    I am studying for the EPPP and your tutorials are invaluable to revise concepts that I have not been exposed to too many years. Difficult not to succumb to catastrophic thinking in the process of preparing for this exam!

    1:00 What are the criteria for a distorted view according to Beck? What makes him say client's belief q and w are distorted, and does he tell the client head on or does he ask questions to the client to figure it out themselves?

      @PsychExamReview  Před 9 měsíci

      Great question, it's difficult to have a precise definition of what constitutes a "distorted" view, and this might vary depending on the circumstances for each individual. But Beck recognized that the level of distortion seemed to vary with the severity of depression, and he described those with mild depression as often being prone to view themselves as inadequate or deficient and tending to expect negative outcomes in neutral or ambiguous situations. Those with more severe depression saw themselves as worthless, inept, and total failures who are a burden on others and saw no hope for future outcomes.
      As for addressing these distortions, in general he thought the goal would be for patients to recognize and address them independently, though there may be a temporary period in which confronting clients directly with evidence and reason might help to recognize and correct distortions.
      Hope this helps, thanks for commenting!

    I listen to your social psychology class, and it was well done. Why not just go head and start unit on sociology class ? Just an idea

      Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I don't have a background in sociology so I probably won't be making a series on that, but I will be making more new psychology videos soon!
