I LOVE HOT WATER MUSIC!!! I am from Gainesville Florida and used to work at El Toro Mexican restaurant and at Sears and have met the guys at both places while working there. It was an AMAZING time period in my life in the 90s living in Gainesville. The music scene was absolutely beautiful and exploding at the time. My friend that I worked with got me to go see HWM for the first time and I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. SO MUCH ENERGY!!! The audience where singing those songs louder than the band was. That night truly changed my life. Amazing music, amazing people, amazing town. I hunger for those days again everyday.
My friend who is a journalist had Chuck's number. She gave it to me while I was drunk as fuck so I called him. He was super nice talked to me for 20 minutes. I made an ass outta myself.
yes.. this is originally alkaline trio.. but for all of you who are saying its not HWM.. HWM did a cover of alkaline trio's original.. the poster of this vid prolly only had heard the HWM version.. so no need to give grief over a lil bit of "miss"information
Gotta say it... thank you for uploading all of this Chuck Ragan´s videos. Such a great ones, both because of his playing and singing and your recording. So much emotion on it. About the cover thing... it´s definitely a cover. Alkaline trio makes a song. HWM covers it. Chuck covers it. At the end of the day, both HWM and Ragan´s are covering an Alkaline trio song.
Alkaline Trio originally wrote it but, the Alkaline Trio and Hot Water Music split album might throw some people off since they both covered a couple of each others songs. Great album by the way.
Im a huge trio fan, and really hot water too. I have always really liked their cover of bleeder. This sounds great, although his guitar sounds kind of terrible.
@z750driver yea touche. i was mentally hearing the split between the two of them i think. but congrats to the rest of you "wiki/google" fountains of knowledge.
It is an ALk3 cover. It's funny...I'd DEFINITELY be willing to say that ALK3 made 'Rooftops' a better songs, and almost willing to say Chuck made this song better haha
I have no idea how people can thumb down this! Chuck puts more emotion into one song then most people put into their whole lives
This is one of my favs for sure I love this record
I truly believe that Chuck eats gravel and pine cones for breakfast. Such an amazing gruff voice.
Holy shit, you nailed it!
chuck does an awesome job on this song. i dont care what anyone says. im a harcore trio fan but this is good
One of the greatest covers. Tugs at the heart strings if you been in those situations
this almost makes me cry.
I love the people singing along, such a good song.

This guy's voice.... thanks Chuck.
I can’t cope with how beautiful this is ❤️ my most fave song of all time.
What the hell is all this distinguishing between HWM & Chuck Ragan's cover of the song? They're IDENTICAL
@z750driver
Technically, this is a Chuck Ragan cover of a Hot Water Music cover of an Alkaline Trio song.
Insane this was in KW. Soo friggin cool!
That....was....amazing
Chuck would make a good Batman.
This is absolutely outstanding!
beautiful. as always, beautiful.

The split is one of my favorites
Bleeder: HWM > AK3 ... Rooftops: AK3 > HWM ... Best split album ever
They used to allow shows there but they don't anymore.
💯❤️💯💯❤️💯❤️❤️💯❤️💯💯❤️💯See y in Berlin
Samiam
And chuck ragan was in Hot Water Music
I agree. It is a great song. It's a cover though. The song is by Alkaline Trio, not Chuck Ragan. But Chuck is awesome!
holy fuck sauce! i had shivers throughout this amazing cover..
I think this is Chris Wollard. I love the original by Hot Water Music!
@heavymetalstud It is most definitely Chuck, and the original is by Alk3. HWM covered it on the Jade Tree split with Alk3.
fucking amazing
This is an Alkaline Trio cover
Kevin Cornell
Yes, it is

This version is so much better ☺️
@z750driver yes it is
that place looks sweet! is it an actual venue or people just occasionally do acoustic stuff there?
This is an Alkaline Trio song, but I believe Hot Water Music covered it at some point.
@katrina0o he IS amazing live :)

I'd be the one bawling like a 13 year old fangirl right in front without a care in the world. Ohwait I'm a 20 year old dude.

That girl was trying so hard to sing along in the beginning.

@heavymetalstud If you're aware, then why did you say the complete opposite in your above comment?...
@z750driver yea touche. i was mentally hearing the split between the two of them i think. but congrats to the rest of you "wiki/google" fountains of knowledge.

@alriooreo Nah, Chuck makes me believe that this song was written by men.
It is an ALk3 cover.
It's funny...I'd DEFINITELY be willing to say that ALK3 made 'Rooftops' a better songs, and almost willing to say Chuck made this song better haha
