I used to fish the streams like this. I really tried not to walk in the water to protect the spawning beds, leave an undisturbed pool for the next guy that may be behind me. Some areas you had such tight brush, you had no choice but to walk in the stream.
If you were looking for a Brown in that pool, they would have been in the overhang in the pool and not out in the middle like the Rainbows and Brookies. Remember a brown is looking for the right sized Rainbow and/or Brookie to eat! The diet is generally different for them, but I have caught some very big browns on some tiny, tiny flies!
I have gotten used to lake fishing and when the smallest fish I catch is 14” but the common size is 19 - 22”. In the end, my best was 28” and a jumping fool!! We fish with 7-8 weight rods and reels. I prefer stripping and trolling from a very slow moving boat, but have started to get into indicator fishing as well. The indicator fishing can produce better most days. We are in really windy country mind you so sometimes, if you challenge the waves, dead trolling a fly at somewhat slow speeds produces very well!! The action all comes from the boat and the rod tip bouncing around erratically. I use a 10 foot Jon Boat, Marlin brand. They are nice and sturdy as well as very stable for their size. 40 lb thrust electric trolling motor transom mounted and away I go. There was one time when I came in with the boat, I had about 8-9” of water INSIDE the boat!! Hahaha. They are positive floatation, so long as you don’t do something stupid like cut out the foam in the seats for more storage,,,,,,. I have seen that too often and it’s the reason I wound up buying a brand new boat vs used. So many had been altered. In the conditions I’m willing to fish, I want as much floatation as is possible!! Hahaha.
Some great memories triggered watching you.

As soon as I saw your video, I subscribed to your channel. It was the first time that on youtube I saw someone fishing with this technique of fishing with a fixed rod, without a reel and I wanted to ask you. Do you know that in Italy, where I live, a similar fishing technique exists or rather existed, which is no longer practiced by anyone? It is called the Valsesiana technique and was practiced with a rod similar to the one you use, but with 3 submerged or emerging flies to fish for grayling especially in the Sesia River and other rivers in northern Italy. I will continue to follow you and see the beautiful places that host your fishing trips. Good boy!
