- Since Kardavox Academy started people have been asking for me to react to Deviloof. And I'll be honest, I always avoided it. Why? No idea. But it was foolish and I was wrong and I'm sorry. Keisuke is an INSANE vocalist with an incredibly wide range and succulent depth of tone. So, here we are. DEVILOOF!

Still hoping for Kyo's from Dir en Grey vocal analysis.
and Riby:uhki :)
Hopefully, if he does it, would love to see him analyze the Vinushka Live Performance
@@Kvysvr or macabre live at tabula rasa
YES. Man, Kyo is so underrated as a vocalist.
@@BathoryDusk I didn't really think he was underrated... A lot of metalheads recognise Kyo's talent
DEVILOOF - 拷訊惨獄(Official Live Video)
Is a must watch to see how crazy keisuke's vocals are live.
Yes, a billion percent this one! I couldn't believe some of the high notes he hit in that performance.
Never heard of this band. Listened to this…that was insane.
Keisuke has an amazing range of sounds he can make low gutturals, clean, high screams, pig squeals and whistle tones that sound like computer game effects. The thing is you need to listen to about 4 or 5 songs to get a good idea of the range.
It's insane. Absolutely crazy. Love it
he's definitely the Japanese dicky allen
"4 or 5 songs" OR, alternatively, just "Newspeak". He really goes all-out on that track
I LOVE Deviloof, but they have had more complex vocal stuff in prior songs. Keisuke can do INSANE screeches!
True. Just glad he got on them now!
I really wish that Kardavox would look at that screetch and try to explain it. I really wanna know how he does that
newspeak, peer pressure and GouZinZanGoku go insane
The screeches on this guy are off the chain. Also his ability to blend vocal folds to his screaming technique.
@@fazzypandathe Mario jump! Wtf
He is quite an interesting vocalist, his pig squeals are very head voice heavy and he does whistle range stuff utilizing that as an base. Really chill funny dude as well. Also he is a cat guy.
Deviloof are great, there is a ton of amazing bands in the Japanese scene that don't get near enough attention.
Agreed 💯
when he checks out the one track that doesnt have the whistle tone lol
Keisuke is insane, DEVILOOF - 拷訊惨獄(Official Live Video) is another good example of what he can do (minus his clean vocals). Lots of underrated japanese bands & vocalists now that I think about it.
YES THAT ONE IS SICK!!
I hope that more japanese bands appear in the channel in the future, like Nocturnal Bloodlust.
Edit: the meaning of the band's name is devil's proof and it is a mix of the words devil and proof.
Hell yeah, Hiro is a beast!
@@imnotchikao6317 no doubt! I wish they release some deathcore song with their new formation to see Hiro doing some heavy harsh vocals
@@JeffersonFK95 they kinda made a conscious effort to become a heavier metalcore band, abandoning the makeup and becoming more in favor of that kinda sound.
@@goner.9989 I know that they've left visual kei behind and nothing wrong with the effort of being a heavier and good metalcore band. My point is that it would be a good thing to release a song or two in deathcore style, something like satanic corner. Don't get me wrong, I like the direction they're taking now. Maybe it's just some nostalgia
sadly this is one of the songs without his signature inward whistle tone slides... (i think that's the technique he uses)
Would love to see you react to for example Deviloof - Newspeak to hear that sound as well! ^^
Hell yeah! I love Deviloof, so happy to see them on the channel finally, Keisuke is easily one of my favorite vocalists and I really hope you check out more, I'd highly recommend you check out the live performance of their song Goujinsangoku
you HAVE to check out their song Torture. This song doesn't cover too many of the different vocal styles Keisuke uses
Not only is Keisuke a great vocalist but he managed to make his new braces part of his 'dark' outfit 😅. I also think there's something to languages helping certain vocalists develop in certain tones than others. For example it seems many Japanese vocalists hit higher notes than say American vocalists. I wonder if that has to do with Japanese being a more nasal language than English?
DEVILOOF!!!! So many underappreciated vocalists from Japan
Keisuke has a hell of a range in both his screams and his clean vocals I love this band ever since I heard their album Oni
Keisuke is one of the best metal vocalist out there. Deviloof - Torture official live video is a must to check out
Oh snaps. I’ve been wanting some Visual Kei/Japanese deathcore/ whatever you wanna call it on this channel for a while. Can’t wait
I love Deviloof, we would all appreciate it if you reacted to Gouzinzagoku by them!
hello mark I would want one for dexcore - brainwashing kagnami Vocals are insane breakdown of The year 2020 when it was released
You MUST react to the live version of DEVILOOF - 拷訊惨獄 (Torture)
For the most underrated Japanese Metal vocalist, you need to check out Rib:yuki from the band Imperial Circus Dead Decadence! He's one of the most skilled vocalists of all, and I'm serious! Insane whistle shrieks, gutturals, clean singing, and more.
Agreed. He is amazing! Glad someone brought him up in chat!
Definitely, he does some crazy stuff on Fushoku Ressentiment and an insane screech on Gekiai
Mark I would absolutely love to see more deviloof break downs, they're such a diverse band, you'll have a field day with any number of their songs
i think the songs where his vocals shine the most is newspeak and gouzinzangoku (the song everyone else is recommending). there's a lot to this band so I'd love to see you analyse more of them
Wow, this is a surprise. But Keisuke is really a good vocalist. We can't wait!
I've been obsessed with Deviloof and it's members. Actually i didn't know what visual kei was til i found them.
Love you guys
ryo kinoshita from crystal lake, dude from deviloof and kyo from dir em grey gotta be best vocalist to ever walk out of japan
Thanks you reacted to Deviloof... Love the band so much.
Jiluka is in the same genre of music as deviloof. Ricko has some crazy vocals that deserve to be heard.
Yay! I'm happy this was reviewed on this channel!
in all honesty i want to see what his reation would be to deviloof- newspeak i honestly think he shows off more of what he can do :)
Deviloof posted a live performance of torture about 6 months ago and he does some of the craziest vocals I've ever heard
Looks like you've been growing out your beard man it looks good! Hope the dad life is treating you well!
Awesome video and breakdown if techniques. Deviloof- torture would be amazing to hear what you think of
We used to have letters in English for voiced and unvoiced "th"! They were "thorn" and "eth", þ and ð!
Deviloof always puts out bangers. Like, bangers on a dif level
Deviloof is dope🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻
If you check out 《Torture》 live, I think you'll get more surprises of the vocalist😏🤘🏻
Yooooooooo I fucking love deviloof I'm so hype for this. You NEED to check out Nocturnal Bloodlust as well when you get the chance.
Hell yeah. Hiro is a beast.
I don't know if you ever got an answer about their name. Keisuke said the band created the word. Deviloof means 'an omittance of the devil's proof'. There is an intro at the beginning of the video for their song Ruin that is written in English. It does a good job of explaining how the idea came about.
i listen rock from 30 years and you are rigth it is unic in his voice an y love you because you are so nice man
Forget everything I love seeing you get excited over band. It has been for a while for me watching at least. Makes me laugh with genuine joy honestly. hell yeah.
Deviloof and Dir En Grey being under the radar for ever.
aaaa Kardavox reviewing Deviloof is something I never imagined I'd see - really cool video!
You should check out their song called GOUZINZANGOKU (Torture) preferably the Live Version.
Here's another band under your radar, DIMLIM. Specifically in the song Vanitas, the lead singer shows off some insane vocal range, and a technique you've probably not even heard yet.
Learned a lot from this video Mark! Excited to rewatch to try some new stuff. Thank you soooo much!
This is a great song but there's definitely some crazy sounds he makes in some prior songs. I would love to hear a newspeak analysis. I always love your content though keep doing what you do!
DUDE FINALLY!!! Best technical vocals in the game!
Theres 2 videos of Keisuke performing raw, live vocals with a different vocalist called Mahone where theyre kinda explaining how they do what they do. It sucks its all in japanese, but still really cool to watch !!!
He didn't do his famous whistle scream 😭😭😭
If you want to hear the greatest japanese metal vocals check Dir en grey-Different sense the vocalist does WHISTLE SCREAM WITH VIBRATO NO METAL VOCALIST HAS EVER DONE IT.
I would absolutely love to see you react to imperial circus dead decadence some time, I absolutely love them and their lead is definitely very talented
You should check out the youtube channel MAHONE. He's a japanese Metal Vocal youtuber who does covers, explanations and even talks to some vocalists and analyses their songs with them. He did it with Keisuke (Deviloof), Ricko (Jiluka, whom you must check out too) and Kagami (Dexcore) to name a few.
He does WHISTLE SCREAM check torture(gouzinzangoku) Live you'll hear it
Please do Deviloof-Escape, the vocals are insane
Amazing vocalist
Check their song torture Live it has WHISTLE SCREAM it might be the HARSHEST VOCALS IN METAL HISTORY.
Deviloof - 拷訊惨獄 (Gouzinzangoku)
This is the one that will blow your mind
In that first vocal line that was hard to explain, it's contradictory to itself for sure, but the explanation for that is kinda simple. It starts off with a mid-range fry, but you use less space in the mouth instead of more, and focus on your tongue placement. It's a gradual shift from an A vowel to the E vowel, which gives it the upward inflection. Its close to how vocalists go from the I vowel to the A vowel naturally when they release their sustain in old screamo bands from the 2000's like Spencer Chamberlain when he was with Underoath.
React to Dir en grey - Uroko
check their song Newspeak, you"ll definitely be surprised by his very very high wistle highs and screeches
DDJ🤘I highly recommend these Visual Kei bands next:
Dexcore - Savior
Jiluka - OVERKILL
Deviloof - Torture (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO) next stop
This is their new realese song.
You need to react to kyo from dir en grey ! Unbelievable vocalist !
I would definitely love for you to listen to his super super high screeches he does sadly he doesn't do it in this video but I'd love to hear a talk of that.
deviloof is nuts
if you like this you should check out jiluka-overkill another japanese band that just does stupid crazy shit in their songs they are amazing
People have already said it, but he NEEDS to listen to GouZinZanGoku
Yeaaaa!!! THROW SHIT!
Wow! The intro is a killer.
Not quite death metal, but a great song to check out in the Visual Kei scene is Falling by The GazettE, The GazettE is a great japanese metal band.
Please, do a vocal analysis to:
.Beyond Deviation - White Noise or 10,000 (hopefully a co-reaction w/ Gui)
.In Gloom - God the Animal ft. Kyle Anderson
.Our Common Collapse - Brought Beneath
.Monasteries - Digital Suicide, The Gomorrah Verses or F(r)iend
.Littledidweknow - I am Robot Machine
.Castiel - Exitium
.Tactosa - Augured In
.Summoning the Lich - Descend
.Dysphoria - Caligula bows down
Though this isn't strictly my hypothesis (and I frankly can't recall where I read it, unfortunately) my understanding is that at least some portion of the unique vocal differences in Japanese singing (especially in metal) are a result of the average Japanese palate being notably shallower and wider than even some other Asian demographics. This is also one of the reasons why so many Japanese folks struggle trying to learn and pronounce words from European languages and vice-versa. Specifically, it's much more difficult for the average white d00d to reliably pull off the rolled "R" sound that's present in a variety of Japanese dialects. Though, of course, these are all generalities and will not be applicable to *all* people from one demographic or another.
Also: There's a whole wad of excellent bands out there if you ever felt like diving further down the VK rabbit hole. I'd recommend Dir en Grey (obviously), Vampillia (their collaborations with Jun Togawa and BiS are neat) and Maximum the Hormone ('cause why not). More specifically, I suppose I'd recommend Dir en Grey's performance of Decayed Crow from Tour2011 AGE QUOD AGIS or World of Mercy from The World You Live in [Behind Closed Doors]. I've seen them live five times and their vocalist, Kyo, is a fucking weapon. And, also, best shriek goblin.
def need Escape for vocal analysis
Lmao he does WHISTLE/KETTLE SCREAMM check torture Live you'll hear it. I'VE never heard any metal vocalists do it.
Please please please check out Omnerod!! They've got a new song, "Magnets", but I think you'll really appreciate their cover of "Force Fed" by Strapping Young Lad! That guy's voice is INCREDIBLE!
you have to do 拷訊惨獄
Dexcore is another great Japanese band to check out
Dammit this was cool
Wooow...you good
Do I hear a little bit of Despised Icon at the 13:25 mark? Oh man this is so good.
Should have done escape. He does a wide range of stuff.
You should check out Dir en Grey. LIke Saku or something
Apologies if you already have a lot of people telling you about this, but I just heard that Project: Vengeance ("The Big 6" deathcore vocalist supergroup) recently released a single "CUT.BLEED.REPEAT." Nik Nocturnal had fun trying to pick out which vocalist was making the "demon/barnyard animal" noises during each phrase. The song itself sounds great, too. I hope you'll do a reaction to that!
Don't know if you've ever checked them out, but might wanna check out Desperate by Nocturnal Bloodlust
If ya want an idea of his vocal capabilities check out torture by them
I hope you'll do something with the Band To The Grave (especially Red Dot Sight) !
Oh man please do JILUKA - VENOM! ;)
Please cover Insomnium
Please check old video DEVILOOF - 拷訊惨獄 - too
GOTTA CHECK OUT JILUKA! They're INSANE
Still waiting for a Dexcore reaction
I'd recommend checking out newspeak as well, or basically any other song by them, they're all amazing.
Waiting for immortal disfigurement!!!!
his isolated scream reminds me of Chad Grey's scream from Mudvayne
If you love them please check out dir en grey! 🤘
Thank you so much for these videos I’ve been watching for a few months now and your videos have helped me so much with vocals already, also a bit curious what that blue drink is that you have sometime? Is it like something to help with your vocal cords or something like that?
Still waiting on that Nitheful - Sacramentum Ov Filicide reaction :)
You kinda sound like Malebolgia, from the spawn movie, at 14:13 ish.
