- I play a Magic the Gathering Online Legacy league with Jeskai Back To Basics Stoneblade, a deck from Patreon subscriber First_Revenge. This deck is trying to make War of the Spark-era Legacy a thing again. Teferi, Narset, and Jace The Mind Sculptor in a nearly-all-basic mana base featuring main deck Back To Basics as a dedicated plan. Lost vs Beanstalk for some unlucky draws.
The Unlicensed was very strong. I could cut down the graveyard entirely

18:20 sideboard notes.. supreme verdict would've been good in this game. Meltdown hits more of their stuff and more efficient, but can't be red blasted after a painter and hits the high cmc creatures (defiler, fury). Situational but there's definitely an argument there. Also I think finding room for the surgicals would've been worthwhile with them pulling things in and out of their GY. Probably cutting stifle and a spell pierce

At 9:08 opponent actually had lethal if you didn't have any interaction. You'd have to chump the dragon engine to not die to the pump and it has double strike. After first strike you'd have stoneforge in the graveyard that they could use to get a counter on goblin egineer and win the game.

@@jaredschroeder7555He said at the time "Responses to the new intro are net positive, but there are still some requests from folks who miss it. It’s not coming back, sorry. It what it is. I listen to fast and heavy music on my time, but something softer is more appropriate as the channel grows to bigger audiences," back when the change was made. I don't really care either way as both intros are quite good. Listening to it today just made me wonder if it had any noticeable difference in his metrics or it was just a QOL update.
@@BoshNRoll Honestly I hadn't thought about it in a long time and seeing you next to Hazoret just popped the memory into my head. Just made me curious if it had any sort of impact on the metrics or was just a nice QOL update.

Wonder why people don’t play 5 mana Teferi more. Like 3 mana Teferi turns off counterspells, Narset turns off extra card draw but doesn’t do much for card selection or “look at top X cards and put one of them in your hand” abilities even though that’s basically drawing the best card, Jace can brainstorm or fate seal an opponent who already can’t use counterspells or draw through those cards (ponder can reorder them still and get around fate seal) and then if they are already locked out of all of that other stuff 5 mana Teferi only puts you down 3 mana the turn it comes into play and draws extra cards and the emblem starts exiling all of their permanents when they can’t draw their way out of it or counter anything you are doing and then later 5 mana teferi also allows you to have 2 extra mana per turn. Once 5 mana teferi has the emblem the opponent is quickly in a position where they can’t win unless you deck yourself and you will deck yourself before they deck themselves unless you ultimate Jace and they’re just dead. No useful cards in their hand or they would have played it. Now their hand is their deck. They don’t lose until they can’t draw a card but also can’t win anymore. They can’t even tie anymore. Now you just keep passing the turn without doing anything and you’ve already won.
You won’t always have all 4 in play and all of them die to red blast effects but if they have to use red blast on Narset and Jace and 3 mana Teferi they have fewer answers for 5 mana Teferi. Any 2 or 3 planeswalkers at the same time and you’re in a pretty good position. All 4 planeswalkers and you win inevitably if they stick. Discard their red blasts let them keep a land or a counter spell with fate seal. Blow up their lands with wasteland, keep them tapped with back to basics, take out their basics with 5 mana Teferi since it’s not worth slots to play ghost quarter and actual factual strip mine is banned.
It would be amazing to see you play that madness deck someday XD

An equal split of planeswalkers and creatures. This is my kinda deck.
It wouldn't be *good*, but the idea of "ponder storm" makes me suddenly wish they'd printed something like accumulated knowledge that cost {U} and looked at X cards rather than drawing them.
Mystic Speculation is kinda close just unfortunately not an instant

About a week ago an opponent fatal pushed bosh's true name. Today he says the Etb can't be stifled. I don't get this card at all.
B2B is not the way. I think the deck needs to be heavy into Forth Eorlingas with Fire//Ice back up.

Is bringing in red blast vs a painter deck that is going to paint it blue a good idea for more interaction with stack/board or is it too cute of an idea?
Good painter players know that's a line and just name a different color post board. It's a trap.

There are situations where its better and where it's worse. Doesn't pitch to force, doesn't remove creatures from play, Jace doesn't damage you if the game drags, etc. It might be better overall but it certainly isn't an obvious 1 to 1 upgrade replacement.
Why not play triumph in a deck like this?
Because we already have a more versatile threat at 1W that the deck is constructed around leveraging. If we start adding more creatures we start cutting spells, then the deck loses focus of what it’s good at doing.
