Something is a 1970 album by Shirley Bassey. With her career having been in decline since the latter part of the mid 1960s, Something proved to be Shirley Bassey's comeback when it was released in August 1970. The title track single became her biggest UK hit for many years, reaching No.4 and spending 22 weeks on the chart. This was actually the second single featured on the album, "The Sea and Sand" having already been released earlier. The album was similarly her biggest hit for many years in the album charts, reaching No.5 and spending 28 weeks in the top 50.

"Something" is a song released by The Beatles in 1969. It was featured on the album Abbey Road, and was also the first song written by George Harrison to appear on the A-side of a Beatles single. It was one of the first Beatles singles to contain tracks already available on a long playing (LP) album, with both "Something" and "Come Together" having appeared on Abbey Road. "Something" was the only Harrison composition to top the American charts while he was in the Beatles.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney-the two principal songwriting members of the band-both praised "Something" as among the best songs Harrison had written. As well as critical acclaim, the single achieved commercial success, topping the Billboard charts in the United States, and entering the top 10 in the United Kingdom. The song has been covered by over 150 artists including Dame Shirley Bassey, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, James Brown, Julio Iglesias, Smokey Robinson, Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker, and is the second-most covered Beatles song after "Yesterday".

The power and potency of her voice is just unbelievable,.she can project her voice like an opera singer..maybe Witney on her prime..but shirley keep her vocal abilities all of her career..one and one she could easily eclipse any other female singer next to her including Celine dion..brilliant!!!.
When Shirley started in the business back in 1953, her operatic vocal abilities received much attention from classical artists. Many said she could have been become an amazing classical alto. She was given the choice to proceed with a POP career or train to become a classical artist. Because Shirley was born into poverty, the fastest way up and out of her current situation was through POP music. Shirley's voice was natural, and for the first 30+ years she never had a singing lesson. After the death of her daughter in 1985 due to mysterious circumstances Shirley actually lost her voice. The doctors said there was nothing drastically wrong with her; it was just grief over her daughter and she needed time to heal. She also met with a formal classical artist Helena Channel who was working at the time as a vocal coach. Helena gave Shirley some great recommendations, which Shirley took to heart. As a result, Shirley's voice became stronger, and she even found an additional octave she didn't know she had!

A lot of people agreed with you as Shirley's version sold as many, if not more units than the Beatles. George Harrison was an amazing writer, but there are just some songs that need an exceptional high-fidelity huge range vocalist to achieve a song's total potential. This was one of those songs!
