At the beginning of his journey is was hard cause it was social everyone drank around him and he hated being made fun of. I remember a friend said something to him and he started drinking in front of that friend just so shut him up. Then, little by little he did it. He was embarrassed to tell people he wasn't drinking anymore. So he would lie and say he was trying to lose weight. Then, one day can't remember when exactly he said "oh I don't drink". He no longer cares to drink. Then, there are some people who ask him "how did you stop drinking I could never do that" and he explains how he did and how better his life is cause of it. We are Hispanic and our culture loves to drink. When he sees people drunk or acting crazy he just shakes his head. I know you didn't ask me, but I felt I thought I would share a little bit. I've always had a beer problem. One of the ways I've dealt with it is to limit the amount of beer that's in my house. I no longer buy 12, 18 or 30 packs of beer because it'll be gone in one night. I can't stop drinking the moment I get that buzz. Depending on how strong the beer is, I even stay away from 6 packs. Part of it is just knowing yourself and not lying to yourself. I know for a fact I can't have large amounts of beer in my house because I'll drink it no matter what I tell myself.

She's 100% correct that you are unable to see the problem fully when you're in it, and you rationalize away the little parts that you can see as 'not a big deal' and that you have control. That's part of addiction's insidious nature. It's only after that you can look back and fully recognize the troubling behavior for what it was and how much it engulfed your life and controlled you.

For those of you that are saying it's "a choice" and it's no big deal I would like to tell you the story of my friend. She would get calls to her school from her mother and have to go home and take care of her mother when she was only in the second grade. She would go home and find her mother on the floor passed out. She would take care of her mother until she was a teenager and eventually her mother died. Whether it's a "choice" or not it devastates families and I am so glad that there is help for it other than just AA meetings. (which do help many people)
My mother also had a father who was an alcoholic and quit drinking when she was 16. By then it did cause problems within the family of course. It devastates the alcoholic and the family. Unless you have lived this first-hand you do not get it. I am appalled that people are responding to this video and saying it's just "a choice" and you can decide whether to drink or not. I am happy that your life is so perfect and you don't have anyone in your life that is addicted. I hope that your children don't grow up or any of your family members ever have to struggle with alcohol addiction. I truly mean that.

Another thing that you can do is eat ice cream before bed to help with the malt if you are a beer drinker. I’ve been sober for 21 years. Good luck and God Bless 🙏

I made chamomile tea with honey or hot chocolate my new drink. Told myself, tonight is tea night! Sleep as much as your body tells you to. When you see someone consuming alcohol, see inside them as their liver cries as it swells and sickens, and their heart beat faster and enlarges, and their brain matter physically degrades. Then plan your next morning, and how fresh you are going to feel while they are still passed out. You are free!!

NIACIN THE REAL STORY is a book I recently purchased on audible simply wanting to learn about B vitamins. What I found reading/listening to this book is that niacin was used in the 1940s for alcoholics, in mental institutions and for anxiety and depression. If used in high doses, patients actually stopped craving alcohol and fully recovered. Patients walked out of mental institutions after weeks of niacin. This information of course has been suppressed. The guy who formed AA struggled for many years after giving up alcohol. He had severe depression, migraines, anxiety. He was willing to meet the doctor who was promoting niacin and sure enough after several weeks, the founder of AA was " cured". He no longer struggled and began implementing niacin and saw patients recover. Of course the government shut this down and that was the end of that. So sad that there is actual help yet it's being suppressed. Check out the book! Very fascinating and niacin is so inexpensive. I take 500 to 1,000 MG a day for circulation. Even though I don't drink or have that addiction I still wanted to share
