  • In this video, I demonstrate all four models of the new "Jason Marsalis Signature Series" vibraphone mallets from Marimba One.
I have been using them on and off for several months in different bands, rooms, concert halls, and musical situations.
The opinions expressed in this video are my own and you don't have to agree with me :)
I played some music with each set of mallets, starting from the hardest and progressing to the softest mallets - along the way I give my thoughts about the sound, the quality, durability and musical situations that I have used/would use these mallets.
I also decided to compare them side by side with the Innovative Percussion David Friedman (DF30) mallets, as well as the new Albright Mallets from Malletech. I hope that this video helps give you an honest representation of how they sound so you can decide for yourself whether to purchase them or not.

Cool to see that you came to a lot of the same conclusions that I did in my video! It's nice to hear from a true pro! Keep up the good work!

Love your videos. I always am impressed by how fluid and relaxed your playing is. I can really hear a marked difference between the softer and harder mallets.

Great Review! Jason Marsalis definitely seemed to favor the JMR 1's when I saw him live, he played the entire night without switching them out, and he was burning with them!

Pretty cool video, I always love looking at new mallets. Just ordered the innovative percussion Drew Taylor mallets as something other than the malletech Albright mallets

Just used the JMR2’s on a gig last night, (just me with backing tracks as usual) and they really came through!

Very nicely done ! Very good idea to compare with other well-known mallets.
BTW, your vibes, with the rattles, sounds a little like a kind of balafon :o) Is it why in german vibraphone is called vibrafon ? (scuse me, it was too tempting)
BTW 2, your last night concert with Matthias was top notch, and many many thanks for it !
