- Yes, it’s the top 10 best RPGs on PS5. RPGs are what got many of PlayStation Access into games in the first place, so what better genre to celebrate?
Nothing beats a good RPG - losing yourself in an immersive story, drinking in the lush music and visuals or just geeking out over states. Whether it’s the lush world of Final Fantasy XVI or the reactive storytelling of Baldur’s Gate 3, these are universes we never want to leave. Don’t worry, this list of PS5 RPGs also has space for more retro RPGs - the delightful throwbacks of Sea of Stars and Octopath Traveler earn a place, too.
Picking our best RPG games on PS5 was not easy, but we’ve tried to cover as many subgenres as possible, from action RPGs to JRPGs to indie storytelling experiments to MMORPGs. Whatever your PS5 RPG taste we’ve got you covered.
What are your best RPGs PS5 or otherwise? Let us know in the comments if you agree with our top 10 RPG list. And for your convenience we've time coded the best RPGs on PS5 here:

This year has been great for RPGs, Cyberpunk 2.0, Sea of Stars, Final Fantasy XVI, Baulder's Gate
And we still have so many to come. Spider man 2, ACM, super Mario rpg
Just a darn good year overall. Wow, the GOTY competition!
@@CheesefistSpiderman is surely not considered rpg..It's action adventure
@@michaelwill5972 do you earn levels? Can you change your costume? Can you choose a level path to go down? As if you are ROLE PLAYING spiderman? I rest my case.
Ff 16 isn't an RPG
Finally, the list we've always wanted, the best Rob Pearson Games!
I had alot of fun with Elden Ring. I really enjoyed my journey through the lands between and meeting all the characters that inhabit the world.
Sea of Stars was such a huge surprise for me. Absolutely loved it. I'm currently playing Octopath Traveler 2 and there's a lot to it but I'm loving the stories and the grind so far. I'm about 20% done with P5R and was really enjoying it (before taking a little break for Sea of Stars). Just great games here and coming soon for RPG fans!
Octopath Traveler 2 (10/10 point blank)
Disco Elysium (one of the best rpgs ever made)
FFXVI (speaks for itself)
Citizen Sleeper (really surprised this game was included, it is a amazing game)
and the bonus game didn't surprise me but surprised it made the list but every game on the list deserves to be there. Great list great video
@@clockworkNate I haven't played Octopath Traveler 1 it was on xbox but yeah in OT2 they do interact with each other stories.. they talk to each other during exploration and the call outs they do to each other during battle are nice. If they're any flaws with Octopath Traveler 2 I didn't find them.
ff16 isnt an rpg
What is the name of the very first game show, at 0.04?
Seeing the PS5 glow up of Skyrim makes me want to dive back in again.
I've got to add YS 8 Lacrimosa of Dana in there too. While it doesn't have AAA graphics the gameplay, music, characters and story are top notch.
RPGs are a fantastic genre
Sea of Stars was absolutely phenomenal. Loved all the little touches and homages to the giants on whose shoulders it stood. Mountains’re nice, IYKYK
FF XIV has almost become like a second home to me. If I'm not logging on to run the story, then I'm getting on to run my flower shop, craft a few alchemy recipes, part-take in a seasonal event, or just sightseeing because sometimes it's nice to come home from a long day and just relax on my private island or starting the journey all over again on an alt
So many other RPGS i could recommend to people, some of my favourites are- atelier ryza, trails of cold steel, tales of arise, neo:the world ends with you, final fantasy 7 remake, nino kuni both 1 and 2, kingdom hearts 3,the list is endless, great video though i loved the choices
Binged the Ryza trilogy this year. Solid rec. I'll toss in Ender Lillies
Got the plat for Sea of Stars yesterday. Miles better than Octopath 2
Wow!
I am glad RPG's are still going strong!
I have to check out Sea of stars because it's name reminds me of one of my favorite RPG's,Star Ocean!😊
Love BG 3 so many things to see/miss on a 1st playthru and see a later playthru. To be able skip some battles thru dialog. I enjoyed Octopath Traveler and FF XVI as well =)
Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3 are in another level compared to any other games. Masterpieces, 100/100.
Yes they are.
Baldurs Gate 3, Persona 5 Royal, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Elden Ring, Yakuza 7, Lost Judgement, Tales of Arise, Sea of Stars & The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie are Masterpieces!
Plus Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Pillars of Eternity: Dreadknought, Final Fantasy 14, Monster Hunter World and Elder Scrolls Online!
@@bigzachfulMH: World is more of an ARPG, otherwise I'd agree completely
Love Persona 5 Royal. P5 Vanilla will always have a special place in my heart but P5R introduces little quality-of-life changes here and there that just makes the experience even better. Also, the menu is one of the coolest things I've seen in a game. As Rob once said, "I wish I was best friends with Persona 5's menu because just being seen with them will increase your street cred from -5 to 15."
What is the difference between original Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal?
@@paulbrown6464it’s pretty much the exact same as vanilla except there is another character introduced into the game and an alternative ending route!
It's an amazing time for RPG fans. I love FFXIV and I'm going to get the Platinum for FFXVI. I haven't had as much time in the past few weeks to game, but any spare moment I have, I go back into 16 and Valisthea. Clive is such a great character. Experiencing the world through his eyes is so good and feels so natural. The characterizations, the world and lore are top notch. Also, Torgal is the goodest of all Good Bois and I will fight anyone that disagrees with me. I have ifrit on my side in that debate. LoL
FFXIV, the only MMORPG I play, feels like coming home. I adore exploring Eorzea on my chocabo and hanging around Limsa and watching Bard and Dancer groups performing just because. The people are so kind and helpful and they always seem to be looking out for Sprouts and giving nice little things like extra Minions to them or offering to help run then through a dungeon if the haven't gotten a match in the Party Finder yet. It's a real community and I love that so much.
Yakuza Like A Dragon is up there with my favorite RPGs of all time. I love Ichiban so much, and the devs did such an amazing job. I can't wait for the next game! I'm so excited just thinking about it!
I'm so happy I crossed this channel. Thank you for putting a smile on my face with your video's. /bow
Beyond happy to see Sea of Stars on the list. Had 0 expectations for it but tried it on Plus and it became one of if not my favorite RPGs of all time
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is a great one for anyone that likes CRPG's.
What a list of games! What a time to be a gamer!
Rob talking about his time in FFXIV got me wondering about my playtime so I checked... it's 13,746 hours on my main character.
Thats hard for me to understand, since there are so many other games to play nowadays. I never have enough time to play them all in my life. Why Play 1 Game?
So good you features Sea of Stars here!!!!❤❤❤❤
Esse é o tipo de video que eu tava procurando, comprei meu PS5 mes passado, Obrigado! 🇧🇷
I need Final Fantasy VIII remake. Get a journey inside balamb garden with Squall Leonheart & Rinoa Heartilly!! 😃✌🏻
I'm sure one day this will happen maybe 10 years from now but definetly after ff7 this will be looked at.
That would be awesome!😊
@@nathanreddy3199 Wow that's so Long time but i think it's Okay!! 😲👌🏻
@@Herowebcomics Absolutely Great!! 😃👍🏻
OMG it's Ash! I missed her voice!!! Good hearing you once again
Nice list as always but I really think that you should have included Trails of Reverie here
Still haven’t beat it
@@DragoSaul take your time that is a game worth of doing a little bit each time 👍
still need to get it but don't want to beat it so I haven't yet lol
@@piercebattle9454 by some miracle trails through daybreak is next summer and not taking forever to be localized
Falcom are my new fav JRPG devs but I can't pretend that they are a type of niche that wouldn't make a list like this. Not to mention like kingdom hearts you have to play like 10 games to be up to date. Planning on playing Cold steel 3 next, so I'm not quite caught up.
Persona 5 was such a BANGER. Just thinking about it is enough to give me chills.
currently playing Skyrim for the first time since the PS3 and I still have Phantom Liberty, Like a Dragon and Baldur's Gate to try out
Octopath Traveler II's graphical style is like a breakdancing grandma. How do you come up with these descriptions, Rob? Brilliant.
Yay! I would have been sad if LAD wasn't on the list! I'll probably be playing BG3 until Infinite Wealth launches.
Disco Elysium is one of the most unique games I have ever played. The verbalization of your various mental aspects all battling it out in your alcohol picked brain is fasinating Loved it until I got stuck on a problem I could not get past and couldn't advance the story.
Tales of Arise and Chrono Cross also spring to mind. I was also going to say Yakuza Like a Dragon, but Rosie beat me to it. Bring on Infinite Wealth!
I'm really happy Disco Elysium got a mention.
Surprised to see Citizen Sleeper on here, but love you included a slightly deeper cut. Access know their RPG onions.
I literally started final fantasy 16 a few days ago and have to say I am loving the story so far!
it isnt an rpg tho. the original final fantasy games are dead
@@solutionxero Well, nobody cares
Sea of Stars is one of my favourite games i've ever played. It' reminds of playing Zelda on my gameboy and my first time playing Final Fantasy 7. It's massively underrated and great fun. i'm planning on platinuming it if i can get the hand of the moonerang attack trophy.
You want to know what underrated is? Search "Tyranny".
I feel like The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is way overlooked, a ridiculously good JRPG part of the trails series.
Currently playing sea of stars and its amazing
FF16 is my favorite game of all time.
it's the worst final fantasy game tho. play elden ring
@@solutionxero it’s the best , don’t care what yah say :)
Already platinumed elden ring , waiting on DLC. Till then more FF16 :)
The most epic game I have ever played, absolutely legend (FF16)
@@harrykewell8666 yes ❤️
"we're going to focus on playstation 5 games so no old ps4 games".... Game no. 6 Skyrim - everyones favorite exclusive
ps5 version of cyberpunk 2077 was a decent game even before the dlc and 2.0 update. now it is a total spanker!
I Absolutely Love *Final Fantasy 14/XIV and 16/XVI,* as the Best RPG Games there is of the PS5 System!
I would add FF 7 remake intergrade, Tales of arise and Soul Hackers
Tales of Arise should have replaced FF16. 16 is a great game but more action game than rpg.
Just platinumed Persona 5 Royal recently. Was quite the experience
Persona 5 Royal, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy XVI and Sea of Stars are all amazing games. I can’t wait for Persona 3 Reload and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in February!
Thank you, Rosie, for adding that 11th pick to the list! It's definitely one of my favorite games, easily one of the best RPGs on PS5!
How does Witcher 3 not make this list??
Because it wasn't originally released on the PS5
@Ddd-rk3hr that's not the criteria. Having a native ps5 version is the criteria and witcher 3 has one. Persona 5 r, ff14, and especially skyrim weren't originally released on ps5 either.
@@Ddd-rk3hrneither was Baldurs gate
Imagine OT2 & Sea of Stars on a dedicated PS handheld wherever you go and are
Honestly, this list includes what I'd consider 5 of the best games of all time (including, with FFXIV, my actual favourite game ever), and the other 5 are pretty good too.
I would add Cyberpunk and Witcher 3 to the list
Witcher 3 is a masterpiece, why is not on their list? One of the best RPG's of all time.
That buldors gate character. Was that Dragon quest 11s protag?! Lmaoo
Baldurs gate 3 is goty
Baldurs Gate 3 is the worst game made in years by a legitimate developer and it makes no damn sense how many weirdos enjoy such cringe garbage.
It's definitely my game of the year
@@TheMrNukeman WHY SO MUCH HATE ? LMAO
RPGs are the reason I switched to Playstation, specifically Persona 3. I can't believe after all these years, we're about to return full circle.
FF7 remake and Scarlet Nexus should be there
Disco Elysium is so gooooood ! And Skyrim is eternal 🥰
So not fair that BG3 isn't on PS4... Great video. Thanks.
Get a ps5 lol
@@QuercusQuest I love my PS4. I can't take the chance of losing my games data. 🤣
I’m torn because I really enjoy almost every aspect of BG3, but I’m having a hard time getting into turn based combat.
Like watching your grandma breakdance 😂😂😂 👍
I can hear Nath’s eye twitching at the lack of Witcher 3! A passing Gwent reference is not enough.
I'm surprised not to see Chained Echoes in the list.
Disco Elysium! What a game, I don't know if I've ever laughed as hard as I did at shit thats said and that happens in this game, its amazing stuff. I cannot wait to play another game from this studio.
I would have put Witcher and Cyberpunk on the list long before anything Bethesda.
It's so weird to me that in the Swiss PlayStation Store, Baldur's Gate 3 still isn't in the Staff Favorites (or Recommended) list. HOW.
Lol I loved there being a secret boss in the list :)
So many great RPGs and not enough time to be able to play them.
Too many children:)
Love seeing Disco Elysium on the list this game is INCREDIBLE!
All of these are rpgs but to not add Witcher 3 to the list is criminal
Turn based final fantasy please 😊
I would have picked The Witcher III Wild Hunt over Skyrim. Tales of Arise and Scarlet Nexus are 2 others that should have made this. Many hated Valkyrie Elysium but I enjoyed it.
0:03 does anyone know what game this is???
BG3! BG3!!
Trails into Reverie 👍
So many great choices here. liked Octopath traveller 1, havent played the 2nd yet. Elden Ring I loved the world but man I got stuck with the difficulty. Final Fantasy16 i bought with my ps5 as was the first FF ive really vibed with (though I have played a little of 7 remake and 15). Disco E is so funny.
I miss when games had great music and high contrast colors and not repetitive quests
Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous has something to say about this list.
I miss videos where only Rob who speak from start to end of a video without other members
Rosie said, "I've had more drinks with these characters than actual friends." So not including any Access members because they are mere colleagues?
I love and agree with this list. But any list with the top RPGs should have The Witcher 3. In my opinion, it’s the best game ever made, not just the best RPG. Oh, and Persona 5 Royal is the second best RPG ever in my opinion!
How did you manage to get this one by the one true King David without Marvels Midnight Suns making the cut?
Skyrim!
FFXVI is like a hack and slash action game.
No mention of either Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure, Trails of Cold Steel 1-4 or Trails into Reverie, invalid list.
Man,
I wish Playstation first party Studios would do an RPG like Witcher 3 on ps5.
Its the only genre that Sony could rule 100% without any competition.
Maybe I should give Disco Elysium a try if I ever get a PS5
I have a ps5 I never use so I was hoping for some insight into why everyone likes it so much. All you listed here are jrpgs (meaning for children) and games that are significantly better on pc. I guess this console really does only have 2 Fromsoftware games and ghost of Tsushima. Which are 3 exclusive rpgs not even listed here
Sheesh I expected more.. midnight suns is kinda rpg
And we still have Lords of the Fallen in a couple of weeks!
Square calls Octopath Traveler’s visual style "HD-2D"
Lists are subjective, but having two final fantasy games and no Witcher 3?
ESO!
No "insert game I like here", how dare you!
CD Project Red are at this moment saying hold my beer..............
Great video though gang !
I think the native ps5 release clause knocked them off the list
I miss Witcher 3 :D
No mention of cyberpunk 2077!?
Cyberpunk and Witcher
No Witcher 3, Scarlet Nexus, Tales of arise, but they choose Sea of stars? When isn't an Rpg.
Tales of arise, where is tales of arise? 😛
my granny does break dance sadly
Assassin’s creed should be on this list
Ff16 is the first release since I played 7 that I have almost no interest to play. I don’t know what it is but I just can’t bring myself to it. The demo was cool and all but it just didn’t feel the same to me.
