Been waiting for this new album for a long time and it's really interesting to see what Joji delivered! The theme of trying and failing to move on is a natural progression from the more angsty, jealous themes on previous releases, and it's so perfectly captured in songs like this one and "Glimpse of Us." Couldn't get this melody out of my head and it turned out to be really well suited to the cello (and in my favourite key signature too)!

What did you think about the Smithereens album? It's shorter than I expected with less complete songs, but I really like the themes and how it builds on previous releases.
I remember listening to the "Nectar" album, and not skipping any songs. Smithereens is not as good as Nectar, but still good.
Some songs feel like bonus tracks to nectar as they have a nectar vibe to them, mostly the side B tracks
Even though it is shorter it is absolutely impossible to not listen too. Please keep up the great work!! You have pulled me out of some hard times in life.

Nectar is still his best but Smithereens had a very established "Joji" sound to it. He didn't go much out of his comfort zone but it's okay because he's at the sweet spot in his music career.
