The Kane Chronicles did a great job simplifying the differences, using reincarnation to explain how Horus was both a child of Nut & Isis. I’ve had thoughts of making a screenplay about Horus’ accession- animated and told in a Game of thrones style.

I've had the exact same idea, although my thought was to make a book instead of a screenplay. Mythology in general has a lot of great potential for Game of Thrones esque stories, but unfortunately for Egyptian mythology, the closest we have is that God awful God's of Egypt movie.

Good episode. I've always liked stories about different gods from different cultures and the way you talk about them can't be beat. You've made several videos about mythologies from many cultures, but there are some I find interesting that I've never seen you mention. Recently, I've been watching different Chinese movies and I'm finding a lot of the mythologies from Chinese culture fascinating. The one I like the most currently is the story of Sun Wukong aka The Monkey King. If you could make a video about him, that would be awesome. If not, it's fine. I'm sure you are busy with other projects. I just thought I would suggest a story that I thought your viewers might find interesting. Thanks for reading.

Great retelling. I’ve always wondered why Set is associated with chaos and disorder rather than just unbridled aggression. I think of chaos as being unpredictable and it was Horus who seems more unpredictable without the guidance of his mother Isis. If anything, Horus comes off as more of a trickster who overcomes a more powerful rival, not unlike other deities in Africa. It makes me wonder if the ancient Egyptians themselves saw Set as chaotic or if that is an outside interpretation.

She did this by creating a cobra from his own blood (don’t know how she got it) and had it bite him. The only way he could be cured was by Isis, and she wouldn’t help unless he named Horus as king.

Did you know, Thoth is a Greek rendering? One way it's pronounced is thought. In Greek, it was pronounced that way, too, although many ways are correct. Also, fun fact, if you look up the etymology of the modern English word thought... it comes from Thoth. They sound the same in old Greek and modern English, though. Which is cool. Incidentally, if you want to refer to this god by his Egyptian name it is Djehuty.
Pronounced djih-how-tee. Another fun fact you can sound out Thoth like thee-ow-tee and it is a similar sound. So Djehuty and Thoth sound the same. Language is fun.

It’s interesting to see the complex stories of the gods, when they had no tv.
    No binging. No movie collections.
It’s hard to imagine their relationship with stories.

Hey Jon, have you heard of this channel called Bumblebee Elite? They have discussed Ancient Egyptian history over there as well, but a lot of their content seems repeated. At least, to me it does.

Sounds like the 12 labors; tests to see if Horus is "worthy" of the throne.
