      Why & how? He appears to be under 40 without any apparant comorbities and how the vaccine companies deal only with state actors & a very few select multi national entites like Covax, WHO, Fosun, etc. They defintely should not deal with multi billionaires. Now sending him sufficent proper 3M/Honeywell N95/N99s that a different issue & quite doable.

    • @anderslvolljohansen1556
      @anderslvolljohansen1556 Před 2 lety +6

      @@TheRabidDolphin99 They are multi-billionaires because of talent, hard work and luck. Some of them forget the last one, and therefore think much more highly of themselves than is deserved. Most people who have just as much talent and work just as hard don't become multi-billionaires.
      When a multi-billionaire spends many billions on luxury for oneself and immediate family, it's a sign of narcissism: I spend enormous recources on unnecessary selfish pleasure, which could alternatively be spent on saving lives of poor people. My selfish pleasure is therefore more important than other people's basic needs.
      They are not multi-billionaires because of pathological greed and selfishness, but their success may have made them more narcissistic than they otherwise would have been. They should consider the lucky circumstances that contributed to their success, and if they have time to spare, should not spend it on luxury cruises on private mega yachts, but on using their knowledge of what those circumstances were and help improve opportunities for young people. Rather than pulling their ladders up after themselves, they should make more ladders for the next generation. Part of such a ladder is high quality education, which a large part of the young don't have access to. Another part is a healthy diet, which many can't afford, and a third is good health care. Good health is necessary in order maintain the mental fitness to make good use of quality education.

    In 1960 as a ten year old I was fortunate to visit Uganda. It looked like paradise. Good roads and friendly people. We pitched our tents wherever we got to and had not the slightest issues. The cars for the "Ex-Belgian" Congo (with their blue license plates) were going the other way - not surprising what was happening there.
    The (in the eyes of a ten year old) little "Indian" shops in Kampala and Entebe I do remember, all along the main streets. It looked like a little Durban. That was before Idi Amin.
    I watched fishermen pull nets from Lake Victoria.
    I remember the crater lakes like Kabale and the Ruvenzoris. Canaba Gap, beautiful landscapes, bamboos and a volcano in Rwanda/Burundi (Too vague in memory), the Murcheson falls. What a lovely place it was.
    Thank you for the contribution!

People criticized Canada for buying doses through COVAX but that was the whole concept of buying through COVAX, to donate doses to less fortunate countries and to give COVAX paying orders to negotiate deals with the pharmaceuticals with. Out of the G-7, only Canada and Japan are full members of COVAX who buys doses through the multilateral program. The question is why does all of the G-7 including Canada and Japan, undermine the COVAX negotiations ability by also negotiating bilateral agreements with the pharmaceuticals instead of ordering all their doses through COVAX.
