    After this ending I suddenly realized, that all the time the opening showed us the end. All of them are reborn in a new world. Remember in the opening Kiba is walking through the rainy streets walking past every character. And that's exactly what we see at the end of the anime.( Not in this video, it's)
    It's an endless circle and all the time the anime opening already showed us this. That's genius.

    The world gets reimagined into paradise, everyone who died got reborn. The saddest part is that the flower maiden is reborn into a lunar flower such as the opening entails when you see Kiba frantically searching for her, but she is in an alleyway crack as the flower. It breaks my heart knowing he’ll never know she’s not coming back.

We see everyone in it.. even blue running in the city night. Makes me think everyone made it including her...Because you also see the flower at the end of the intro. A cycle but better. In the end.. Everyone will be destined to come across one another. Then a new journey to paradise will begin. But this time it’s there... I also don’t wanna feel like blue and hige relationship never happened. Because the world reseted. But like I said they will all be destined to come across one another once again and a new relationship will start😏hehe . But at the same time they still got there senses. Also one last thing the city scene in the intro was never in any episodes besides episode 30

      @@thabombtrolling2962 mhmm because you can only be a wolf to go to paradise. People gotta remember hige was one of jagura wolfs. The opening clearly debunks those theories is blue the kitten or did the 5 wolfs turn human. Because why would cheza bring back 5.. and turn them human when they was born wolfs lol you can only be a wolf to go to paradise. You can clearly see them in there wolf forms in the opening in the (Current time) which takes place in the epilogue. It makes the show less depressing when you put 2 n 2 together knowing everyone will meet again because of Kiba. And for those hige x blue shippers there is hope between the 2. because it’s a cycle, but better in the (Current time) they’ll always be together like blue being the only female wolf... and hige actually taking a liking into her because his main interests was paradise food and blue 😭 it will just repeat but not them dying however. Darcia eye just represents there will always be evil in the world. But the path to paradise is opened now because of the lunar flowers. A new journey to paradise will begin.

    I watched wolfs rain as one of my first anime right after inuyasha and even though i didnt understand the anime at that age, the emotion it conveyed was so strong that i have held it in my heart ever since. i now rewatched it with a friend at the age of 23 and i finally understand it now. it is a story of hope, and suffering. The determination and love in this show are just so beautifully done. people critique the pacing of the show and on some level i agree that the information could have been more spread out and elaborated uppon because most only comes at the end. But what wolfs rain does so beautifully is it assumes an intelligent viewer. they never rub anything in your face. when they learn what hige is we dont get an explenation because he doesnt have the words to give one so and they dont force a backstory or backflash but they leave you as the rest of the gang that are supposed to draw their own conclusions. The same with the ending and darcias motivation. Some of my favourite moments are between the detective and the scientist that reveal right towards the end that they actually would have loved children but they were unable to have them. Its such a subtle detail but it suddenly explains chers actions. The love she has for cheza as her creation and a little girl is what drove her appart form her husband because she was so absorbed in her job and it led to divorce. throughout the entire show it is clear that they love each other but what really went wrong? this is it. he coundt understand and she couldnt explain. its so beautiful. so subtle. The tragedy of Hub and Toboe is just heart wrenching. Its obvious why tobeos death is devistating. But Hub is the most tragic character in this show. He has only anger to fuel him in life and he cannot overcome his guilt and trauma so when he is comfronted by the truth he loses all meaning in his life and sees no meaning in the world anymore. he pushes away the only loved one he still has which is blue in the process. The increadible betrail by the world is to much for him to handle. he can not change his ways and in his final moment he even kills the kindest of the wolfs. He died loved and with so much regret. its sooooo increadibly tragic and sad. That he continued to be loved by toboe until the end and he can never redeem himself. i honestly just couldnt take it. The tender moment between hige and blue is so intimate and heartbreaking. He kept his promise. He will be by her side until the end and as she slowly loses conciousness he just strokes her very tenderly and lovingly. And her response is so touching. she just sais: that feels nice. hige and blue never get to express tender moments of intimacy with each other and she is finally loved for the wolf that she is. Everyone who has had physicall affection like that before knows how nice it is and her words just resonate. its again so subtle, so intimate and emotionally heartbreaking.
    Because of this wolfsrain is a masterpiece. I could keep going for ever about the beauty of this piece of art. there is just so much in there i dont know where to stop.

    Paradise doesn't exist but Kiba's desire to find it let world be reborn. The cycle must move forward but it requires the vision of paradise for it happen. Kiba is still a Wolf in the next world because he kept true to his vision and thus survived death. The gang are no longer wolves because they ignored their wolfhood but shared Kiba's vision of a new world.
    As convoluted as it may seem, the point of Wolf's Rain is to let the world the reborn but you must desire it for it to happen - not of a new world, but an image of a world returned to it's natural beginning. Wolf's Rain hints towards an inner paradise motif of Buddhist Nirvana in that treats the world's state as a cycle that forever ebbs and flows and never an ideal, thus Paradise exists in the individual - except Wolf's Rain treats the cycle with a more honest understanding of human desires; whatever inner vision of Paradise we have, we can't simply live in it and ignore the world it's supposed to affect; and we never do. The Paradise of Mew and Kiba was indeed real, but that Paradise would never let life into a dying world, Kiba would die instead, his consciousness forever trapped with her for eternity for nothing to happen and for everyone to die, Kiba thus rejects her and their Paradise.
    Wolf's Rain honestly depicts our desires to bring our inner (vision of) Paradise into the world but in order to be true our other desires of fairness and to keep our loved ones (which is why we have those visions in the first place) the world, even if reborn, will never be a paradise precisely because we wish to have others be there for us and their wishes, good or bad, continue the cycle of life and death all over again, but Wolf's Rain believes it must. If you wish for Paradise for yourself, you will be denied, that's why Darcia, along with Kiba and Cheza, made it to the end but Cheza rejected him; Darcia not only wanted paradise for himself (and Hamona) and broke every natural order to get it by obtaining a Wolf's eye as a man and unnaturally becoming a Wolf. His tainted desires made him unsuitable to mingle with Cheza's blood and only Kiba was allowed precisely because we wanted others in it and thus world was born anew. All of them necessary sacrifices for a new world, Darcia's evil taint, Cheza's body for a new Earth, and Kiba's good will, all necessary for a new cycle.
    Kiba's paradise is the next world, and it will be always in every next world, because Kiba is the sacrifice we need, the one to slay the Dragon, and the one to let the Holy Maiden give birth.

    It took many years to figure it out. The Opening of the series is the beginning of the end. That is why it always looked so different compared to the scenes and theme of the anime. Just like the start of the series where they all end up in the same place and meet one another before they go forth to find paradise. How I figure is this is just one version of paradise. The false paradise the nobles made is the remnants of the previous one. We the audience is watching the current one die. While the opening is showing us the next. The world will be reborn again and again until true paradise is created. So in each new reborn world they are reborn as well to search for paradise.

  • @youknow3881
    @youknow3881 Před 4 lety +57

    My interpretation of the ending was always that Paradise was a legend, passed down from one generation of wolves to the next but never proven. It became so rooted in folklore that no living person (Human or Wolf) could tell if it were real or not, and in the end, Paradise was just a euphemism for the tangible, Heaven-Life afterlife which we get to see as each character dies.
    (The End-Credits scene where Toboe finds a kitten was always harder to discern for me, although the main consensus from the fandom seems to be that everyone was reincarnated into a different, better world).

  • @Wolfman12395
    @Wolfman12395 Před 2 lety +21

    To be honest, Toboe's death hit me the hardest out of everyone's near the end of this series. Kiba's was very sad at the end, but it also told a story that in a way, had a new beginning to it with how paradise was actually revealed in the end. And because of that, I think the series ended just fine the way it did and doesn't need a sequel. This will probably always be my #1 favorite anime series of all time, I just can't believe it's been 17 years since I first watched it.....

We have acquired the means to exceed our natural span of life, never suspecting that the world itself was finalized in its existence. This knowledge has left me in despair, my fate has fallen and scattered like the petals of a dying flower, like the blast from a sand storm it has been worn down and weathered away. Ending explained : In wolf's rain's world, only wolves are able to open paradise. Darcia somehow was aware of this, so in episode 26 we see him with the stone used by lady Jaguara to open the nobles paradise. At the beginning of episode 27 , we see him in an alchemy lab reading the book of the moon. So he probably mixed the knowledge his family had of alchemy with what he read to activate the power of the stone and revive his wolf form. Moreover, he also mentions the world is about to freeze to be reborn. Then the prophecy written in the book actually happens and this episode shows no more than what was said the previous episodes

    • @Nachtara-nr1pv
      @Nachtara-nr1pv Před 3 lety +1

      I´m not quite sure about that tbh. Was´nt the book of the moon with Lebowski all the time? Darcia had never access to it, right?
      Also, maybe you can answer me some questions (if you are actually still reading this) because I still do not understand if Kiba stayed a wolf or not.
      We can also see in the ending scene that before Kiba dies, there is rain falling from the sky and onto the pages of the book of the moon, creating a new page. Does´nt that mean that this storyline repeated all over and over again for a long time? The world must have ended quite often if that is correct...
      Does the paradise even exist at that point? I personally think that the paradise the wolves are searching for is not even such a magical place as they imagine. I´m quite certain that paradise is the new world being created after the world ends - At least that is what I think considering Kiba´s words before fighting Darcia.
      I´m confusing myself...sorry :D

  • @woohunson
    @woohunson Před rokem +4

    I see the stark contrast in the reaction of the two main figures here to the fatal loss of what they wanted to protect.
    Darcia says Hamona no longet exists.
    Kiba says he haven't lost anything. Not his friends, nor his pride as an wolf.
    Darcia can't make spirit live inside him.
    Kiba keeps them alive, listen to their voices.
    Darcia lives in the cold reality, obsessively coercing himself to see the truth, and then coerce others to see the cold reality.
    Kiba lives in the legend he believes and lives in the total stories him and others have made. They are so precious that not only himself but also relatively skeptical friends yield their lives to keep them going.
    It is not that he doesn't know the truth. He despairs that there is nothing left to protect. This means that if there was, he definitely would. But for Darcia, it is the world that has nothing in it. Even if there were, he would treat everything meaningles, starting destructions.
    Even when reality is dark, it is not itself making a meaning. What stories we made out of that background is the source of meaning. This is what I felt.

On episode 28, he shows up in the middle of a sandstorm and when asked by Kiba what he is waiting for to open paradise since he has the stone to open it, he answers "for a wolf", implying he is waiting for the power of the stone to activate

    Man this anime is underrated everyone is watching generic anime shows like One Piece,Naruto, Demon Slayer, etc but im the only person who loves this anime because its so unique, well written, mature, and plain simple if animes now were more like this I would be obsessed with anime. Wolfs Rain you will always be my favorite Anime ❤❤

    This always invokes emotions in me I can’t explain. It’s like seeing a baby being born after a death. Life is beautiful in the end, as it is difficult

      Wolf's Rain brings back a lot of memories, the emotions in the last two episodes are great. Though I cried most with Toboe's and pop's death.

      Seen too many of these animal anime, it also has become a trope, like the #Ginga franchise, which Excel Saga took the p*ss out, we think? X;D
