I met the vocalist in this band, Shinnosuke! I had a conversation with him in Japanese (I'm American and Chinese) and his reaction was the cutest thing ever XS

Even if your ability isn't up to speed, you can only improve by speaking. Find a friend willing to call with you who's patient to work it through with you. It'll be worth it
