Michael was the king of music and dance. He was the only reason that the Jackson got famous. May he rest in peace.
That's a lie. There were plenty of songs where he was not the lead. If there's never a Jackson 5, there would never have been a Michael Jackson. That was really dumb
This was the time of sweet & innocent Michael with his brothers. You could see his great talent & charisma even at this young age. The Jackson 5 had a lot of hits in the 60's-70's such as "I Want You Back", "Never Can Say Goodbye", "Rockin' Robin", "The Love You Save", "I'll Be There", "Mama's Pearl", "Sugar Daddy" etc. Michael Jackson's solo career started in the 70's with the songs "Got To Be There" & "Ben".
Their first Ed Sullivan Show predates this December 14, 1969.
Don’t forget their rendition of Santa Claus is Coming to Town. I love both their version and Bruce’s.
Absolutely born a star.
A small MJ. The father was living his dream through them. RIP Michael ❤
I hope he’s rotting in hell , child molester
MJ isn't dead. The establishment, who controlled him, were trying to destroy him and he was 'taken out' for his own safety. He is very good friends with Donald Trump and he wouldn't see anything happen to Michael. Michael knows how sick the music industry is and started talking out about it, which couldn't be tolerated. MJ will come back into the light once the evil has been dealt with, if he chooses to do so.
When I was 5 years old , I had cardboard records from the back of a box of Alpha-Bits of “ABC “. I also loved their cartoon.
The Jacksons: An American Dream. Music was Joesph's (their Dad's passion). He used the kids to live his dreams. Original lineup of The Jackson 5 was Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon, and Michael.
Watching these guys and the Osmond Brothers was so much fun back in the day.
I love both groups too!! little M J was so cute and can sing!!!
The Osmonds actually recorded One Bad Apple and were told to sound as close to the Jackson Five so folks would think it was them. It paid off and it went to Number One. However, despite their popularity The Jackson Five almost weren't in the White Teen Magazines but in 1971 Right On was created. It is the sister magazine of Tiger Beat.
The drummer Johnny Jackson (now deceased) and keyboardist Ronnie Rancifer, were friends that struggled with them back in Gary Indiana.
OMG! I was in 8th grade. Michael was a true but tragic talent.
What made the Jackson 5 particularly Michael stand out was he was so young, he can sing so well and he was singing love songs.
Most kids at that age do not have such control and ability to harmonize.
Appeared on American Bandstand on 2-21-1970, again 11 years old, it's a myth that Diana Ross discovered them.
Yes. Bobby Taylor of the Vancouvers did. He brought them to the attention of Barry Gordy.
They were 9 siblings in total 6 brothers 3 sisters. The original 5 were Tito,Jackie,Marlon,Jermaine, and Michael. Jermaine left and little brother Randy joined in 73.
Michael Jackson RIP was a great entertainer with a great voice... since he was 10
Whether we admit it or not all of us young girls in the 70's were in love with either MJ or Donny Osmond but we thought both were just adorable.
I agree, though I think that I was in love with both!
Michael, Post cereal company had this record on the back of the Post Alphabet Cereal box as a promo item. You were able to cut the record out if you followed the dotted lines. I cut the record out and played it on my parent’s stereo and the sound was unbelievably good. I was the same age as Michael Jackson in this video, 10 years old. What a great time to grow up in.
I remember those cardboard records - too bad they didn’t last long.
Man, those were good times!
The Osmonds are next….One Bad Apple or YO-YO❤
1:42 the two extras are Motown house musicians on keys and drums.. But no doubt, Joe Jackson trained his sons harder than a football coach to make them as good as they were.
They were part of Motown, so their music, outfits, choreography were chosen for them, just like for other groups, like the Temptations. It ran like a well oiled machine, and produced some of the best groups and music of that time. I was born the same year as Michael and was such a big fan of the Jackson 5!! I think you would like, "The Love you Save" and "I'll be There" 😊
its hard looking back on these shows knowing the backstories with their father and abuse but they were amazing
You must see Who’s is loving you Ed Sullivan Show
Michael never got to be a child. Bless him. One of the best ever.
The Osmonds were another family music group. 4 of the elder brothers began as a barbershop quartet . They reached the height of their fame in the early to mid-1970s. With the addition of Donny (BIG TEEN IDOL), the group became known as a rock band & launched them to the top. The Osmond and Jackson families meet in 1970's and become friends. Michael & Donny had experienced similarities being so young. Later in life Donny's career stalled & couldn't get a record deal. Michael gave him some advice... “‘Well, you got to change your name. Your name is poison!’” Donny recorded ‘Soldier of Love’ & the song was played as a "mystery artist". The promotion kept listeners guessing who the artist was for weeks. He's still performing. After 11 years in Vagas he's touring 3 countries and has 75 upcoming concerts. Both family histories are interesting.
I'm so happy this guy was able to enjoy this nice heartwarming music as much as I do..
I remember watching this and just couldn’t sit still. I was about 7. Lol such fun
Michael was a beautiful little boy. I wish he had been able to appreciate his natural good looks. He left us a lot of amazing music to enjoy.
Michael Jackson (born in 1958) was 11 or 12 at the time this song was released (1970). For several years at the beginning of Michael's career, Barry Gordy, the head of Motown records, lied about his age to make him seem just a bit more of a phenom. Gordy also made up the story that the group had been discovered by Diana Ross, another Motown star, which was a total fiction. They were actually discovered by Motown producer Bobby Taylor. Barry was hella promoting his label and his stars, building a mythology around them.
I love watching you react. You’re such a happy guy.
While the Jacksons speak for themselves, I feel like I should mention Dick Clark. For decades, he was known as "America's Oldest Teenager" with a rather youthful appearance until a stroke in the 2000s. He died in 2012, but if you watch the ball drop on TV from Times Square on New Year's Eve, ABC's program still has his name (Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve). In addition to hosting Bandstand, he hosted The $25,000 Pyramid and co-hosted TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes (with Ed McMahon).
amazing talent
Jackie and jermaine have such beautiful voices. Love jackies Ohhhhhh's
We called it bubblegum soul 😉 - silly, but they were so infectious you couldn’t help liking them.
However, their dad worked them like dogs (the precision you mentioned) and he was especially cruel to Michael who had no childhood as a result.
New Edition's inspiration for "Candy Girl."
Michael Jackson as a kid! I would run home from school..as a young girl to watch this..I am in my 70s now! It is so much fun to watch YOU! You are so charming!
The five comes from the ones singing and dancing. They are brothers!
This was from American Bandstand in 1970. the two other folks were Johnny Jackson (Drums) and Ronnie Rancifer (Organ) but were later let go. Johnny had a drinking problem but it was because he and Ronnie felt that they weren't appreciated. They worked with these guys when they were starting out then felt they were putting to the wayside. Michael was only 11 going on 12. This was performed in January 1970.
They were so cool
Actually he was 12. Hollywood wanted to say younger. Born in 58. This came out in 70
now this is the Michael Jackson I love!
Michael Jackson was certainly a child prodigy. I am off to see The Jackson 3 in a couple of weeks. Not sure what to expect!
Joe had them practicing day and night. Had them playing at strip clubs, bars, malls, talent shows, and got them well prepared for the stage. If you really wanna hear Mike sing so good at that young age, Who's Loving You is the one to listen to
I had no idea who was who. But I knew who Michael was.
I was 9 years old back then.😄 It was a fun time to be a kid - the Jackson 5, the Osmonds, plus the Brady Bunch and Partridge Family on TV. I always watched American Bandstand and Soul Train after Saturday morning cartoons. 😎 Thinking back I feel very lucky to have been a kid during the 60s and 70s.
The Jackson 5. Song: Who's Loving You on The Ed Sullivan Show. December 1969.
The choregraphy was part of Motown's talent factory. It was a signature of Motown for all their acts.
The Jackson 5 appeared at least twice on the Ed Sullivan show once on December 14, 1969 and again on May 10th 1970. Michael Jackson having been born on August 29, 1958 was 11 years old for both appearances, not 10.
In the tv movie they made a looonnnggg time ago they had a scene where they tell Michael to lie about his age and say he was younger. So he was like 11/12 but back then was saying he was like 9/10.
They are called The Jackson 5 because they are 5 brothers...
Micheal Jackson was a cute kid! ...and you have a jar of mayo behind you lol
It’s Michael Jackson!
Much of their early sound and presence was from the geniuses at Motown records including Berry Gordy and Diana Ross.
They are called the Jackson 5 because the five that are up front are the Jackson brothers.
Michael was 11 here, bro. Amost 12. Motown had him lie about his age.
What a time period it must have been then.
🧡😂 tfs!
You didn’t stick around for the interview with Dick Clark. He speaks to Michael and Michael knew how to speak to an adult without sounding bratty or disrespectful.
Hi man. We know this performance in France. It's an amazing song. It's so happy, perhaps one of the happiest song and performance I know. I understood almost all you said with the English subtitles. Thank you and congratulations bro 👍👍👍
5 family members
You have got to do Michael Jackson live concert song videos. He’s so great in concert. I feel it’s even better than his well known videos
Check out the Osmonds One Bad Apple
Their treated them awful, made them practice/rehearse for hours daily. American Bandstand was the best, showed us all to dance along with Soul Train.
It was 5 brothers in Jackson 5 the other 2 are apart of their band they just play instruments
If you like this you'd love The Osmonds from the same period. Check out their "Down By The Lazy River", or "Yo-Yo", or "One Bad Apple." You won't be disappointed.
To answer your question the two in the back were not in the group...They were just musicians for the group.
This is the old Michael I used to like as a kid. We were the same age. After his OFF THE WALL album, I lost interest. He was no longer the same person or artist. Check out his song "Ben", Mayoman.
You got it !
The 2 extras were their accompanists
👍🔥😊
The 5 in Jackson 5 refers to the five siblings in the front.
Please listen to , whos loving you or Ben , they are so good ❤
Could you react to Jingle Bells next? I know it would be a first time since apparently you've never heard of a single song in history.
This name refers to the 5 brothers.
The Jackson 5. I remember them well. I have a question, though. There are 7 people on that stage. I know the Jackson 5 are the 5 boys standing in the front. Is the keyboardist and drummer in the back part of the Jackson family or just background musicians?
I believe its there dad playing drums and there are more Jackson kids then these five
No their dad never was in their group.
Pls react to Michael Jackson bad live performance in 1992
thank motown
for the choreography😊
Ummm.......what's with the mayonnaise? 🤣
I'd rather listen to their songs over Thriller.
Little Michael Jackson. A great musical family aside from the horrible father.
American Bandstand - it's lip synced. No shade. Just is.
You think a child has no idea about "ABCs, 123s and Do re mis?" 🤔
They were so entertaining. It's a pity that Michael couldn't stay true to his actual identity
What do you mean by that
Born to b a star but they corrupted him. A shame. Thier dad beat till they got it right.
Could they have done it without Mike? No, god no.
Dude where did you grow up? Who doesn’t know dick Clark the most famous tv host of all time? 🤦♀️ millennials are so sad
