Hello everyone, in today's video I am going to discuss the potential cost of attending dental school. I discuss what federal loans students take out and provide examples of how much you may pay back in a specific time period. I talk about popular federal loan repayment plans, so hopefully this video gives you guys a good idea of how dentists tackle their student loan debt.
Keep in mind that every school is different and every individual student has a different circumstance, so there really is no specific answer as to how much dental school will end up costing you. Below I have provided some helpful links if you want to learn more about student loan debt and scholarships that are offered to dental students to help pay for their cost of attendance.
If you are admitted into dental school, talk to your financial aid advisor and discuss student loan debt and eligibility for scholarships that the school, organizations, and corporations may offer. Every dollar counts towards your dental school tuition, so save as much as you can!

Go to the least expensive school possible. Remember, no one will ever care where you graduated from, all they care about is if you have a license to practice. Remember, schools have become a GREAT SOURCE for HIGHWAY ROBBERY!

From what I’ve read, govt student loans are tied to 10yr US Treasury bonds. They are coming to their maturity date and so that’s why the interest rate is going down.

I am trying to go to dental school for free 🤷🏻♂️ The HPSP and HPCP programs through the Navy is my strategy. As a navy veteran this is an awesome way to stay in the green. Also my i was able to utilize my GI Bill which paid for my undergrad.

This cost is includes materials? Like amalgam, Tofflemire and so on?
Materials are separate from tuition. It costs about 10k on top of your annual tuition.
Why not live with your parents for the next 3 to 4 years so you could pay it all off. Lol
Haha that would be tough in that time period but u def would still save a lot!
That $285k debt is bogus. That # includes people who had scholarships from the military to pay off school and all the students with rich parents who pay everything for them. It is not realistic for a normal person.
It definitely can be more depending on the school. Most students at my school will come out with up to 400-500K in debt

It honestly depends! Some make well over $1,000,000 while others are at about $100,000.
