    Thank you.
    I've always thought I was "doing it wrong" when mixing up different colours because no one ever shows how they do it. Now I know I'm on the right track and how to get one of my favourite colours - peach!

    But the white takes away the translucency that is the hallmark of watercolors. That’s why watercolor artists don’t use white. It makes the paint opaque. Makes it tough to glaze or layer

    • @jenfar72

      Not all watercolours are translucent and not all whites are opaque. Some watercolour artists use white and some don’t.

      Jenny Farrell - “White watercolor” is actually gouache, which is water-based, but not transparent. Most watercolorists use the white of the paper to suggest that color or tone.

  • @laschizo
    @laschizo Před 8 měsíci

    The only reason why some watercolor artists refuse to use white is because it is an opaque color, I guess that´s what you meant by "chalky"? As the beauty of watercolor resides in its transparency, using an opaque pigment like white neutralizes this effect, but in the end, there is no right or wrong, it´s all about the kind of effect you want to achieve in your painting!
