I saw a younger man not giving up on an older man after the competition- teaching him a lesson on grace and humility.
i haven't the slightest clue what i just saw lol...
Well said, Mikey ain't no slouch, he's an awesome guy
Huh? The older man acted like a sore loser.
@@ambientartphotography2245 nothing as fragile as a male ego of a fighter
Mikey acts like a toddler that got his toy taken when ppl don't want to have a hugfest after a match. And he looks at the crowd for approval and support like a wimp too. He's pathetic in that way.
Mikey is such a good person he doesn’t want his opponent to leave upset no matter what happened. RESPECT 💪🏾
I like Mikey but I want to call out this comment. Not your comment only, but it's one in a series of many like this praising Mikey but not acknowledging he could do better. In this particular instance here's why: I don't think Mikey did the best job in not upsetting Bruno here. After Bruno spat the dummy by refusing to shake his hand, the best move would have been to ignore and not make a thing of it and discuss it discretely afterwards. But instead Mikey very openly and publicly denounced him and led the audience into jeering at him. I like that Mikey is outspoken about this sort of thing, but in terms of social dynamics I don't think he handles at the best way. And his actions here were certainly not screaming "I really don't want Bruno to be upset". Not the best example to follow in my opinion.
@@swazza9999 Act childish and get childish treatment I guess. If they were friends or close family then doing it privately works. if they're two professionals setting the standard out in public teaches the sore loser a lesson and the world on what an example is set.
Have you thought about the consequences of him not doing what he did and the thousands of people plus the youth that watch this would think its okay to act the way the ex champ acted? at least now the world sees.
@@BM-wp7nh yeah but now all those people dream of humiliating someone in public like Mikey did. I think it was pretty obvious to most people that his opponent was being an ass. What's really subtle is that Mikey is kind of being one too. Bruno's mistake takes the emotional of maturity of a 15 year old to spot. Many adults may never learn to spot Mikey's.
@@swazza9999 from the angle in which you are approaching it what you are saying makes sense, ultimately both atheletes could've handled the matters in different ways.
Mikey could lack the wisdom as he was 24 there and as time goes by he would learn to react differently.
the other fighter was far more immature with his lack of respect to another fighter which to me justifies how someone would react the way mikey did with his lack of wisdom.
Yet the truth stands, if you were the salty athlete and you were treated like a 15 year old in front of the public you might have the ability to self reflect and learn from your wrongful attitude or build resentment.
Either scenario showcases that he is a salty fighter with a lack of emotional IQ and it has been shown to the world.
I could write an essay on why both of them have missed reality cues.
The reality still stands though, no one is perfect and majority of people would never be smart enough to capture the small details.
have a blessed day.
Mikey is such a class act. Much needed professionalism and heart for the BJJ culture and lots of years ahead to transform it for the good.
No he is not. He acts like a kid, even though he is almost 30. He is weird, awkward, and... whatever
@@BP-vr3rt wow, a response to my 2 year old comment! I agree with you - those are the reasons people like him - he doesn't fit the typical character (which I am sorry to say isn't usually anything to want to be)
@@BP-vr3rt and you hate online in CZcams comments and.... whatever
I looked him up and found this after an interview I saw that he did with Joe Rogan. He talks about pizza the whole time and it's great. He exudes a youthful/pure spirit. That's exactly how he comes across to me in this match.
@@BP-vr3rt He is 24 not 30.
Man, I remember being on no sleep after my bros bachelor party, getting on a bus at 6 am from San Diego to Long Beach to watch this...it was worth it!
dork
that's awesome. Had I known about it..I would of headed up there too from here in San Diego.
@@thebigboss2744 how
you have to shake Mikey's hand , he seems like such a genuine guy.
Nah
*sarcasm
It’s very Brazilian to be douchey though. So no shake for Mikey
@@moeveggies2292 no it’s not; why the acidity against an entire people? Bruno was frustrated and Mikey deserved the shake!
@@matheuscsmed yes it is , they think they are the only ones that can be good in this sport thats why they are all douchey
Mikey came out on top in more ways than one here.
I'll never forget this poor sportsmanship by Bruno. Could never look at him the same after acting like an absolute child after this loss.
I can totally understand not wanting to shake your opponents hand immediately after a BIG loss but to suggest you are going to shake hands and then pull away is nothing short of childish and poor character; your true self is shown in loss.
Give him a break bro ...Is the heat of the match.
@@jackostripes5452 Dude he pulled his hand away and brushed his hair like a child?
As tall as a child... as mature as a child.
it bummed me out. I love watching Bruno compete, but this made me lose a little respect for him.
Dude, they are not rolling in the gym, its Ibjjf worlds. Of course he is sour.
Mikey brings his opponents true character out. He humbles the prideful.
I saw this match live it was really exciting and the fake handshake thing everybody was really mad about for a while.
It would have funny if it was just a good spirited joke and he laughed and then shook his hand. Poor sportsmanship.
Fantastic match of pure skill. Bruno plays the rules for points and waits it out to re-sweep getting ankle grips early and waiting until the other guy is on top so I'm not sure what people are mad about with Mikey "stalling", they both play to the rules of the event and have the skill to do so.
I've watched some recently posted IBJJF clips of Marcelo and other greats back in the 2000s after a loss: shake hands or hug if you want, move on. Bruno has so much experience at the absolute highest level and still no class after losing to a new generation. It's a shame but I hope he can develop emotionally.
Nunca vi alguém merecer tanto a derrota, como o Bruno nesta luta.
Kkk vdd. Musumeci gênio
🤣🤣🤣
For real! What a sore loser.
Fue un mal perdedor
Mikey is literally a beautiful human being.
Bruno lost twice in my opinion
I love how the red just drags both of them to the middle of the ring
Bruno is salty
I think you would be too if you had just lost such an important tournament
@@abvgeikacare7243 Still, that's an act contrary to sports manship.
Abvgeika Care The respect must exist even if you lost the match, bro. In any sport or situation.
Showing a true lack of class and respect that seems to be rampant now.
What I really love about jiu jitsu is the honesty and genuineness it seems to inspire in the athletes, something about it just makes people very calm, cool and collected
It humbled you. I went to a free class at a local jiu jitsu and got absolutely wrecked by people far less physically imposing. Being in situations where your adversary can break your arm or choke you to death May the trivialities of life less important. It puts life into perspective and brings about balance
Probably the result of it being so nuanced and patience being needed to execute your plan. Not that striking doesn't have those qualities as well, it's just a little more suspectable to flash wins. But I'm sure its the culture surrounding it and what kind of etiquette they "demand".
Talks like a 7 year old, fights like a chess player.
He reminds me of the actor on the Good Doctor lol
Wow what magnanimity. This kid is a true champion and role model.
Man this was really moving... Great competitor
Mikey is one of those guys after he beats you up will offer his hand to help you up.
I really enjoyed that match.
Let's go mikey! I'm a fan now
Not sure whats worse , Bruno refusing to shake hands at end or Mikey hugging him for the last 30 seconds.
CHORÃO KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
BOBÃO KKKKKKKK
Happy to have seen this
🇧🇷🙏🔥💯. Tá ligado JIU-JITSU. Só os samurais os melhores.
👊🏼💥Oss,as🤫
Bravo, Mikey!
Wow look at 10:25 Mikey pops out his hip joint to clear the hook, crazy!
Wow
What is the name of the submission he used at the end?
@@poker1face I don't see any submission attempts in the last 5 minutes of the match, time ran out
The fact that the Brazilians in general (of course there are exceptions) can’t deal with defeat just makes me sick. It’s quite pathetic.
Mikey squints alot like me. He's probably almost blind without his glasses...and he still kicks everyone's arse hahaha
Mikey's strategy was good for catching Bruno.
Love the thumbnail
The young legend
7:15 did he smile at him 😂😂😂
I just watched a podcast with this kid on it he only ears once a day but when he does he takes in 7000 calories lol. Wow that's a meal plus works on his game all day everyday.
Mikey is an absolute G 😎!!!!
I would love to watch RDR roll in a competition. 6'5" and insane mat work.
It’s amazing how you can be a champion and loser at the same time.
The changing of guards!
It’s really hard for someone so damn humble to understand why (probably their idol) he could be so damn disrespectful
A soberba precede a ruína. Grande vitória do garoto!
Shout-out to Bruno a AMAZIN teacher.
Average fight fan watching this match: "WTF, this was so stupid. Nobody did anything"
Anyone with BJJ experience: "Holy shit, what a chess match! So much skill on display!"
you mean new BJJ guys alot of hold heads dont do leg locks, that being said bjj has gotten so damn boring with the leg lock game that slap BJJ came out , that being said plenty of great Leg fighters that are super exciting but those who dont watch any bjj and see this will just say ...why doesn't he punch the guy going for leg locks lol it just isnt good in a real fight look at Ryan hall and how he got smashed going for leg locks that how it looks when you fight going for leg locks against a trained opponent it only works super high percentage with folks who never train leg locks
@@rockzen8050 I disagree. and ryan hall has really a good resume, he may have got stopped by illia but hey that's the fight game its 50/50.
LOOOOOSEEERRR
Was the Eddie's wife at the end?
The struggle continued with words after the match haha
The handshake fake was unbelievable for a top level grappler. Made himself look like a fool to a younger guy.
Gi seems slow motion compared to no gi. The sub only rules seem much cleaner.
Definitely but then matches take hours and it's difficult to impossible to hold a tournament
What’s up with the time clock?
Legend has it there’s still 5:01 left on the clock
I'm really glad MICKEY WON!
We don’t talk about Brunooooooo
This ref is awesome.
convivio No espaço Releia. Nao argumentei nada.
@@user-xf4fl Boaa!! rsrs
What a dub. Unfortunate that he wouldn’t shake his hand, but it just goes to show even further why Mike is more of a champion than Bruno
Mikey so fine young man and athlet, you can't be "mad" at him
actions speak louder than words..
Good boy
Awe, baby Bruno 😢
Lol at the ref dragging them back to the middle
Honestly Mikey
Might need to
Learn
It’s okay if your opponents are pieces of shit. That’s why he destroys them so throughly
Musumeci complaining to crowd cause he wouldn't shake his hand is suspect😕..Let it go and go on with your life like a Man!.. He will eventually learn this once he moves out his mom's house.
Time to make some money 💰 Mikey. MMA ALL THE WAY!
Vitória e derrota faz parte.
Se conforme com a derrota.
Malfacine chorão ! da-lhe Musumeci
I love how they get dragged back into the center
i like the rolley poleys
Bruno is a great great fighter, but he losing his mind in the end 🤷🏻♂️ be humble my friend!
Bruno erased his entire legacy in 1 second with that sportsmanship. Hope to never have to see him again.
"Let's hope he wins" lmao he knew
Mikey was sticking his hand in his face. I get it. Like, get away for a couple seconds. Let me cry for a min. Imagine knocking someone out then sticking your hand in their face like "c'mon, what's your problem?"
MIKEY!
Ref is pretty close, I think he is trying to smell them
nothing like the double sit xD
Naw that fake hand shake to hair brush had me ☠️
No impact fighting?
Somebody explain how you score points in competitive BJJ for doing pretty much nothing? Position changes and grip changes isn't really winning is it?
Chorão kkkkkkk
That simultaneous guard pulling makes my eyes hurt...
another entry to the Big Book of Excuses
I dont actually understand how the first 4 points of each fighter was scored? Can someone explain? There was no sweeps or attempts at anything
"Throw him out!"
Bruno, dont cry baby..it's going to be ok...You can have some warm milk later at home.....
