Hickok check yours for any additional cylinder end shake if you get light primer strikes. Had my 6 inch for a year with less than 150 rounds fired and 90% were 44 Special type loads. Started getting misfires in DA and also found .006 of cylinder end shake which wasn't like that when new. Greatly disappointed in the durability of this "beefy" Colt. It is back at Colt for repair since you can't just shim the cylinder like a Ruger. Question is will it happen again? And this is it's 2nd trip back since new...first time it needed a new barrel!

I own a .357 Python and a S&W 629 .44 magnum. Can’t decide which one I like more. Both are great wheel guns.

I have a 629-6 I just removed the stupid lock safety and installed a plug in its place.

When it comes to revolvers, the Colt Anaconda is my favorite.

Had the 6inch anaconda and 8inch new version . Sold them and got the ruger redhawk 7.5 and 5.5 inch I prefer those . And thanks to you Hickok they were purchased at buds gun shop .

I, too, replaced the grips of my Anaconda. I like to think I'm a more clever person than I am, so I had Eagle Grips make me custom grips using apple wood.
I was, and still am, very proud of the fact that I associated an apple and a snake with one another.

Hi mr Hickok. AWSOME. What a nice revolver. Is it as nice as Colts 1911. Because if the answer is yes. Then what a beautiful revolver. I have 2 colt 1911s a 1943, and a newer one. Perfect describes them. My 44 is a Ruger super Blackhawk hunter. And it's a deer harvesting machine. I shot a deer last year at 60 yrds. Stem to stern shot. With hardcast lead bullet. The blood trail was a puddle. My companion rifle is a henry brass bigboy. With a 1-5 Leopold scope. It's a solid 150 rifle. I absolutely love 44 mag pistols and lever action rifles. God bless. . I have struggled with the sights on my Anaconda as well. Point of impact is high. I had to put on the Wilson Combat sights too. They are well constructed but can’t move low enough for most loads. My lower power loads will hit at the elevation of the lowest setting or 1 click up on the sights but higher power loads all impact higher. It is a beautiful revolver but between the point of impact issue and the heavy single action trigger, it frustrates me. The only real advantage it has over a S&W is the ability to handle +p loads. I don’t really need to shoot 340 gr +P+ loads so I might trade up for a 6.5” 629 classic at some point. I have a 4” 629 and it might be my favorite firearm in my collection.

I bought a Colt Anaconda 6in, back in 93, I believe it was. Had it for 10 years, needed the money, and sold it. One of my biggest regrets I've ever made. To this day, I wish I never sold it.

Don't feel bad, I bought a NIB S&W 6" 686 in 1984 for $245 at a Columbus, OH gun show. It was a tack driver.
I did not need the $$ but sold it in the 1990's and replaced it with a 4" Ruger GP-100. I like my GP-100, but how foolish was that??
Unfortunately I have had handguns save my life by selling them so I could eat...lol Never again though, I would rather starve!!
I've shot both the old and new anaconda. I can confidently say that if you miss it, get the new one. You'll like it much more.
Me too! I wish I had that one back. I wanted to swap out the 6 inch for a four inch model, and sold the 6inch only to learn that Colt had discontinued their line of revolvers. So I am still waiting for a 4 inch Anaconda.

@@jesseholladay5862 I don't know man, those Ruger revolvers are no joke and there's a reason why they're made extra beefy to handle super-spicy handloads and whatnot (and this is coming from someone who's a diehard fan of the Model-29)

I wonder if the Wilson combat front sight is a different width than the stock front sight… If so, it may be advisable to install the Wilson front sight as well, so that the site picture is matched up for the gap in the rear sight

Hey Hickok. Ive been wanting a bear gun. Nothing brutal on my hands but capable of doing the job. .44 mag seems to fit the bill. Ive struggled between an anaconda and a S&W that has gone through the custom house. There are a couple S&W's that are sold that fit the bill. One is their adjust weight target 44 mag the othere I believe is a 629. Whats your thoughts on the best overal handgun in a 6 in barrell?

I have one of the new 8" anaconda it does seem to shoot better than the old model but I may switch to a 6" anaconda for ease of handling.

Can you try out the Smith & Wesson model 629 classic in 5-inch barrel?
i had just got my FFL when the Anaconda came out in the 1980's. I remember they were going for about $380 wholesale. I was always buying up varmint rifles so never seemed to have the extra funds to get the Anaconda. Still irritates me that I never got around to buying one considering what you got at such a good price. :(

A Colt Anaconda 44 Magnum is the gun Jack Reacher is carrying at the very beginning of the book “Persuader”, which season 3 of Reacher is based upon, and just announced for release in 2025.
The Altamont finger groove grips are very thick. Happy with mine on my anaconda

Sweet I got a 1990 Anaconda 4in barrel(I bought NIB 1990) and still love and carry.
At a closer look of video at the 6:50 mark both shots were at the right in the branches and leaves. I also experienced frustration sighting in mine.
One of the best looking revolver out there.
Idk what it is but the recoil of the gun reminds me of black mesa
Nice ,but I still like my 629 6 better .😁 The grip design of the Anaconda/Python causes me pain in my hand when I fire them but I can shoot my 629/686 all day with full power loads with absolutely zero pain .

Bought the same 8” barrel Anaconda right when your first video came out. Immediately ordered the Wilson sights. Still need to sight it in since installing them. That revolver is my crown jewel though. Love it. Now trying to find the new Marlin polished SBL lever gun in 44Mag to pair with it.

I think they are still worth the current price.
In 1994 I paid $450 for mine.
You hit about 5 foot right of the gong with the magnum ammo saw the splash in the leaves

Just picked one of these up a few weeks ago ! Absolutely love it. Super accurate, nice tight tolerances too. Just expensive to shoot. Much rather watch you shoot that one 😂😂😂

same thing with my 2020 python. i couldn't shoot it well due to the sight that moves. replaced with the wilson sight. much better and grouping improved as well as replacing the grips with hogue grips.
I have one just like it. Except mine is a 22. And it's a Harrington & Richardson. Lot of fun though.

Someone makes Bill Jordan grips. He had huge hands apparently and they are supposed to be thicker. Good video and gorgeous gun!
