It's true that if you watch enough people freaking out in the grocery store, grabbing as much stuff as they can, you will get that same mentality and go into panic mode yourself. You went into the store for a couple of things and end up buying a basket full of water, bread, milk and toilet paper.
I was farther inland, but I LOVED Irma! I stayed at a relative's house, and we sat in lawn chairs outside to see who could take the winds for the longest. Then after the hurricane half the people who were going on our cruise didn't come, so the ship was basically empty!
My mom and I went to Walmart before the hurricane and the cashier asked if we were prepared and we acted like we didn't know a hurricane was coming. She was almost freaking out telling us to go get supplies and be safe.
I don't live near the coast but this video reminded me how crazy it was when I first experienced people panic buying when covid first hit. I had heard some rumor about people buying all the toilet paper so I figured I better get to the store because I was literally on my last roll. And I get to the grocery store and sure enough they were sold out. I just remember you could feel this tense energy in the air. People were trying to play it cool but you could feel the panic setting in. It felt so unreal. It was scary fr.
Dude when I was a green helper working construction I had a group of guys ask me to grab them a pipe stretching machine and I spent 45 mins looking for something that didn't exist. Still cracks me up I was dumb enough not to realize for that long.
LOL imagine walking around the store with your cart and whoever even makes eye contact with you, you tell them very sternly “do not take my stuff” while having the most simple necessities in your cart like water , 100 pairs of sunglasses, 50 packs of men’s underwear and 30 packs of adult diapers.
