- In this episode, I visit Nate - a talented and passionate watercolor botanical artist, whose studio can be found within Baan Kang Wat - an artist village in Chiang Mai. Nate’s charming studio is adorned with live plants and fantastic works of art. While I don’t have the patience to take up this craft, botanical artistry is something I adore with all my heart. I was ecstatic when Nate agreed to be interviewed to share his insights and experience.
In the later half of the episode, I take you on a virtual plant tour in and around his enchanting plant-filled studio.
This is one of those spots where I could keep shooting pictures for a week straight and still not be bored😄
😀😀 its amazing how every corner is staged effortlessly to look naturally good
LOVE THE BEGONIAS.....
THE ART WORK IS STUNNING....
THANKS SEAN...
🕊✨️🙌💙🙏💚🙏💙🙏🙌✨️🦋

Oh yes artists see the world in different ways. And they have so much patience
That’s a multi talented artist. Thanks for taking us along Sean!
Thank you❤️
this man is incredibly talented!
😀❤️
Beautiful collaboration with non-human organisms ✨ As an eco/bioartist myself, I know the importance of an inspiring, plant-filled space for inspiration, and it is always exciting to see other artist's inspirations.
Yayeee
Thank you for new video, sean can you visit caladium nursery in thailand, i really want to see it...
Caladium is always underrated plant except in thailand so it's hard to found someone filming about caladium😢😢😢
Thank you for your help
I love Caladium too! :)
@@StanWatt. me too, in my country caladium hybrid from thai is so expensive

Love the place.....the plants & the paintings... captivating.
Thank you ❤️
OMG, bucket list destination!
😀😀
You said” not a lot of cool plants here” speak for yourself!😆 I find it so cool. I love the way he effortlessly plant and place his plants. He seems to just let them do their thing without fussing over them. Mr . Sean , if possible could you dig into the soils and tell us what’s being used - the way you explain the peanuts on top of the soil. 😅😊 thanks *** I don’t live in the tropics, so I need all the help I can find or get.***
Haha I have a good potting mix that I use thats why I rarely need to find out what others are using. Type in “onlyplants potting mix” in the search bar, we have a few episodes detailing the ingredients and their pros and cons
I will definitely visit this place when I go the Chiang Mai in January!
This artist village is my fave thing in Chiangmai 😀
you always go to such interesting places ! Thank you so much !
Yeah I feel so grateful. Also for the opportunity to share this with the world!
I also have a little studio/workspace at home and am trying to get more plants in there! I'm a fashion designer and handknitter so I need lots of space and I also need to keep things clean! I would also like frame and hang all the prints I've gotten from art fairs these past few years. I love how Nate uses the industrial metal and concrete with aged wood. Looks great with all his plants! I need to go antiquing!
Nice!!! i used to work in fashion. But I cant knit to save my life 😅
The begonias....just wow
😀😀😀
Omg! I really love the painting of the banana plants 😍 Wish I could paint like that.
Me too! 😅 but even with one wrong stroke… bammmm.
Arts & plants, niceeeee.

My goodness, I’m amazed by the water color paintings. Extraordinary. And the plants make endless inspirations.

Beautiful artwork and plants 😀🇨🇦🎄
Thank you ❤️
Love this place. Thanks for the video.
I recently went to Phuket and a friend’s friend is a dentist. We went to his clinic which is an estate and the outdoor area is an absolute jungle! I spotted beautiful philodendrons that indoor people usually train up moss poles but in this case is growing up trees. Too bad I didn’t stay much longer to really check out his garden.
Thai people have so much love for plants and garden
Excellent!
Great video once again! Merry Christmas Sean and all the very best to you for the new year! 🤗🌿💜🎄
Happy New Year 😀😀😀
I loved this video.
❤️❤️
Absolutely love the artwork! Especially the naturalistic look. Watercolor is my favorite medium. Wonderful space to work and grow plants!
Thank you. Watercolor is also one of the harder painting styles, very unforgiving 😀 so much respect

Ooh my! Thank you again Sean for sharing yet again, another amazing content. What an incredible artist and a beautiful person that he is. Incredible paintings and the bananas are so alive and vibrant reminded me of my childhood back in a small village of the Philippines.

Sean, for the life of me I thought you were saying, "Fucculents" LMAO! Some of them should be called that. Thailand is looking cool, too.

I do that with peanut shells too, I thought it's a waste it is such a good mixture to the potting media.
Interesting… I wonder if they can be crushed and used as amendments
lol, i use pistachios shell
Sean I wonder if the first painting with the pink flower you showed is of a Medinila?
This was a great video. We will be sure to visit when we travel to Chiang Mai in 2025.
I dont think its a medinilla… but I could be wrong. They wouldve made nice subjects though
❤❤❤
😀❤️❤️
Obrigado pela experiência ❤
😀❤️
At time stamp 4:38, the cactus you are referring to is a Euphorbia Enterophora.
Cool, thank you 😀
❤🥰🌿🥰🌿🥰🌿
❤️❤️
Looks great, and Peaceful love the Succulents ❤ are you familiar with Flamingo lily?
Oh I believe the scientific name of that is Anthurium andreanum. I have some and talked about them in a few episodes ❤️
@onlyplants Thank you so much I will go look it up and read it over Thanks.
I wanted to get into water coloring and it was not easy. I unfortunately gave up lol
I should try again….maybe
My ficus triangularis likes to drop all its leaves every winter and then grow them all back again in the warmer months. It’s currently dropping its leaves now. They are so finicky.
Yes they are quite unforgiving… they drop leaves even when you look at them the wrong way.
❤
❤️
You cough my attention with the cat
cats are magic 😀
Its not lime, its some sort of mandarin/loquat mix 😁 here for us its an auspicious plant and stands for wealth when you keep it in a pot around the house krub 😊👍
Ahhh interesting… it resembles plum more than citrus?
It will look like a tiny mandarin, somewhat more perfectly round than oval 😁
What’s his instagram handle and how to buy his paintings?
