The point about some men feeling like they need permission from women to be the men they are resonated with me. Would love to hear him expand on that in a follow-up conversation.

Around 46:00 he is ON POINT about ‘that look’ of models and actresses. I think a lot of them are undisclosed transwomen. Also, they have a lot of cosmetic surgery, are too thin/boyish, so lack feminine curves or boobs. Their hair, makeup and piercings is aposematic.

I am still undecided why I can't remember the names of actresses - I strongly suspect it's likely because I can't tell the difference between them and they all look bland with nothing remarkable to remember them for.

When it comes to talking about "gender", I think the core issue is the directionality of it: Do gender norms come from the top down, or the bottom up?
Because when you hear these gender weirdos talk about "social constructs", they're coming at it from a blank slate perspective - which means all of our social norms are just completely made up, and get forced down on us from above.
But if you accept that human beings have an inherent nature to them, and that men and women also have their own separate natures, then it follows that the societal norms that get built up around men and women are going to be different too.
Using Leslie's example of girls in her street not being allowed to climb trees: This would be based on the fact that the female sex is more precious (which is why women's own instincts tend to tell them to avoid danger), and such risk-taking behaviours are more appropriate for the male sex (whose instincts tend to tell them to pursue risk and confront danger).
This doesn't mean that in our modern society that you can't relax the rules a bit, and let a girl go climbing trees with the boys and have it be perfectly fine, but it's just to point out that it isn't an arbitrary thing to tell her not to.
Social gender norms are built on top of the biological reality of sex. Sex - male and female - is the foundation; the inspiration; the necessitation.
The "social construct" view is that gender norms are almost like chemtrails: The Powers That Be (patriarchy, heteronormativity) decide to invent a set of norms out of whole cloth, and then they just crop dust it down onto everyone.
Why do women's jeans come without pockets? Is it because the female sex places higher value on form over function? (Femininity being embodied, not enacted, as gets discussed)
No, it's societal brainwashing! And the only reason women even care about their appearance in the first place is because of brainwashing, too! And women aren't even a real thing anyway, that's just cisnormativity! It's all just made up!

Women are precious. I love that you wrote that. Men are too. In a different way. It’s so important to trust Nature’s guidance. We need to protect ourselves more, as women, because of the vital role we play in reproduction and therefore survival of the species. Our wombs and eggs are a limited resource.
We make a mistake when we attribute women’s roles entirely to oppression by the patriarchy. We make a mistake by rebelling as a knee jerk reaction. Instead, we might consider the wisdom of our choices, women’s wisdom, irrespective of men.
If we want to compare women and men, consider this. Why do Western men dress more modestly than women? Many reasons. What a great debate topic. If expecting women to dress modestly is oppression, are men choosing to oppress themselves, too? Today, young men wear long baggy swimsuits. Women show their whole bums in thongs. Women of all ages may showcase their bums and their cleavage at formal affairs. Imagine men, young and old, shirts open to reveal their chests, at a wedding say. Ew. They wear ties.
Do men dress modestly because they respect their own privacy? Is it wise for women to respect their own privacy less?
If we want to compare men and women, consider this. Did women get taken in by the sexual revolution as a knee jerk reaction? We want more sexual freedom was the rallying cry. We want to be as free as men. Men gained the freedom to have a ton of premarital sex with liberated women. Women were free, too, free to assume the lion’s share of responsibility for pregnancy by pumping their bodies full of hormones, and when that failed, volunteering to undergo abortions.
I get that abortion needs to be legal, given the experiences of women who had illegal abortions. My body, my choice. Is there wisdom, women’s wisdom, in empowering women to embrace their bodily autonomy before pregnancy by being extremely selective about the men they have sex with as their right, rather than their oppression?

I see no problem with not gendering children’s toys. Why should cars and science kits be designated as boys toys, while arts and crafts and glitter are designated as girls? Maybe if Target or other stores weren’t so influential on what parents buy for their kids because they put a sign up on their shelves, maybe I would have been given hot wheels and my brother allowed to be more creative?
