I’m sure they all new it was the end 😢It’s us fans who didn’t know ! I was devastated when I found out , especially as it was 6 months after it had finished!!
Yep the end too the best cop show ever made that formula was copied many times but it was never duplicated ......Paul micheal glaser directed this episode.he wanted starsky too die but the powers that be changed the script at the last min ....the show was scheduled for one more season but Paul said he had enough if you look closely at opening scenes you can see there actually dismantling the set when capt dobey comes out off his office you can see the wall and ceiling are all read taken down ...I’m sure the tag ending was fully un scripted ...as most off Dave and starsky actually Ad lib. Over half there lines in the show.and constantly battled the writers over the violence off the show that’s why they always added some comedy too the story lines too take away from the violence...which no police dramas have today it’s all about the over the top violence...and in your face brutality.....family tv no longer exists.👍
By watching this again there came a question to me: they managed to creep in but how did they intend to get out again :p:p surely not unnoticed anymore :D

"I gotta have a light to eat". Love that line but as fun a scene as this is, I was hoping for a different, more poignant finale. This was just a funny scene and not one I'd image a cop series of this magnitude to end on. I think the "Target's without a Badge" episode ending, when they toss their badges into the ocean was a killer scene and how the series " should have ended". Either way, this was a great show and even though I hated Hutch's mustache and some of the cheesy latter episodes nothing beats Starsky and Hitch.
