I feel like the first episode isn't as good as the pilot in terms of the direction it goes as supposedly introducing the characters for the first time, since it's technically supposed to be the first episode that would air, while the pilot is just made to show what the show will be about and what is produced. Also, it's not like the pilot isn't cannon, there are events teased that make reappearances in later episodes. So yeah, I think you should also watch the pilot.

So im gonna say this about their appearance about when they die. Whenever they die they are based off how they died or what they were like when they were alive. It all depends but the characters like Blitzo,Moxxie,Millie (also known as M&M),Loona and Stolas are all Hellborns there is more but im using those as examples. Theres many types of demons theres Sinners (Like the one who died the purple one),Hellhounds,The seven deadly sins,Imps,Overlords,Ars Goetia (Stolas is a goetia),Demons,Others (for example Lucifer but we see him in hazbin hotel ep 5) Obvi the Succubi and Incubus (Incubus are the male Succubis but you probs already know that) idk if theres more but im listing them cause it would go on forever so in future episodes if you might react to em you may come across Hybrids and idk if theres any others so this was a bit of help
