Abed was amazing in this episode. At first he loved the idea, because it allowed him to quantify all the things he can't understand, like feelings and social interaction. So he could fit in
Then he was raised to five beans, and considered better, which is also a kind of different. But Abed doesn't want to be better than everyone else, he just wanted to fit in.

The homage episodes (this episode, paintball, floor is lava, etc.) in Community are some of the best tv content I’ve ever seen.

Love how shirley and jeff were butting heads for power this entire episode, but the moment britta gets it, they immediately know its gone too far
They understood that Britta is a person who cannot have any power, or else it would be worse than either of them having power.
Love that when Jeff says "time to pull the plug" he could have stopped this nonsense at any time he just didn't want to.
Same with the Great War of Blanketsburg and Pillowtown. He didn't want to go to class.

Kinda shows that Britta's a bit of a hypocrite. She claims that she doesn't want humanity to be governed, but her attitude quickly changes when she's the one people flock to. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

What if Jeff and Shirley didn't stop Britta, and the next day Britta decreed that no religion can be practiced or even mentioned by name at Greendale? People change, agendas change. To control the fate of so many is too much control for any 1 person. The best you can do is pass it around between good peoppe every once in a while.

Honestly this whole episoe was a really interesting case study in politics and power.
More about money makes money: those with already higher ratings got to play the system by weighing in on everyone else's rating.

Not really it’s a tv show with little in the way applicability or correlation to events irl, more just a what if window like Fahrenheit 451 and 1984. Good stories but unfortunately just stories (regardless of how close the real world comes to mimicking them).

Ode to politics. A small group takes control and then lose it because they r a small group. I love how they use god fearing Shirley to dictate ruthless behaviour. Then communism comes along for equality and that ends. Britta is the worst so her political career was going to b short lived. Jeff can make a charismatic speech and then everyone deletes the app and goes to normal life. Someone needs to point out the hypocrisy of politics but we will never get there unlike greendale.
