  • I walk through the huge Hispanic community of Union City, NJ along Bergenline Avenue. This street is the longest commercial avenue in the state of New Jersey, and features over 300 retail stores and restaurants. It's served by a Light Rail station at 49th Street. The thoroughfare is also known as "Havana on the Hudson" and "Miracle Mile".

    Union City is my hometotown. If you live here in Union City, everything is close. If you need to go shopping, go to Bergenline Ave. Another option: Newport Mall in Jersey City or American Dream Mall in East Rutherford. If you need to go dining, you can go to Bergenline or even Summit Avenue. If you need to go to a bodega, chances are there is one close to your house. If you need to go for a relaxed walk, go to Boulevard East just like 10 minutes walk distance from northern Bergenline Ave. Entertainment is everywhere in Union City, in the county (Hudson County) and nearby, and just minutes from NYC by bus. Most stuff are within walking distance or you need to get the bus. I have lived here my whole life and I have everything here or close. I only go to New York City for the airport (if Newark airport dont have flights I need) or just to see something different for entertaiment. The last time I went to NYC was 3 years ago when I had to go to an airport. Oh, and if you live in Union City, chances are you dont need to speak English. Most of us speaks Spanish here. Casi todos hablamos español aquĂ, mas del 90%!😄

      @@NosoysosoyAlien Hola, voy a usar mi otro canal de CZcams para responderte, porque mi comentario se sigue borrando. La renta de Union City es mucha mĂĄs barata que la de Nueva York, Hoboken y el downtown de Jersey City. Pero es cara en comparaciĂłn con muchos lugares del paĂs. Por ejemplo, la renta de un apartamento de dos cuartos de dormir usualmente es de unos $1,400 al mes. TodavĂa existen rentas mĂĄs baratas, y tambien las hay mĂĄs caras.

    Thanks, ActionKid, for another interesting walk! I remember looking up population density some months ago, and I saw that Manhattan has 72,000 people per square mile; the thing is, though, since Manhattan doesn't count as a city (obviously it's a borough of NYC), it doesn't get listed in the most populated cities. NYC overall averages 27,000 people per square mile, however. I'd like to note that the Los Angeles neighborhood of Koreatown averages 40,000 people per square mile, and if I remember right, you visited there last summer when you went to Los Angeles. .... Well anyway, if Manhattan counted as a city on its own, it would be listed as the 8th most densely populated city in the world. Cheers from northeast Ohio! :)

    The light rail on the corner used to be Gino's Restaurant and as you walk straight towards Kennedy Blvd on the corner that used to be the Unemployment Office. The CVS Pharmacy that's on 48th Street in Bergenline Ave that used to be an ACME Supermarket, Mercados De Las Americas on 45th Street in Bergenline Ave that used to be an old Movie Theather, Pollos Mario on 43rd Street in Bergenline Ave used to be the Post Office before the moved it to a different location between 45th and 46th Street Bergenline Ave. I can go on and on.

    • @RobertWilke
      @RobertWilke Pƙed 2 lety

      So can I but further. Yes that was the Place of Gino's, a fast food place that sold burgers and had franchise license for KFC. About every 16-18 months though they'd have grease fire and close down to renovate. Where the CVS is used to be a Foodtown supermarket but before that the parking lot next to it going down to 47th street were all small businesses. In the middle though they had the entrance for a double theater that ran major films back in the day. During the beginning of the last Century the Comedian George Burns did Burlesque there. Yes there was a theater on just before 45th, got to see Saturday Night Fever there.
      There's a very specific reason why Bergenline goes from a two to only a one way. See back before all of this was connected the land to the right of Action Kid was not commercial. Heck it wasn't really residential either. that whole area was farm land and what we see of the one way of Bergenline was a Cow Path. I should know, my great great Grandfather owned the land there fron what was Holthausen department store to where the Burger King is. Sadly land wasn't worth much back then and he sold it for literally a pot of beer. I too can go on but that's all for now.

      @@joanhamm8216 I'm a fan of oldies music. There was a group, called The Drifters, which also had the late Ben E. King in it. They sang songs like, Spanish Harlem, Up On The Roof, and Under The Boardwalk, which reflects these types of places so well. I like Action Kid's videos, because they are so good, and it's like I'm right there. Even though I'm in Edmonton, Alberta, in Canada, these videos are a great way to see other places from the comfort of my own home. In these times, these videos are a great way to relax. Cheers! ✌

    Quick correction: most of the Cubans left the area. There aren't any Cuban communities anymore. That was more true in the 90's. Also, the buses aren't less than a dollar anymore and yeah, same price no matter the distance. Nice video tho! It's nice to see how things have changed, and what businesses still remain the same!
