    I know that you made this quite a few years ago, but I wanted to give you a BIG thank you for keeping this video up! I just stumbled upon it, and I’m so glad that I did ☺️! I watched a few others, but yours honestly was the icing on the cake 🧁☺️!

    Wouldn't it be even more eco friendly if you wash it, in the washing machine rather then throw it out at all? Unless of course you have to. But washing it really should keep it tidy for longer, awesome idea.

      When she talked about throwing them out after a month, she meant the nylon ones that are purchased.

    If you like Susan Bates hooks try their Luxite white hooks. They are amazing.

      I’ve tried those! They’re good, but I prefer a metal hook to a plastic one. ❤️

    Make sure it’s cotton or we are putting micro plastics into the water supply.

    My mom made me one of these, she used bamboo viscose yarn. I've used it a couple of times, it feels like it absorbs too much soap and doesn't lather the soap on my skin. Also, it takes incredibly long to dry, and the edges have turned brown after only three uses (not sure if that's dead skin cells or mould... But it makes me feel dirty to use it!) Then I've asked her to make another one with cotton yarn and use a looser tension stitch, which she did, but I still have the same problem... Any tips and tricks to prevent these problems?

    • @shakibzz
      @shakibzz Před 4 lety +2

      I’m wondering this too! What material makes this be better... I feel like cotton would take a millennium to dry

    • @lodeleaf6401
      @lodeleaf6401 Před 4 lety +1

      @@shakibzz I tried both cotton and bamboo viscose. The bamboo viscose works ever so slightly better, but still needs to be washed in the laundry after about ever third use, and takes a day or two to dry after use. So I hardly use it, it's impractical, but it's a nice conversation starter ornament in my living room :-) I prefer a crocheted wash cloth for normal washing, or an actual loofah (dried plant) for a bit more exfoliation than a normal wash.

    • @shakibzz
      @shakibzz Před 4 lety

      LodeLeaf thank you!!! I’ll make a wash cloth instead of a loofah I think then 🥳 I love that you have it hung in your living room haha 😆

    You mention something about yarn mill ends when you're recommending yarn.. do you have a link you could share on where you get those from?

    • @KnitGrit
      @KnitGrit  Před 5 lety

      I get yarn mill ends from my local yarn store (Lys) but all you need is worsted weight cotton :)

  • @mandylavery4558

    I crocheted 1 of these, not using this tutorial. I used cotton yarn it didnt lather up & takes forever to dry. Looks great but totally impractical

  • @paulammorgan24
    @paulammorgan24 Před 8 lety +1

    Did you change consistently all the way around with the slip stitch or did you rotate and turn your stitch around because I've seen it both ways done I just wanted to make sure which way yours was done

    • @KnitGrit
      @KnitGrit  Před 8 lety +1

      How do you mean? I don't think I quite understand the question. I don't slip stitch except for in the beginning and the end, otherwise I'm just placing 4DC in every stitch that came from the previous round.

    • @WINXLEVOSS
      @WINXLEVOSS Před 5 lety

      I get what you’re saying, I think that’s why she said it’s good to have a stitch marker so you can see where your row ends and then you can just go up after that row is completed to start your next row.

      +Codi Booher ant recommendations on a brand? I've seen spool cottons that are super rough, and I'm most familiar with Red Heart and Bernat yarns.

    • @KnitGrit
      @KnitGrit  Před 8 lety +2

      +palmer Husky I used Lily's and Cream from A.C.Moore on this project, any worsted weight cotton yarn will do. :) I also really like the Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton brand, but it is a bit thinner than Lily's and Cream so if you want it to be a thicker loofa (not by much, mind you) then I would say go that way. I think Hobby Lobby's I Love This Cotton is a stronger yarn, though.

  • @mandee4132
    @mandee4132 Před 4 lety

    There’s a step missing.....you went from your 20 single crochets to having 4 doubles already in a stitch. Did you slip stitch the circle together and turn your work?

    • @KnitGrit
      @KnitGrit  Před 4 lety +2

      Actually, I’m working in the round! I just go back into the first single crochet I made four times and go from there! :)

    Wait you throw them out every month????? You can just wash and dry them in ur machine!!! The beauty of these is that you can keep them almost forever. After a while it will get worn out but you can COMPOST it or you can also mend/repair it with ur yarn needle. If you feel you need a new pouf every month thats ur perrogative but please consider washing and donating them instead of throwing them out

    • @KnitGrit
