  • On Novemer 16th 2009 I was given the rare opportunity to attend a briefing with the 920th Rescue Wing, the Air Force Reserve Command's only combat search and rescue unit. The mission was to fly in support of the Space Shuttle Atlantis flight to the International Space station. The briefing and flight provide an interesting look into what it takes to support the possible rescue of a space shuttle crew either at the launch pad or in the Atlantic ocean. Three HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters are featured in this video which are part of larger support effort with multiple agencies and service branches.
