- My Dailymotion Channel www.dailymotion.com/FerrellSo... My Dailymotion Channel www.dailymotion.com/FerrellSo... "Ain't No Way" is a song written by singer-songwriter Carolyn Franklin and sung by her elder sister Aretha Franklin as the B-side to her 1968 hit, "(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone". This song should not be confused with a different song of the same title, recorded by Aretha Franklin on her 2003 CD So Damn Happy: "Ain't No Way" by Barry J. Eastmond and Gordon Chambers.
Written by Carolyn Franklin, her sister Aretha recorded the song and released it on her acclaimed Lady Soul album. Released as the B-side of her top-five hit single, "(Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone", the song peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 9 on the Hot R&B Singles Chart in 1968. Carolyn and members of the Sweet Inspirations performed backing vocals on the track. The Sweet Inspirations' founder Cissy Houston showcased her operatic like upper range during Franklin's bridges and the ending of the track.
In 1983, Whitney Houston made her world debut on Merv Griffin Show singing the tune with mother Cissy Houston.[1] Whitney performed the track several times during her 1994 U.S. Bodyguard World Tour. In 1997, she performed it live on her 1997 HBO special, Classic Whitney Live from Washington, D.C., and the 1999 VH-1 Divas Live special as a duet with Mary J. Blige.
In 2005, Blige covered the track as a duet with Patti LaBelle off LaBelle's Classic Moments album, with their version peaking at number 18 on the R&B charts. LaBelle had performed the song as a tribute to Franklin at the Essence Awards in 1994.
Christina Aguilera performed the song to great acclaim in a tribute to Aretha during the 53rd Grammy Awards. Also, Amber Riley, who portrays Mercedes Jones in Glee, covered the song for the show. In 2011, Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart covered the song in their collaborative album, Don't Explain. In 2013, singer Sasha Allen performed the song in The Voice. In December 2017, singer Demi Lovato covered the song for Spotify Singles[2].
In 2017, British Hip-Hip group Corners sampled the song in their track of the same name on their debut album, “Corners”.
Lead vocal and piano by Aretha Franklin
Background vocals by the Sweet Inspirations and Carolyn Franklin
Additional background vocals by Cissy Houston
Produced by Jerry Wexler
Later that night, Aretha called Patti and said “you did okay” 🤣 Aretha was hilarious. Especially when it came to people singing her songs.
AND I GUESS THAT WAS BECAUSE PATTI SURPASSED ANY EXISTING VERSION
When she did it for the ceremony was better she ate that too the gods
Aretha let the "green monster" (jealous) get to her when Patti just blew the roof off the house with this song. I love them both but Patti's stole my
Aretha was a hater for no reason 😂😂. I hope she resolved all of that within.

Anita Baker was there also
Lena Horne was there as well but yeah Rosa Parks was honored I think.
@CampLala Yeah, I think it was because at that time people wouldnt be so receptive to a pregnant black teen. So they decided to use Rosa Parks in the hope that she would draw more attention to the cause, and people could be more empathetic instead of judgy. But this is well known at this point!
Where is Rosa Parks?
I love how well Patti preserved her voice, singing so violently like that 😂

Patti deserved her flowers for singing in its original key and getting thru that bridge at 49 years old when even Aretha could no longer do it in that key. Remember, Aretha was 25 when she recorded it.
Very impressive indeed. To be fair, she has a higher voice then Aretha
Pleas watch Aretha Franklin's performance at Kennedy Center 2016... She has former Pres Barack Obama in tears. BOTH ARE THE GREATEST OF TIMES. Singing at different vocal ranges: Patti Labelle C3, D6, F6 and The late Aretha Franklin G2-E6, well over 3 octaves.
Her range is larger than Aretha’s

Patti's been Snatching edges and handing out seats since 1958...Aretha had some edgeless night herself .
This was THEEE closest to the actual studio recording by Aretha done live and possibly the same key so that goes to show Miss Patti Patti did not come to play but to slay!!! By the look on Aretha's face.....said a lot!! DANG she sangin' not singing but sangin' this song my sister wrote for me better than me, how dare she but I'm proud and honored that another singers singer sang to me!!! Although I'm the Queen I really can't show her how much I LOVED this performance so I have to be very modest in my reaction!!! OK here she comes, contain yourself Ree Ree...... (while embracing Miss Patti and saying in my mind) you better sang but next time not better than me OK!!!! Great job, great job!!!
if you have ever been to a Patti concert....you know her vocals are POWERFUL...AND SINCE hearing how petty aretha is/was...SHE DEFINITELY HATED EVERY MINUTE OF PATTI'S SANGING
@@jerryfranklin6282 Aretha actually asked Patti to sing!! I think she genuinely loved it! Her facial expression spoke volumes! All pettiness aside, she really enjoyed it! Fun fact Aretha actually asked Patti twice and she sang it to her again at the Kennedy honors! She loved Levi Stubbs as well and he was there to perform for her too!
@@shaunspellman2856 Absolutely on point. And the deep breath Aretha took when she realized it was Ain't no way. From that reaction, I could guess she did not know. Definetly better than Aretha's version.

Which episode of Got2breal was it??? Please I need to know!!! 😂😂😂
There's a difference between between "singing" and "sänging". And this one is SÄNGING!
I’m sorry I mean no disrespect to Aretha but idk why she’s always considered above Patti vocally in list after list. This is hands down the most emotionally evocative performance I’ve ever seen. I’m literally shaken to my core. Even crazier is that she is wayyyy past her vocal prime here and still outdoes any other singer I’ve seen. Sure some have done this song more smoothly but Patti had the power and emotion in her voice. I can’t explain it. I NEED this performance to be on streaming so I can play it 24/7 and in the car. This is true mastery of a craft.
Because Aretha's Singing is more soulful and her pitch is perfect
Couldn't agree more Sir!!
Weirdly Patti’s vocal prime was in her 40’s (around the time of this performance ) she peaked later than most women would :)
5:10
Aretha WAS better sounding but fell off with age unfortunately, her voice just didnt sound as good after 40. Patti somehow hasn't missed a beat and sounds just as good now as she did back then, which is insane considering Aretha never went as crazy as Patti does every time she's on stage lol
She was in her bag that night 😂 Aretha was proud, though.

Harmonizing that last long note with the soprano backingvocal singer was honestly a genius move. Brilliant performance. Legend.
What note is that?
Aretha looked like she had something on her mind and you could see the years in her eyes for a while.
Beautiful sentiment
Yes that’s what i thought. She looked truly moved by it.
Aretha wants to cry, her song was being slayed !!!!
I’m sure memories of the reason she sang this song with such passion... that’s had to be a heavy story behind that music
Aretha's song is being SLAYED !!!! and she cant stand it !!!
At 3:30 see looked 👀 at her like 🗣”OK 👌🏾 bitch, I must admit .... that was clean “🧼 👏🏾
Despite the alleged fued Aretha must've liked Patti singing this song. she also sang it for Aretha at her Kennedy Center Honors as well.
There was no fued at all Patti really touched Aretha here. This was her sister Carolyn’s song who passed not too long before this. She loves when people sing her song right. Patti did awesome!!! 👏🏾
It's funny because Patti was always a rival of Aretha, but you can tell she respected her because of her voice. Sadly Aretha started losing her voice but Patti retained hers. Even now at 78/79 she can still out sing most people.
Patti was never a rival of Aretha. Aretha had a career and a catalog of music that Patti could only dream about. Despite her vocal range Patti never produced memorable music. Patti has sold more pies than records!

Patti eat this song up.she tore this song up. She killed this and she knew the lyrics lol.
i love the way that Danny Glover introduced her as:
"The Original Miss Thing"...
Patti just said in an interview about 2 months ago ( June of 2023 ) that when she came off the stage, Aretha walked up towards her and said ( into Patti's ear because people were clapping and there was a standing ovation still going on. That ( " You did good, I liked that !" ) and Patti replied, " But nobody can do it like you, girl! Ill see you after the show." ) Then as Patti turned back toward the stage, she saw Tina Turner and they embraced each other in an elegant, classy, friendly way. I've only ever heard Tina speak highly and respectfully of Patti LaBelle and Vice Versa Patti really respected and admired Tina for giving great shows and dancing in them pumps with them legs and not lip syncing a single word, she ( Patti ) said, now that's a real woman entertainer. Because we all know what Patti thinks of them so called Diva Stars who have strobe lights and pirotechnics and they're 30 feet from the edge of the stage because their microphone ain't even on and they can't even lip sync to their own songs. Yeah Patti might need teleprompters to help her remember her words but we know one thing is fo sho and that's, that Patti IS SINGING! Even when she messes up she'll tell us. I've got to give y'all what GOD gives me for y'all tonight. And here in August almost September 2023 she's 79 years young and still attracting new fans to come to see and hear her perform. She's a Class Act ( that don't play, so don't y'all dare get too close to her and step on one of her corns ! ) Lol She really tells people who she lets on stage to sing and dance with her, that ! ) 🫢😉😜 We Love You Patti !!!
Ms. Patti did not come to play. She got a standing ovation. Aretha was furious.
Patti KILT it, as usual. 8th Wonder of the World. In other news how does Aretha look so damn YOUNG here? She was in her 50s and looks early to mid 30s.

I don't know why I prefer this over the original, this usually doesn't happen to me 😭
Patti was dressing ahead of her time 😍
She let everyone know who is the real one, very graciously
One element Aretha lacked is "Grace"... She really projected as if she did not respect other vocal artists and singers, that truly respected and valued her... She was trapped in a mindset of competition up till the day she died.

Exactly the fake hug gave us all we needed to know she didn't even smile when Patti was singing. The fact Patti sang this song better than her. And Aretha didn't have her voice at this age. She didn't have her range so Patti is on another level 😂
