Why are the Tories so worried?

  • You'd think that a government with a big majority and high on the polls would have little to worry about, and yet the Tories are showing signs of being very worried. How long is it before failings on Brexit and Covid 19 catch up with them, corruption is rumbled and Scotland declares it has had enough, leaving them as the party that killed the country? Their behavior suggests that they think the answer is 'not long.'

Because the progressives insist on splitting their vote across three parties, thus winning 57% of the vote and losing by 80 seats. The idiots needed to form a coalition to act against Brexit but they just couldn't bring themselves to make the sacrifice of their collective egos for the benefit of the country. Even the hopeless Corbyn plan for Brexit was better than letting the idiot Faragisti take power and ruin the country.

Keir Starter seems to have lost the left of his party which I believed to be around a fith of the labour vote back in 2019. And if you follow Novara media the media wing of momentum which makes up for a large share of labour membership Keir Starmer is not popular. So while I would agree with the The Tories have made a number of mistakes and will have to tackle the economic impacts of Brexit personally I not convinced labour are actually in a position to take advantage.

I don't know if you guys lived thru the last tory government in the 1980's under thatcher and John major, and if you remember John major putting interest rates up to 15%or more, and leaving them up until businesses closed down and people lost their jobs, homes and in many cases lost everything they worked hard for. Have you forgotten the high unemployment throughout 1980's and it was intentional apparently in order to keep inflation down at 2%, but it was sustainable and was a vicious spiral diwnwards, higher and higher unemployment just to keep inflation down. To many people appear to have very short memories, and now this tory government since 2010 has been slowly destroying this country. They said you can't trust Labour with the economy, and you can trust us with the economy and we will pay off the national debt and cut immigration. Now over 10 yrs later, even before this corona virus pandemic arrived economy in a mess, immigration higher than ever before and the national debt higher than it was in 2010. I really don't understand why people can't see what the tories are really about and what they are doing to this country. This austerity policy since 2010 is actually tory ideology it's what they always do whatever is going on with the economy etc and it's not sustainable it doesn't just damage public services but also damages the economy

The SNP have little interest in independence, they've had multiple mandates for indyref 2 but are quite happy lording it over Scotland and collecting fat salaries while staging theatrical politics from/with WM. Even if they do have one it is unlikely to win given about a third of pro-independence voters also voted to leave the EU and the SNP have ruled out seeking any mandate before sending us back into the bosses club.

I think now we have over 130000 covid deaths and it's possible now johnson has just opened things up and kids and parents coming together, pubs, restaurants etc opening up. We may well have another spike. You can't possibly defend this governments handling of this crisis or their running of the country since 2010. January 2020 on the BBC an expert was saying this covid virus is not like the flu it's possibly 10 times as bad and very contagious. Our tory government decided to do nothing & came up with the crazy herd immunity idea. Taiwan Jan 2020 shut their borders and mobilised their resources, test, track, trace and isolate, whfn corona virus killing loads of people here and spreading, Taiwan no covid cases and months later still way, way better than us, New Zealand similar much better than the UK. Since 2010 our economy hasnt gone anywhere, homelessness increasing much more than before, poverty increasing, food banks which we didn't have under last Labour government, millions struggling to survive, zero hour contracts, gig economy. And our public services including NHS being destroyed due to tories austerity policy since 2010, funding cuts for all public services including NHS. A few yrs ago the United Nations condemned the UK for high levels of poverty amongst other things and they said it was caused by the tories austerity policy since 2010, and it wasn't necessary but was purely a political decision. They also said it started under the last tory government in the 1980's.. It's the tories ideology, and at the exact time as cutting funding for all public services they've been giving tax cuts to big corporate businesses and the wealthy and higher payed. None of this benefits the majority of people in the UK and it also damages the economy, it's not sustainable. I could go on but I think that's bad enough, and a very good reason to not vote tory

Ok, so how did the left's opposition to and castigation of Brexiteers work in the Hartlepool by-election? How many 'thick racists' did Keir bring into the Labour party? The twisting of the appeasement to EU demands on fishing and NI is of course classic Europhilia. If Boris wasn't a globalist we would have full control of UK territorial waters.
That other great left wing exercise in gaslighting, pretend the pandemic only exists in the UK and isn't occurring anywhere else in the world. Not many people fall for that now. Also the vaccine scepticism on the rise within the left, '3rd waves' is an anti science position.
Finally, the biggest gaslight of them all, apparently the left waving trans flags, putting pronouns in their social media bios and fighting for children to permanently change their bodies isn't extremist, divisive and done for a reaction but 'deeply held positions that cannot be challenged'. Wonderful. The left should really voice their support for race and sex quotas, because nothing says 'equality' quite like policies endorsing active discrimination.
I look forward to more 23 percentage point victories for the party in trouble!

@@alanmarr3323 Let's examine that. "Why are the Tories so worried?" is one thing Murphy asks. This presupposes that the Tories are worried. You are challenging me to prove that the Tories are not, in fact, worried. What possible evidence could I adduce which would show that a political party (or let's say, the Government) is not worried? Absolutely none. I'm afraid your assertion is vacuous and inane.
