What a fantastic concert. One of the best bands ever. I listen to a lot of music with my buddies, but they are all big fans of Todd Rundgren. We often play his records, especially in the Utopia era. What strikes me is that many Todd Rundgren fans also love another great in music: Frank Zappa, as well as Little feet (with Lowel George)! Look also Todd Rungren's CZcams film with the great Dutch Metropool Orchestra. When I listen to Todd Rundren's brilliant music I get nostalgic for the 70's again!

***** It's a shame though that Todd is very prone to sticking his brilliant head up his own arse.... with those long spun out tracks like The Icon and "Singring and his little glass guitar". Half of what he did since "Wizard"was pure genius while the other half pure crap.Till he decided in 1980 (with the "New Wave"in full swing) to search for adventures in Utopia for good....such a shame,he probably was too accomplished for his own good.

Totally. I think "Open My Eyes" on that first Nazz album is criminally underrated and overlooked as standout psychedelic rock - and there are some good tracks on the rest of it as well. They take a backseat to Vanilla Fudge in that department hands down. All four of the Fudge could play, sing, write and arrange. I cannot think of any other group that could lay claim to that - not to say Todd's a slouch. I once saw at a warehouse party in SF in 1990 the Tubes were backing him. Arrived a little after midnight and left at 5 am. They were still going strong - no breaks. They were very well rehearsed; not just a bunch of long jams. The harmonies were incredible among other things.

Just went to see the opening concert of The Individualist tour. So I dove into CZcams to see Todd (28 here), Kas (just turned 21 here) and Roger and Willie. Discovered Todd/Utopia when I was 17 at the release of Oops! Wrong Planet. It hit me deep and hard. And I was desperate to see them live. This Rockpalast concert was the first live footage I ever saw of Todd/Utopia about three years after it was broadcast. My jaw dropped and it took my love for the music, lyrics, Todd and the guys to the next level. I was blessed to have met him a few times and even had dinner with him and Michele, Jesse Gress and his wife Mary Lou Arnold, Todd’s faithful tour manager. How lucky are we to have those people in our lives and play the soundtrack to whatever we go through!

I LOVE TR and Utopia, but can't agree with you. The early Utopia work was deeply proggy but they ultimately went in a different direction (e.g. the Network album, Swing to the Right, etc.) Both Genesis and Yes had such amazing chemistry. Also, as much as I love Todd (I've seen him three times) Jon Anderson is the best vocalist I ever heard live. His performances are so amazing and consistent. Genesis was such an amazing band both with and without (for a while) Peter Gabriel. Roger Powell is terrific on keys, but Tony Banks add so much to the sound of Genesis. Kasim is terrific on bass and his vocals are terrific. I don't hear a lot of people talk about Willie Wilcox, which is a shame. That dude is badass.

The RA Tour swung in to the DFW area smack dab in the middle at University of Texas Arlington, a fairly small hall and no alcohol was allowed - ha,. I snuck in two cans of beer in my socks so I didn't get thirsty. Full blown show with the cool video roll-in at the beginning, sphinx, pyramid jump, lasers, etc and it was LOUD - it was worth that $6.50 ticket for certain.
