    The reason Tyrrell hates the line on top is because the human side vision will always fool us. When looking from behind, we are at our best because human vision is binocular and this is where we are accurate. So trust what you see from behind and ignore what you feel from beside the ball; use an intermediate point just a few inches in front of the ball (that you chose from down the line of course)nand stay with it; on all shots.
    This is great work here guys, lots of fun watching!

    What a great video and great 9 holes. I hope Harry Flower sees this to see what kind of golf the Tour players like Tyrrell play. (Of course he knows!) They are definitely on another level. I have no idea who Radar is (I gather he's a golf commentator), but he's great and very funny. I need to find his other videos now.

    Radar, these are great, remind me of the classic round with Allis. Tyrell played such easy relaxed golf and great to see though I was never a huge fan of his I now have a new found respect for him and his game and his chosen favourite colour. One thing of note, these younger guys are not as talkative/interesting as the more seasoned pro. I guess that comes with age.

    Hi Radar - Could you expand a bit more on Tyrrells set-up position that you mention around 16 minutes into the video ?

    • @MadRS
      @MadRS Před 4 lety +1

      I'm not Radar (obviously) but the setup he is talking about relates to a straight line running from the left shoulder through the left wrist and down to the leading edge of the iron. This should be the same from a wedge right through to a long iron. It promotes a descending strike on the ball when the ball position is correct. Many people think that the bottom of the golf swing is in the middle of your stance but it is actually, naturally under the leading armpit.
      Greg Norman (I was coached by a gentleman named of Charlie Earp who was Greg's early coach) for a standard shot with an iron would actually not move the position of the ball, he would only vary the width of his stance depending on the length of the iron (wider with long irons and narrower with short irons). The ball itself was always inside the line of his left armpit (as in a inch or 2 back from his left armpit towards the centre of his stance). This provided a consistent downward strike and consistent delivery of loft from each iron. The ball position would only change with woods off the ground (directly under the left armpit) to sweep the ball off of the grass and just slightly in front of the left armpit with the driver off of the tee to promote a slight sweep up on the ball. This technique made Greg Norman on of the best strikers of the driver (very long in his day with persimmon drivers) and arguably one of the greatest iron strikers to ever play the game.
      I hope this is fairly clear.
