I missed out yesterday... 😊
Kinda gay you keep saying "target species" like it's some secret? If you want to keep secrets get off you tube....typical white liberal
These vids are my latest CZcams addiction
My bucket list fish is the trout ....I think I've caught everything from Sunnie's to small mouth bass.Plus everything that is in the water,(fresh water) , except for trout..
Thanks for letting me tag along!🕊️
Idk if it’s just cause I’m deprived from fishing but there’s just something about that creek that makes it stunning
Awesome video my guy
What a dream Stream, a fisherman’s fantasy come true.
Sure was!
So true👍
Those clear water streams ouf the high desert/ Rocky mountain foothills are Tru treasures. I have fished the San Juan in New Mexico. The quality waters there hold browns that make grown men cry
Beauty of stream!
Man this video makes me super excited to get to Vernal UT for the 1st time ever tomorrow. Hope I can have just half the success you did in this vid!
Wow, what a jewel of a stream - and what a beautiful high desert valley! Thank you again for these outstanding tenkara adventures!
I'm glad you enjoy the vids! Thanks for watching, Michael.
What a fun day and beautiful stream! That big brookie was stunning ... both in size and color. Loved the look of the stream above the culvert! Awesome video dude! Heading out myself to fish a really small stream here in Colorado ... hopefully I can find some fish in the high water!
Yeah, it's tricky finding the right creeks to fish this time of year! Runoff sucks. Thanks for watching. Keep making the great vids yourself!
Thanks for showing nice fishing in a pretty way. Great narration
Rainbows and cutthroats are too busy spawning during runoff, or the water is too cold for hatches. Gotta love the small streams in Colorado.
Beautiful stream. It’s hard to leave the fishing! I know, been there done that!! Wonderful video. Thank you!!!
Reminds me of the Owens River in the Eastern Sierra.
I've heard good things about that river but never fished it. Thanks for watching!
@@TenkaraAddict One of the best wild brown trout rivers in the country. I have been going there every year since the 1970s
Yes fish Owens every year on way to mammoth👍🏻
Really enjoyed the music at the beginning of the video. It was a nice little addition!
Haha Thanks buddy!! Great creek and Glade you enjoyed it!! Let’s go again sometime! I think the creek northwest from there might have what your looking for. I got my eyes on a new place I’m going to try this summer. You probably have already fished it haha!
Nice! Let me know how it goes, for sure.
Beautiful landscape! So peaceful...
I have never had more than catching small lively trout on a fly. Sure a big one is nice but the steady fun of a lot of smaller fish is far more satisfying.
High Desert fishing! What a great stream!
Sure was! Thanks for watching.
Wow. What a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve fished this creek twice it’s a real hidden gem with some surprisingly large trout. My son caught a 14 inch brookie out of this one! We were definitely surprised and delighted with his amazing catch! I enjoy your videos a lot and love to see the awesome trout fishing in Idaho getting some air time 👍🏻!
what is it called
What a beautiful stream with beautiful fish! Thanks for the video!
Love the quiet,small areas,love it!!!
You catch more trout in 1 day then I catch all season!
Great video as always, thanks! IMO I think Brookies are pound for pound the best fighters.
A grasshopper would do really well here 😎
🙂Love the "White Arrow of Hookness". Fish on T. 👍
Lol thanks!
That rainbow jumped on the fly with both pectoral fins!
These views man!!!! What a fly fishing utopia.
looks like the creeks east of Hart mt Oregon. my dad and his buddies would fly fish these tiny desert creeks. so much fun
Also looks like parts in British Columbia the desert valley , And Alberta the dry lands where the prairies run into the Rockies
technical it is not a desert but steppe climate
Nice looks like you had a great time.
GOD Bless you and your families
Thanks Kenneth!
i dont know where your fishing , dont let those shallow narrow creeks fool you, i caught some mighty impressive fish out of those types of creeks
Love watching your videos 😊
I used to fish the streams like this. I really tried not to walk in the water to protect the spawning beds, leave an undisturbed pool for the next guy that may be behind me. Some areas you had such tight brush, you had no choice but to walk in the stream.
If you were looking for a Brown in that pool, they would have been in the overhang in the pool and not out in the middle like the Rainbows and Brookies. Remember a brown is looking for the right sized Rainbow and/or Brookie to eat! The diet is generally different for them, but I have caught some very big browns on some tiny, tiny flies!
I have gotten used to lake fishing and when the smallest fish I catch is 14” but the common size is 19 - 22”. In the end, my best was 28” and a jumping fool!! We fish with 7-8 weight rods and reels. I prefer stripping and trolling from a very slow moving boat, but have started to get into indicator fishing as well. The indicator fishing can produce better most days. We are in really windy country mind you so sometimes, if you challenge the waves, dead trolling a fly at somewhat slow speeds produces very well!! The action all comes from the boat and the rod tip bouncing around erratically. I use a 10 foot Jon Boat, Marlin brand. They are nice and sturdy as well as very stable for their size. 40 lb thrust electric trolling motor transom mounted and away I go. There was one time when I came in with the boat, I had about 8-9” of water INSIDE the boat!! Hahaha. They are positive floatation, so long as you don’t do something stupid like cut out the foam in the seats for more storage,,,,,,. I have seen that too often and it’s the reason I wound up buying a brand new boat vs used. So many had been altered. In the conditions I’m willing to fish, I want as much floatation as is possible!! Hahaha.
Some great memories triggered watching you.
haha thats awesome, ive always wanted to get into lake fly fishing for trout. what state you fish out of?
@@imandy121 - A province, as I am in Canada, but I do fish out of Montana as well when I want to go for a long drive.
That is a fun creek!
I was catching fish like this in the upper mill creek in California by Blackrock in the Ishi wilderness.Caught some beautiful wild rainbows there.
I dig these off the beaten path locations. Very cool. You might also dig The Lateral Line guys page too. They are in New Zealand catching King Fish!
any time those little creeks go through a metal culvert it washes out a big deep hole that is always full of fish.
I'm from Maine fishing is great and so is hunting
A reel would just get in the way? Although I gotta say, you are damn good at flipping those fish into your net.
Great video, beautiful fishing spot. I have a question I'm somewhat new to tenkara and I've been using furrled line since my first rod(dragontail shadowfire) came with it I recently bought a nissan pro two way and was considering putting level line on it, I was wondering what are the benefits to using level line and is there more of a learning curve with casting it?
Try um both, see which one you like better, use that one. Keep it simple Doug, fish are pretty dumb.
As soon as I saw your video, I subscribed to your channel. It was the first time that on youtube I saw someone fishing with this technique of fishing with a fixed rod, without a reel and I wanted to ask you. Do you know that in Italy, where I live, a similar fishing technique exists or rather existed, which is no longer practiced by anyone? It is called the Valsesiana technique and was practiced with a rod similar to the one you use, but with 3 submerged or emerging flies to fish for grayling especially in the Sesia River and other rivers in northern Italy. I will continue to follow you and see the beautiful places that host your fishing trips. Good boy!
Looks almost exactly like one of my favorite creeks to fish with my micro ultralight gear. Though I typically stalk the fish from the banks and stay low to avoid spooking them. 🎣
What was the target species? A variety of cutthroat?
You will find that in a fair sized stream the larger trout are closer to the head of the hold.
Huge flyfisherman here. Never tried tenkara. Think I might just give it a try. Living in Arizona now and can see a big advantage to this method on the skittish water I now fish.
About any time you have a culvert and sufficient water you'll have fish
Too cool!
Great vids, grew up in North Jersey fishing for natines in the early 70s, interested in that rod, would appreciate a link n description for purchase, thks Nick
lovely little spot there.
It's the Honey Hole Hideout, me want Honey Hole!
Is this stream in southwestern Wyoming?
I wish that finding brook trout was that easy here in the South.
Their native range is the Great Lakes region and Appalachia, but it looks like they’ve been introduced in parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, and Georgia. Could always take a trip up to the driftless region or Michigan’s UP for some huge coaster brooks.
I live in western north Carolina and catch more brooks than bows or browns
That's crazy. There must have been a swarm right there.
I'd find it interesting to know more about the locations you fish. Time of day and weather conditions. Also, do you remove barbs from your fish hooks? Thanks
no barbs
The target species could be anything, Brown, Cutthroat, Golden perhaps even a Yamame or Biwa Trout !
Could be Nevada...maybe Tiger trout?
@@chriscurren6384
I forgot about the Tiger Trout, beautiful how they change color in the fall!
im not sure if this has been asked before or if its taboo but.. is there a hybrid tenkara rod w eyes and line tied at bottom?
i dont need a reel, just stuck to old ways pulling the string and pinching it.
I don't believe so, no
what pattern are you using may i ask?
I don’t get what tenkara offers that fly fishing doesn’t
I don't care if you get it lol
@@TenkaraAddict let me rephrase: I don’t get what tenkara offers that fly fishing doesn’t, could someone pls explain it so that I could see if it might be for me
@@oliverg3184 more compact, easy to carry, less expensive easier to get into
@@TenkaraAddict that was a dick move
@@cretudavid8622less stuff, simpler form of fly fishing
Lake Chester California now theres 4 7 pound trout i was catching on gold cast master realing slow jiging 7 a day
tributary of Green River??
8 inches? lol that’s why there’s so many 20 inch fish
I need that net! Do you have a link?
Do you sell any of the flys you use in you videos?
👍👍👍
Can you share what app you use to ensure you are on public land? Many streams in the west are essentially surrounded by private land until you get to NFS.
This area is all BLM land. I use Caltopo and Gaia GPS.
You dont eat them?
Nope
There is not much meat on those small stream fish anyway.
@@williama.walker2287 Thats true, you would need at least 5-6 just for me...
Do you ever do a catch and cook as part of your RV channel?
Nope
@@TenkaraAddict What's the point of catching these fish if you're not going to take a few home for dinner?
Look up catch and release
@@TenkaraAddict Gotcha, torture small fish for your enjoyment and CZcams income. Do the fish get a cut?
@@JackFalcon871 The people who "Practice" catch and release at all virtuous when they are really just hurting fish for fun. I have far more respect for people who catch just what they eat.
Hot fly. Honey hole indeed.
Great little spot!
You'll find big trout in the undercuts of the banks in those narrow creeks. Hard to cast to them though.
Do you wet your hands as you taken your catched fish out? In Europe it is common to do so to prevent/ protect the fish.
Yes, of course
Where is that located at?? Looks super pretty and would definitely wanna take the kids camping there.
I don't talk about creek names or locations. Sorry!
@@TenkaraAddict
That sucks
what makes for a too long line?
You have to tell us where these areas are??
Nope
Just curious. I've watched a few of your videos.. do you always fish facing upstream?
Yes
Pregunta todos los peces en tenkara son pequeños???
Tenkara is made for small mountain creeks, and small creeks tend to have small fish. That said, people do fish larger rivers with tenkara rods and catch huge fish, but that kind of fishing doesn't interest me.
golden trout?????????????????????
Great video 9.7 out of 10.
Where are you??
Pretty parr marks! 👍😄
Agreed! Some nice little fish in there. Thanks for watching.
what kind of tenkara fly line you use?
#3.5 level line
Maybe I missed it by why did you not mention the species of trout you were aiming for. but great fishing anyways.
It keeps things interesting. You'll find out what it was in the next video. Thanks for watching.
Red Band your target?
Euro Nymphing (tight line) and Tenkara (dapping) is not fly fishing
If you are after goldens, let me know, I can put you on ideal Tenkara streams with lots of California Goldens. (you would need to come to California) just got back from there a couple days ago. its going to be a really bad low water year unfortunately.
Nevada
Do you keep any of them
Nope
Perhaps sharpening your hook between catches might help you connect a lot more.
Not using a reel may I ask Why not
Look up tenkara
What state is this?
Cryptozoology with a fly. Bull trout?
Lake Chelan 24 pound trout
wtf was the target species?
Bull trout
Your videos alway get me excited to hit the water again! I see you like to fish allot of places I also like to fish. In the future if you’re able and willing I think it would be cool to connect and fish a stream together. Is there a way I can get ahold of you via Email ?
