  • Living van life presents a number of challenges when dealing with the elements, but having a well equipped van make those elements surprisingly easy to tackle. Rainy day? It might be a bit boring, but our roof vent has a rain cover. Winter chill? That's what our Webasto gasoline heater is for! But dealing with hot days in the van is something that without an AC unit presents a whole new set of difficulties without obvious solutions. So that's why we came up with a bunch of tips - some obvious and some not so obvious - to help you deal with the summer temperatures as prime summer camping season comes around in the northern hemisphere.

After flying back home, we were not ready to give up our new lifestyle yet, so we bought a minivan, converted it into a DIY minivan camper, and drove across Canada in search of beautiful campsites and stunning mountains to climb. We are currently on a different sort of adventure, converting a Ford Transit cargo van into our new full-time home on wheels in hopes of exploring North America and conquering more mountains - and hopefully even the Arctic Ocean!

Y'all are the only van people I've heard mention ceramic tint and it baffles me that it's not more commonly discussed. It's a MUST for me here in Texas.

I just found a " Cooling Throw " blanket that pulls heat off the body, it feels like it came out of the refrigerator, all for under $20.

Your next van you can install a webasto electric rag top, For AC carry an Arctic Air Portable Air Conditioner (52 qt. - dual fan - 12 volt) they make smaller units also. It uses a ice cooler and a radiator so you get cold air without the humidity as a traditional swamp cooler, that will keep you cool

Try intermittent fasting during the hot summer months. My experience shows that fasting keeps my body cold which makes extreme heat a lot more bearable.

I don't usually watch larger than build vid., but it was intrigued to hear how you stayed cool in a van. I did pick up on 3 or 4 tips. And you're so right about if they think they're going to sit like make it home and stay indoors all the time. They won't in 98-105 heat. Of course humidity accounts for a lot of discomfort. One almost has to have AC.

The temperatures in Vancouver have even made to to a major news story placement over in the UK. I hope things haven't got as crazy as Vancouver has been, being in the mountains, but still, pleased to know you're keeping safe!

Zero breeze. Expensive but I think more vans still have and lower that cost. 1000 with out barriers. 200 watt at max buti don't think you need that 24/7
