  • What kind of vehicle is best for overlanding? There are so many things to consider such as size, budget, types of adventures you plan to take it on, daily driver vs. adventurer only, length of travel, and so much more.
In this episode of Overland Essentials, George Bull helps us understand that there is no such thing as the "perfect" vehicle. From motorcycles to large trucks, the capabilities you desire for your vehicle are completely up to you.

    Excellent information.
I’ve been using the word compromise through various vehicles and am still learning what I enjoy doing the most.
This is leading me to the best vehicle after learning the limitations of using them.
Camping in a Camry station wagon, then camping off a motorcycle or empty 2wd van. Moving on to a truck pulling a travel trailer, then using the truck with cap & carrying a small dual sport.
Added my canine travel companion. Bike no longer feasible.
I overloaded the same 1/2 ton truck with Four Wheel camper.
Sold that for a 4wd Sprinter cargo with an air mattress on the floor. Then outfitted that Sprinter with a full but crude interior with fridge, nice bed, etc.
Vehicles have progressively gotten larger and less capable and more expensive which has reduced my willingness to damage it going where I want to go.
Thinking about an older jeep at this point.
To think of how much time, effort and money I could have saved had I been able to crystal ball this. But sometimes wisdom can only come through the experience of trials.

Ive seen some rigs (Gladiators, Tacos, etc) that you can just tell its over its GVW even with HD suspension components. All these gadgets and gizmos are cool but is it worth sacrificing drivability and safety?
