Hey Richard, long time viewer (cliche), but I don't comment much as I'm always watching on my appleTV to make the most of the images you & other photography vloggers put up. So I'll take the time to thank you for your content & help pushing me to get out & point my camera upwards to our southern skies. It's just so nice having a southern hemisphere perspective & of course I learn something everyday, & of course being on a Z7ii everything you say is directly applicable to my gear - bonus. Not having any tracking gear at all, of course this would be a huge step up for my images. We love your good mate Will from Skywatcher, very generous of him & you. All the best for your calendar this year, looks great.

    Hi Richard,
With watching your channel over the last few years I know it’s not really about the gear, it’s about the stars and that’s where your passion and excitement for our wonderful Southern Hemisphere skies shines through. The SkyWatcher Star Adenturer Mini would be a valuable addition to my Astro kit bag as the tracker I have used for the last three years can be very temperamental like the Benro you mentioned and I’d be really happy to have the SkyWatcher Mini tracker to help my workflow.

I find the learning curve really enjoyable, all the ups and all the downs, so when I go away I want to have a small portable sky tracker unit I can tuck away in my luggage, I'll even sacrifice clothing space to get it in, ha.. Thanks Richard for having a CZcams channel based in Australia to start with. I have spent years now being interested in Astrophotography, and have enjoyed watching your channel and following your tutorials on Nightscape Photography. Not only has your channel guided me on the start of my Astrophotography journey, but it has also inspired me to do better, look at compositions more thoughtfully and most of all, enjoy the experience! I have been dealing with some health issues recently as well that had put a stop to my enjoyment of this pastime, but hopefully now after the last procedure, can work on getting back into getting out there. I would definitely be using the Skywatcher Mini to create Milky Way images up here in Northern Qld, as there are many opportunities up here for stunning landscapes with a Milky Way backdrop. The ease of setting up the tracker, as you have demonstrated through your tutorials, makes it a “must have” piece of kit to add to my equipment arsenal! Thanks again for your knowledge and expertise, and keep those travel series videos coming. The Tasmanian adventure recently was fantastic!

Light weight, compact and versatile. Star tracking for improved night sky’s with the ability to bring some automation to panoramic stitching day or night and perhaps even panning in Timelapse all make this very desirable to both improve and reinvigorate my photography.

Hi Richard, what an excellent giveaway from SkyWatcher, and yourself. I'd love to win this, but even if I don't, I'm sure whomever does will get amazing use out of it. I currently live in the middle of Australia, in Tennant Creek, and wow, the night skies are epic out this way. I've been playing with astro photography a few years, it's something I enjoy, but when I want to see amazing images, or gwt inspired to keep having a go, I reckon your channel is the only place I ever look. Wow ! awesome images again Richard, great that your Benro Polaris is getting sorted as it must have been very frustrating not switching on properly. Finally getting some clear nights out here in NZ so getting a bit of practice in with my Sony A7R ii and 20mm lens, purchased a second hand Tracker but it wasn't in the condition that the owner stated but am getting it sorted. The Star Adventurer Mini Pro Pack sounds like like a wonderful gift for someone, it would be nice and light for backpacking up Mount Ruapehu out here. I want to get up there for some shots later in the year. Be over your way 14th October to O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat with the Two Mad Photographers then hire a car and spend two more weeks tripping around the outer Brisbane area as my wife knows it well. Great as always Richard. I had my 1st attempt at a multi row panorama with the Polaris a few nights ago and suspect it was a total failure due equally in part to my lack of knowledge about it and issues with the unit itself. To be fair, once it was working, it did a great job but getting it to that stage took me about 3 hours of struggling. I got a good straight untracked pano but by that time the MW had set. Still, it was all about learning the mistakes so time well spent resulting in nothing. 😊 I think the Sky Adventurer would give me a more reliable result and longer shutter speeds.

Thanks Levin. The problem with the Polaris is that it has so many quirks depending on the camera connected to it. The only reason I would use it compared to the SA Mini is to do automated tracked panoramas . .other than that I'm not sure it's worth the hassels ...!!!!

Great to see you getting some good results from the Polaris Richard, hopefully you get it back soon with the switch issue resolved. I love shooting tight panos at 85mm, especially at this time of year with a low horizontal core. The detail of captured is breathtaking.

Hi Richard , your work is just outstanding. Pano is just amazing . You videos are very educational and inspirational . It motivates me to go out . Star Adv Mini seems like a cool compact device- very using to carry around and would definitely improve my photography.
You should plan to do Astro workshop in NZ too .
    Thanks

    G'day Richard.
Great images, big fan fan your work. I used to be based in Shepparton and if I knew you where in Bendigo I would have come and checked out your work there.
Having the mini would be a great addition to my kit. I currently use the star adventurer 2i for deep sky astro and when I want to do any nightscapes I can be a pain to dismantle everything and pack it all down to transport it all to a location. That being said I have recently started my own photography website and I want to add more nightscape images of my local area to add to and promote my website. The mini I guess would help streamline the acquisition of those shots.
Keep up the good work and clear skies.

Great follow up video on the Benro Polaris Astro tracker.
I am very much an avid follower and always appreciate the excellent content you take the time to share with us.
I love TEC in Astro photography and very much like your self I really enjoy a good MW pano. I have now ordered my Benro Polaris Astro and can’t wait to tackle the TEC.
Looking forward to see more from you when you get yours back .

I am going to be shooting on the canon R5 and Astro mod HA 6D. I will be looking to see if they have updated the ability to read RAW images, also being able to view images on the camera.
The 3 main lenses I will be using are canon 16-35mm f2.8 L, Sigma 28mm f1.4 DG HSM ART Lens my go to Pano lens, finally samyang 14mm manual lens but have concerns as this probably won’t work with the app. And advise you may have would be well received. I will share my findings as I go as well.
Delivery is scheduled for the beginning of October

    • @nightscapeimages.richard
      @nightscapeimages.richard  Před 11 měsíci +1

I suspect that all your lenses will be fine, but I don't think you'll be able to see the screen on your camera and phone at the same time . .same issue I have with my Nikons. I wouldn't suggest trying to send RAW files to the Benro app. I'd set the camera to shoot RAW and small size jpegs. The jpegs will be read by the Polaris and the Raws are what you use to edit later on. @@markpenberthy619

Looking forward to your exhibition in November Richard, I'll be there for sure!
As for the Star Adventurer Mini, love what this unit offers. I currently use the MSM for Milky Way tracking which has been great in it's simplicity, however does have a few drawbacks. I'd be looking to use the Star Adventurer Mini to replace my MSM so I can properly lock down my gear and get into some slightly longer focal length tracked Milky Way panoramas. Built in intervalometer would be a god send as I always seem to be forgetting mine or have flat batteroes 🙄.
Looking forward to reading what others would do with this unit, especially those just looking to expand from untracked to tracked 👍

So hoping to win the star tracker. I think having a star tracker will improve my milky way shots and as I'm planning to go to Tassie next year it would be a great bit of kit to learn. Learning panoramas is something I'm really keen on trying and I've never thought of shooting with my 85mm or 50mm, but after seeing that 85mm photo Richard I am going to give it a go. Regardless if I am the lucky winner or not, at your recommendation I'll definitely be buying one.
Good luck with the exhibition, I'm sure you'll be a huge success. Love your work 😊
