A masterpiece composition and fantastic playing by Andrey!!!! AWESOME! 😝👏👏
Brilliant!!!
Tremendous performance and in these considerable hands it works absolutely brilliantly within the context of, and seems so well-suited to, the sound-world available from this guitar - obviously quite a different guitar to the guitar the commissioner might have played ;-)
Wow! A major new work for guitar, and what magnificent playing.
Great addition to the repertoire, and so well played! I'm so glad I found out about this piece. It was only due to Birtwistle's recent death, otherwise I would not have known about it. Thanks so much for sharing! Btw what is the make of guitar in this video?
Don’t remember exactly… think it was a Smallmann’s guitar
Não é o tipo de música que estou mais habituado a ouvir, mas fico contente em ver novas músicas sendo introduzidas no canal. As vezes é bom sair da zona de conforto.
I hope I have some Motrin.
The second movement especially is brilliant and brilliantly played. As if the guitar were an animal - a bull? - being disciplined.
Ah! Andrej! Great player. Your Darwin performance was fantastic (thank you for visiting our little city). A bright star this one.
Clearly a world class player!
sodelicious
I was at the London premiere of this fabulous piece, which also included a lovely new Brouwer work. Lebedev was totally cool, which was impressive given the presence of Bream, Williams, Brouwer and just about every other brilliant guitar player I could mention. It was an amazing performance.
I believe he worked with Bream in the interpretations for this piece. No doubt a connection Herbert through Tim Cain who is another fabulous Australian musician.
i'm not sure how to approach Birtwistle's music; feels very glassy and mechanical like a skyscraper, or a walk by a frozen canal in Salford
Doesn't it named 'Beyond White Hand' originally?
Yes.
Can anyone advise me whether this was the piece commissioned by Julian Bream and premiered by Andrey in London?
That is right, it was commissioned by the Julian Bream Trust.
