Some may not like hire boats and will stay away from them, which is a fare point, BUT not when they are in trouble like that. It's the hire companies that should be held in disregard for not training, assisting and monitoring their craft. Steve, you did an amazing thing that not many other boaters would take on board. A true knight of the river. Highly commendable of you, I'm sure you would have done the same thing no matter who it was. My admiration to you.
How nice of you to tow them to a mooring. Enjoyed watching this as it's an area I know well. Hope they showed their appreciation to you in some sort of way? Personally speaking, I would've left them in the reeds. When my own 23ft yacht got engine trouble and I had to turn it off and let the tide take me down the new cut towards St Olaves, a couple of boats came past and wouldn't help me. I hate the hire boats and stay away from the Norfolk Broads during the busy periods. Hopefully, next week it'll be a little more quieter on the rivers.
Thank you for your lovely comment. I'm glad there are more of us out there that will help. You going to the Broads next week by the sounds of it. If you see me about next week give me a shout as I'm there for the week.
Sure will. North Cove is one of my favorite mooring spots but as you've shown here, there's only room for about 3 boats unless you want to double moor up. Had my yacht's mast and rigging off so can go under all bridges now - Somerleyton can be a real pain in the neck when there's a heatwave and the bridge can't open! Hoping to venture on past Reedham next time. Any good quiet moorings you can recommend for SY Gipsy Dancer ? @@simplyboating4609
Maybe it is, sorry for the mistake if it is but the point is they are not looking after the boats. No hire boat should be out on the water without it's cut out switches working. I get it can just happen to one of them but two of them not working' seems like they are just not checking them. If my cut out is not working on my boat it will foul its boat safety that's the point I'm making.
@@simplyboating4609 No need to apologise, we've been hiring since 2019 and a fair few of the boats have had issues. We were left drifting on the Ant when the boat suddenly stopped working, so I agree with your point regarding maintenance
That's nice of you.

Thank you for your lovely words. As a fellow boater, you also know we should never leave a boat in trouble, not when we can help.

That boat isn't from Richardson's, it's Herbert Woods I believe.
