Cumberland Jack's LeConte Kitchen "honors Cumberland Jack, who was Paul Adams’ closest companion in the 1920s. Adams was hired to construct the first lodge on Mount LeConte and became the first caretaker of LeConte Lodge. He got Cumberland Jack, a German Shepherd, for companionship and protection. Not only did Cumberland Jack protect Adams, but he also fetched groceries and supplies from the Ogle Store in Gatlinburg to bring back up the mountain." Cumberland Jack's LeConte Kitchen wants "to carry on the legacy of Cumberland Jack by providing hungry travelers with the nourishment they need for a fun-filled adventure in the Smokies and a friendly atmosphere to enjoy it in."

Matt really is the funniest person I've ever met! We don't recommend this place, unfortunately. I really wanted to love it, we are major dog lovers, but this place just missed the mark with the food. I may give it another shot someday, but there are just so many other great places to try!
The theming is awesome in Cumberland Jack's. Sounds like more work is needed on the menu and the quality of the food. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I will say this....all very successful restraunts pick a few items or 1 style, stick with it and make it legendary. Poorly devised menus can break a great restaurant and make it mediocre. I think this is what you're experiencing. 😢
They should stick to maybe burgers and steaks, make them legendary. Of course, a few appetizers as well. Forget the multi-menu. The reason the Chef came out to gather an honest review! I hope you did so. Tell him your thoughts and opinions. GoodChef's are NEVER offended. If you're asked, be honest! ❤ Be greatful he came to visit you. Of coarse he knows your reviewing what you say, I would. Stacey maybe tell him you prefer your appetizer hot. Matt, ask for your egg over easy. Great restaurants try to accommodate requests that are reasonable. Eggs certainly are!

That’s how my husband felt about this place never saw anything he liked on menu. He agrees with you Matt the egg needs to be runny on the hamburger 🍔. Great video guys appreciate the reviews 😊

Awesome looking exterior and interior at Cumberland Jack's. Cool story about Smokey Jack. From the menu, I would get the fresh cut chips with the homemade caramelized onion dip, taco trio, dry rub wings, Slab Happy BLT, Rifle Ribeye, Shrimp & Grits, Cheeseburger, Mexico City Burger. Matt sure did get a delicious looking pimento bacon burger. The Firecracker shrimp is different and looks good. I don't eat the shrimp shell. I always enjoy mac & cheese and this one looks good with the smoked cheddar. The thick bacon on the burger looks so good and of good quality. The burger really didn't need that egg. Do you know if Dukes & Hellmans taste similar? A shame the food was not that great. Hopefully the food will improve. You did a great video for Cumberland Jack's. 1K. Congratulations.

The shrimp looked pretty good (although I would need a couple of plates of ‘em to get anywhere near full) I don’t eat shrimp tails but that’s just me. The burger looked good although the egg was severely overcooked.
There’s a restaurant that we ate at a few years ago that would let you have your burger and egg cooked any way you wanted it. I ordered my burger medium rare and the egg over easy. When I bit into it, it was a bloody eggy mess but it was so dang good!!! Thanks for another great video!!

We love how Cumberland Jack’s looks inside. We have been disappointed in the food though. We tried the old menu and the new menu and the food was just average both times.

As frequenters to the Smoky Mountains, we ate there not long after they first opened and absolutely loved the food. Went back with the expectations we had prior in February 2024 and the menu had changed. Didn't like the food at all. I hope they look into that soon, may not be going back. Thanks for the review.

I don't eat shrimp shells, but I do like to make shrimp stock out of them if I have peeled raw shrimp for a recipe. I enjoy your channel! Matt's so low-key, it's relaxing to watch y'all 😁

I totally agree that they need to focus on just one style of cooking! I ate there in April, and nothing was good!
It's really a shame. This place could be great, they just need to get their menu in order.
No one especially a restaurant should leave mayonnaise out. I wouldn’t eat it when we were there. We mention it to our waitress. She said they all felt the same way but management wanted them left out on the tables.
It is convenient to have it on the table but seems weird that its out all the time. I don't like eating mayo I forgot to put up and left out overnight. Maybe the mayo they have in restaurants is different and can be left out? Some fast food places give you mayo packets and I always wondered why they didn't need to be refrigerated? In this case we didn't try it since the burger had the garlic aioli on it.

So first I saw Stacy's shrimp and I thought omg....but I could tell she didn't like it.
Then Matt showed that burger....you're killin me~I finally gave in and put pimento cheese on my walmart list. lol. Was sad the egg was overcooked, I never had one and wondered what it was like when the egg popped.
Pimento cheese makes everything better! When the yolk is runny it just enhances the whole burger!
We was there is April. Worse meal we had the whole 5 days we were there.

Hamburger looks great but I don’t want egg on my burger
That's how I felt at first until I tried a runny one on it. But I like runny eggs .
Don’t think I’d want an egg on my burger either, I’ve for the most part quit eating eggs period for about 5 months now. I just have some problems with them. No eggs even for any meal.
We know many people who feel the same way! You may can order it without the egg or the egg on the side? But it may be cheaper to order a plain burger with the garlic aioli, bacon, and cheese? Most of the burgers there do not have eggs on them and they also have many other entrees without eggs. This place has something for everybody! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I've never tried one, but people tell me a soft fried egg is like adding a second sauce to their burger. Kind of like Eggs Benedict. I love that, so I guess I should rethink it. ❤

Great video, yes to shrimp tails, no to the little Finns on the end (choking hazard) I must be a nightmare to wait on because I absolutely would have requested switching that egg out. Bummer about the food, did you ask if they do anything particularly well?
Glad you enjoyed the video. I rarely eat the tentacles in calamari because of the choking hazard. I rarely send anything back because I have heard wild stories about what sometimes happens back in the kitchen at some restaurants when you send stuff back! 😆 🤢 If it's wrong I just eat it, if edible, and just won't go back to that place. But you're right I probably should have sent it back as much as it cost. When we go places we do research and have a general idea of what a place is known for. Usually we ask the server what they're know for and what dishes they prefer. We usually order at least one of those dishes. In this case the server just said everything was great and that she hadn't had many of the items on the menu. But it's a relatively new menu so? 🤷♂️
@@RaysontheRoad lol, I always seek out overweight servers, I want someone who is into food to do the recommending …I live for calamari tentacles. I think there is a lot less behind the scenes food abuse going on these days…so many restaurants have cameras and microphones in dining rooms, server stations and kitchens.
