I have a walk-in closet in my house that I want to turn into a secret hidden room, so I'm going to build a low-cost bookshelf that conceals the door to the closet completely without making any permanent changes to the architecture of the building. Enjoy! Be inspired!

I love how you made it so people can't just look for a pull string, but have to actually unscrew part of it open. That is amazing. Nobody who had an idea it could be a secret room would think to look behind a screwed in strip of wood.
Honestly one of my favorite hidden book shelves. A lot of other project recess into the wall and include removing an already hinged door. Saves so much time, measuring, and routing if you just use the already installed door. Well done.
The problem with this is I would want to show everyone which would defeat the purpose....
Just tell them you have a secret room in your house and have them look for it but don't tell them anything
Ikr., that is what I would feel
Lmao fr that’s me
fax
You mean like the entire internet world? 🧐😕😒
At first I thought I would be obvious. But the finished product was awesome. Well done
Nooice
Ye
The thing is I have to screw stuff which will be loud and it's called a secret hideout so I don't want my parents to know about because they will use it all the time which defeats the purpose
@@kaylandcash5036 when there not home by yourself you can do it
@@kaylandcash5036 how would your parents not know?
I like using the original door with lock for securing the room. I would only suggest instead of a screw to put the board back; hiding the lock, maybe some inset magnets to secure the board quicker and easier than trying to have a screwdriver around!?!? great customization in hiding the left side of the original door and lock!!
I like that idea better as well!!
For everyone who’s afraid that their door is gonna break: You can put rolls under the book shelf to make the pressure even
Adding extra hinges to the door, wheels to the base may wear carpet indicating there is something there.
@@jamesbh101 it also helps to have a solid door and not a hollow one
Based on the location of the doorway you are using... I would suggest reversing how the door opens, so that it opens from the left-hand... Then it wouldn't be opening toward the wall. Use long hinge-plates -- so the pivot line is about 3/4" further out from the door facing -- and the shelf-unit could open a full 90 degrees...
Great idea. I have no idea how many of us missed it!!😆😄
Salaam to you and to all.
I would have re-hung the door to the right side. Simple to do and the door will open to 90 deg. Currently you are limited to the size of objects you can push through.
It is like a panic room as well. Just a feature I like in a room and looking incredibly nifty!
Man, you got my gears going. Thank you for sharing.
This is how ill keep safe my clothes from my sister 🙌🏻
tf does she do with them
@@youtubepolice3097 Right?
Bruh im a boy and my sister still steals my clothes
@@harrymcnally129 Yeah same when I was younger, apparently my shirts were more 'flatering' and comfortable.
@@youtubepolice3097 oh idk maybe, take them to wear?
Could’ve re-hinged the door to swing the other way. Still a great job.
I was thinking the same thing !
Maybe he didn't have enough space for the door to open
No because the bookshelf is connected to the door.
James Ross i mean the whole thing, maybe the whole bookshelf is too big for this room (inside).
Joseph Hathaway but the thing is anyone could mistakenly open it
Imagine creating a secret room only for 400k people to see it
hahahaha.
i don't get it

I've always wanted to have a secret room, and this looks amazing. I love that it's not your typical "pull the book to open." But instead, you have to unscrew a screw behind a wooden plank, absolutely genius!!
the last line of this video ... EPIC! :D
Nice job for a DIY guy with basic tools. For anyone thinking about doing this I would suggest using cabinet grade plywood over construction grade. It will provide a much nicer/smoother paint finish, and is much easier to work with because it remains flatter. That was a lot of extra work to accommodate the problem of the unit hitting the wall. Just move the door hinges to the opposite edge to alternate the door swing.
I thought of switchng the hinges, too
They'll never find the grow room now!
Damn i came here to comment the same thing lol
I’m here trying to figure this out for this exact reason, my grow room! Haha
Oh no they will and they did.....
All they have to do is get the K9 or look at the house’s blueprints
Lol. You wouldn't need a k9 to sniff out weed. 🤣The whole block would reek!
"I even made the bed! That was the hardest part." So true!
My CZcams algorithm brought me here... make one secret door video and now I can’t stop checking out everyone else’s!! Nice job!
Great video! I'm building my own little storage shed on my property and couldn't resist clicking your 'secret room' vid nice touches of humor. esp making your bed :)
This is ridiculously beautiful, I love it!
I actually watched the whole video and enjoyed it that's a first for me, you made it look so easy to. I hope to see more videos like this from you.
I will be attaching an existing bookcase to the studs of an large access panel. Super excited about this project.
Impresive man im gonna try that in my room
Great work!! It is pretty cool that you did that with limited tools.
Very CLEVER! I've always been a fan of the "Murphy door" but this (your design here) takes it to a whole (better!) level. Well done!
Makin de bed that was the hardest part😂🤣😅
@Fiendish Fox they only misspelt "the" chill

That looks phenomenal, I'm gonna make one of these one day when I move, and it'll be before anyone comes over. Nobody will know about my secret room :D
I love it. it's so cool that I did it to my door
Been looking for an easy way to do this and you have the simple video ives seen thanks bro you rock
This amused me on levels I can't even begin to describe, AND I learned something. Thank you!
Thank you - enjoyed your video - you're engaging and very informative - please make more videos!
🇯🇲👋 l think it's my 3rd time watching this video,, great step by step instructions. I do believe i want to try to make one of those using your concept. 👍
Thank you for teaching us
.
Was making stereotypical judgments bout the man bun till your Ace Ventura quote..... Nice job bro.
Very good ideas and simple. I’ve been searching around a while and you’re idea is the simplest yet
That was awesome
Pretty complicated thanks 🙏 I need to do one for my room
Damn that was some skilled wood work!! U made it look easy. Lol 😂 amazing job!!! Now come build me one!! Lol 😂 😆😜 I need to hide from this covid-19 shit lol
Lmao 😂
LoL LoL LoL so funny like stfu man
Well done amazing work
I really like that but you should look for a way to easily unlock and lock quick in case you had someone break in and need to get to your safe room quick
Loved it, Loved it, Loved it, you are so resourceful , and funny, the last part about making the bed, the hardest part, you not wrong there, I think the majority of guys out there would agree . Thank you for the excellent video, Subscribed, and looking forward to other videos.
i love this episode and have fallen in love with this channel
congratulations awesome job!!
Genius. Simply genius
Cool, but man that wood dust and shavings 😂
Nice. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
The abilities required to do such a job are the exact same I'm lacking, and it's not even a joke! Impressive man!
Outstanding.
Great work!! Thanks
Great job man! Thinking of doing something like this in my house
Instead of having to screw and unscrew the last scre to lock and unlock the door, which will wear off the paint quickly, you can get a small dowel rod that slides forwards and back. You could carve it to look a little like a screw. It might stick out a little bit but I doubt that anyone would notice
This came out really cool !! I wanna try making one ! But first, I gotta build a small room !!
Great work. Thank you for the idea!
Awesome idea!
Thanks..😄
Thanks this was helpful🙂
Masterpiece!
Awesome video!!!! Thanks for sharing
Simply a piece of beautiful craftsmanship 10/10
So this is what Joshua Weissman does when he is not cooking! Great job bro!
For this design, though, you can't use it for a panic room since you can't close the clasp on the left if you're inside. But for a secret storage room that you rarely frequent, it's perfect.
bet you could add an eye hook to the back of that panel, with a piano wire so you could pull it closed from the door crack. not sure how to pop it back open from inside though! that could be a problem.
well done man, i love it
I’ve had an idea for a hidden loft hatch and I’d love some input for some one with experience in hiding doors
Great video. Thank you
Awesome and cheap way to do it... Thanks
Excellent work! God bless
This is great. You are very helpful.
This is awesome in case somebody breaks into the house and they won’t even Realise good job
The bed was the hardest part🤣imm dying
Thank for showing
I want a secret room. Awesome work. Thanks for sharing. We are friends now.
Awesome you really know whist your doing !
Hmmmmm I wonder what's getting put behind that door
He put his gaming setup there
Love it and love the bun too
That is the best I’ve seen yet. I love it
Fun use of a closet, I like the hidden key hole. 👍
Great concept & well executed!
Great idea!!
I love it
Excellent job. Quite inspiring as well.
Salaam to you and to all.
good video keep it up
well done. A bit complicated but you were enthusiastic and made it look easy.
I love that this is not inset , its more real this way
I like this secret room!
I am definitely going to do this. xD
Good job, looks good now for your room
Badass!
Dude this is soooooo cool!!!! The older I’ve become the more I e realized that our inner child never goes away
Great video!!!
Bad ass secret room. I would say instead of screwing in the shelf and unscrewing to lock/unlock, simply move the shelf a little lower than the door lock, and attach a book facing the front with a cut out inside the book. Open the book cover and reveal the hidden door lock and or handle. But still a dope vid!
Saw the ryobi and that’s all I needed to know ✌🏼
Yo I really learned and enjoy the video thanks you're really a funny guy 👍 great idea of DIY
I'm impressed 😀
Solid effort mate well done
that is awesome!
Tony Stark the robber: please be a secret door, please be a secret door, please be a secret door *opens* yay
Well Done!
I have to say yours is one of the best I've seen especially with the added security of the hidden lock and folding frame piece 👌 👏 excellent work. How well has it held up with the added weight. Wondered if maybe a few extra added hinges would be needed for extra support?
Thanks so much! It has actually held up very well. No wear and tear on the carpet from opening and closing, and the hinges are still holding strong.
Dang this is brilliant dude! The best I've seen.
Finally something is not too complicated, thank you.
Damn this fr super cool
Nice Job!!
