  • I love watching the first 30 minutes of another Artist work and I hope you enjoyed this as well! I was thinking of doing this for a series that is a bit different than just a Drawing with Dave, where those are just random sessions in any piece. This shows my exact first 30 minutes or so when diving into a fully rendered piece. Thanks for watching!

    I love how a blank canvas becomes more then just that, with a few lines even. It's so cool to watch it grow into something more.

    Big agree that this is the stage of a painting that is the most important to see from a pro. I personally get allot out of stuff like this. Please do make more of these videos !! You rock dude.

    I really like to see the start of a piece. It really helps you understand the idea behind the picture and it also inspires other artists to try it out for themselves.

    This is great, I have been trying to get a better grasp on how I should even start an Illustration, but I could never find where.. it amazes me how fast you got the anatomy of the character down, I can't even draw a head right lol

      Studies! Deconstruct heads that other artists have drawn and figure out the volumes/forms, understand the base that you're drawing details on and you'll improve massively!

    Any plans to do a series for background stuff or other artists you'd like to recommend for them? With your help, I've gotten pretty confident with my characters and have finally started to develop a art style. But I just can't wrap my head around backgrounds.
    Also anyone who reads this, please feel free to give advice as well!
    Side note, I enjoy watching the entire process. As long as there is commentary.

    Hey Dave! Your stuff has been a huge inspiration to the point I am now applying to a concept art diploma program and have been trying to take classes for it. I was wondering where you learned to render characters so well? I'm mostly self-taught but I am beginning to think that being self-taught might not be enough.

    I don't think the DG_Main brush I have works, or maybe if it is an older version... because it doesn't look as smooth for me as it does on your screen :/
    I get that it has texture, but 10 minutes into the video and that huge gray area to the right has a really nice smooth yet textured feel to it, and I can't get the brush to work like that unfortunately >

    • @DaveGreco
      @DaveGreco  Před 4 lety

      Hrm I would have to see it being used. I haven't heard of anyone having this issue. I wonder if there is some pressure settings of yours affecting it?

    • @ninjahmonki1368
      @ninjahmonki1368 Před 4 lety

      @@DaveGreco I made this entire artwork with the DG_Main, www.artstation.com/artwork/k4q2O2 (don't know if links work on youtube), especially the "mask" and his hoodie I had trouble blending the values, the blended area on the face and such I used the smudge tool for!
      Maybe I'm blind, but I at least didn't feel like I got the smoothness when painting as I often see in your works!
      And hmm, I am not too good with settings so I don't know what that could be xD
      Besides all of this though I do love the brush and the texture it gives, I also like the "feel" of it ^-^
