    My problem is pen angle. When I watch you, you seem to be very straight up and down. That's where I struggle. I've got two fills down and not sure if it's from pressing or paper. I've now changed to this UP paper

    • @HowtoHandLetter
      @HowtoHandLetter  Před 6 lety +4

      Yes, when I write I keep the angle the same and the only thing that changes is the pressure (unless I'm readjusting my grip). It has taken a lot of practice because that's not how our minds are trained to write, but it gets easier to have a steady hand with time and practice! Good lucK!

    I'm stuck all the way back on the beginning with the two types of lines. I can press down and get a wide stroke going down and I can write with the tip and get a thin line (although not as thin as yours). But I can't transition between the two, so I don't get your smooth flow.

    • @tanyalevandoski396
      @tanyalevandoski396 Před 5 lety

      I would probably stay away from using these on regular paper like that of a composition notebook. the brush tips fray easily when used on regular notebook or printer paper. I always suggest using something like a Rhodia pad which has great smooth paper. Or if you're just practicing, you can use HP laser printer paper or even tracing paper. both are safe for your brush tips.Link for hp paper below. Hope that helps! www.amazon.com/HP-Premium-Choice-Laserjet-11-inch/dp/B01NBJKYTU/ref=as_sl_pc_tf_til?tag=handlettere0c-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=0d96f4b486fcad01b0715ed2083cc920&creativeASIN=B01NBJKYTU

    I just bought a tombow dual tip to try my hand at lettering but the tip is hard such that i can’t do like a broad brush unlike the way it is done in the video using the same pen. Can anyone advise if the pen is defective or it will soften over time ? I’m wary of exerting too much pressure in the tip.

    hello!! i have recently bought the hp premium choice laserjet paper using the link in the description. however, i've been facing a problem - the ink smudges because im a lefty. i pause after every stroke, even so, it still smudges and my end product does not look too good. do you have any tips? thank youu

      Ugh I feel your pain. Lefty here! the smudging comes with being a lefty but it is possible to drastically cut down on smudging when you figure out a different way to hold your hand. I have learned to put my hand above my words when writing so I don't smudge. You can also write underneath like you would in traditional dip pen calligraphy. You would just need to turn your paper. I have a ton of videos that may help within my FB group and IG. I also have a free mini-course with downloadable worksheets if you want to take a look, www.tanyalevandoski.com/signup

    Is it okay to use them on a bullet journal?? Like the lemone one or Leutschurn 1917?

    So, I just got some of these today, and one of mine is writing as if it almost out of ink. None of the others do it. Any tips?

    the tip of my Tombows become very weak very quickly so it’s difficult to control the thickness of my upstrokes. are there any tips for ensuring the tip doesn’t get damaged so quickly? or is it just inevitable that that will happen...

    Do you think the Canson XL watercolor paper is good as well? I just ordered the 96 color pack and I don’t want to ruin them by using the wrong paper. Please reply!

      Yes! I use that often for watercoloring and really like it! I probably wouldn’t use new brush pens on it because it’s really textured, but once they get frayed I don’t mind using them on more textured paper if I want to use watercolor paper. :) hope that helps!

    Is the color blending pen in with the tombow brush pens set?

    I have the Tombow and i find it sooo hard to use !! Would you say the aqua brushes are on the same difficulty level as the tombow pens?? I was thinking about getting those and ink as an alternative!

      It's not uncommon for people to struggle with them! They're not the easiest. Do you mean the aquash water brush? If so, yes I definitely think they're easier to use - especially if using watercolors because watercolors are so forgiving! Here's a video where I talk about some good brush pens for beginners: czcams.com/video/VwSvtWnt6L0/video.html Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
