Dollar for dollar within the game onas are by far the best value melee unit in the game and they only have one counter - archers. They are also faster than archers so they can run away if necessary but you make your unit comps to counter their weaknesses. Backed up by their own archers, for example, which as also faster and can't be easily kited. So they onas can rush a line of archers and a line of archers in the back will mow down archers that try to kite. If you're up against heavy infantry backed by archers then you'll need either mangos or horsemen to go directly to the archers and draw fire while the onas do their business.

@@Kato99 Onas of equal value will slaughter knights and horsemen. You can field 3 onas for every knight. Veteran onas do more dps than Veteran French Royal knights as a group.
@@chrisnewtownnsw knights being able to charge, back off, and charge a second time puts them at a huge advantage against infantry. onnas clap horsemen though

They can reach further then regular infantry. Its the same with the japanese pikemen. So samurai in front and backfill with pikes and ona.

@@Kato99 in other vids the knights don't actually counter them in an equal resource fight
