Have you ever wanted to film an actor walking through a solid door like Patrick Swayze does in 'Ghost'? In our latest visual effects tutorial we show you how! We took the effect one stage further by using real camera movement and touching / moving the door to prove it is real at the start and the end, kind of like a magician.
Speaking of magicians, this is also a little similar to Zach King's style of video magic, which is often done in one single take (or at least made to look like a single take!)
You can create a basic version of this effect in most modern edit programs like Final Cut Pro X or Premiere, as long as there is a keying tool to remove green screen. For ours we composited it in After Effects.

The facial expression you make as you walk through the door is a similar one to mine when I'm doing my morning business on the loo.
Nicely done, Steve! A lot more to it than I had imagined, but then that's what helps sell the effect.

Have you tried using the wiggler module ? It makes it really easy
to keyframe the wiggle without messing around with expression
sliders and has more options for perfecting wiggles.
That was nice as always. Can you also make a tutorial on color correcting and grading, i love how you match your clips with the Hollywood videos.

Doing a glow around the person to make them look more ghost like and doing a night shot might help it but that would take more work and stuff. Maybe add lighting to the glow too. like raiden from mortal kombat. lol

When pre-composing, when and why would you move all attributes? Thanks
If you do not move all attributes, you can still alter the effect controls in the effects panel. If you move all attributes, the layer's effects become baked in as if it were a piece of footage. You must move all attributes when pre-composing more than one layer.

Rippling the door ruined the effect instead of improving it. To improve it I would have used a more accurate masking of the body and harder edges

Some years ago I discovered that I could use my tv as a projector to cast an image of myself dressed in white clothes and hat prerecorded against a black sheet enabling me to project myself into a miniature set positioned behind a large pane of glass, no computer so buy cheap low budget fx
