  • These commercials aired on KSTW in September of 1992
    1. KSTW Fire Safety PSA (Partial. We must stop these pyromaniac raccoon puppets before it's too late)
    2. Promo for "Full House"
    3. "Merrie Melodies" Intro
    4. "Merrie Melodies" Commercial Bumper
    5. Lucky Charms (With free microwavable birthday cake!!!11)
    6. Gummi Lifesavers
    7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtle Bubble Bomber and Sewer Sand Cruiser (That animatronic Raphael head is pure nightmare fuel. And you've gotta love toys that were clearly inspired by the Gulf War...I'm surprised there wasn't a "Saddam Shredder" action figure. By this point TMNT toys were completely off the rails and the crappy third movie effectively killed the franchise for a few years)
    8. "Merrie Melodies" Commercial Bumpers
    9. Hershey's (Pure milk chocolate, yo! That looks like Thora Birch in the glasses at 3:44)
    10. Teen Talk Barbie (Apparently in 1992 giant floppy hats with enormous bows were extremely in style)
    11. Batman Returns Batmobile and Action Figures (The Batmobile from the Burton films is iconic and IMO still the best version put to film)
    12. KSTW Kids Club Bumper
    13. Promo for "Saved By The Bell" (Does "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" take place in the same fictional universe as "Saved By The Bell"? Or do they represent two parallel universes?)
    14. KTSW Safety PSA
    15. "Merrie Melodies" Commercial Bumpers
    16. McDonald's
    17. California Roller Baby (As a fan of the Beach Boys, this crushes my soul a bit)
    18. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bodacious Birthday Turtles Action Figures (Like I said, these figures were getting totally ridiculous by this point, and even as a kid you went WTF when staring at an action figure of Michelangelo dressed as a clown and wondered how it all went so wrong so fast. Also, no Donatello birthday figure? He was my favorite :sadface:)
    19. "Merrie Melodies" Commercial Bumpers
    20. Squeezit (The animation in these reminds me a lot of the parts in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" where Bob Hoskins interacted with animated props)
    21. Too Legit To Quit PSA (Partial...unfortunately. With MC Hammer natch)
    22. Thunderbird Home Centers

    I used to watch this Merrie Melodies show on weekday mornings, it was on WWOR in New York.
    I believe Pixar did the Gummi Savers ad.
    Good Morning Miss Bliss was a "prequel" to Saved By The Bell and had 13 episodes before it was canceled; a few of the characters from that show made it onto SBTB which started after its cancellation.

      +DanZero77 I posted the Gummi Savers ad a few months ago with the same observation and just didn't feel like repeating myself. Pixar did it, and it was the success of that commercial that helped make Toy Story possible.
      Re: The Miss Bliss/Saved By The Bell conundrum. So Zack, Screech, Lisa AND Mr. Belding all move from Indiana to California at the same time...and attend a High School that looks identical to their middle school in Indiana? Something doesn't add up, man.

    • @DanZero77
      @DanZero77 Před 8 lety +2

      +80sCommercialVault Add that to the fact that those GMMB episodes were part of the Saved By The Bell syndication package, with Zack introducing each of the episodes saying that they were from "when they were younger". That sure confused me when I saw them!

      +DanZero77 Same here. I often refer to the episode as "The Miss Bliss Files".

      Heavily inspired by Eyvind Earle's backgrounds and art direction from Disney's Sleeping Beauty.

    oh man for some reason I was cracking up at the gummy savers ad, too funny! I do agree many of those later TMNT toys were just completely ridiculous!

    Ninja turtles as party entertainers... the mind boggles. At least Rob Paulsen got a paycheck from that ad. :-)

      +R.D. Dragon And yet, in the CG animated Ninja Turtle movie from 2007, Michelangelo did take a job entertaining at children's birthday parties at the beginning of the film, when the group had split up.

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! "We're running out of ideas."

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  Před 8 lety +1

      +sonicmatrix There were a bunch of characters from the cartoon that were never explored or came out towards the very end of the toy line, like a decent version of Shredder and Krang's body. A Human Baxter Stockman with attachable pieces to turn into a fly would have been neat.
      Granted the same thing happened to the Real Ghostbusters toy line, which devolved into endless variations of the four core characters.

      @pensacolian211 Před 8 lety

      Yes. It's a shame there was never really a good version of Shredder back then. At least not one that looked like Shredder from the cartoon (although they did release one later on with a paint job that more matched the cartoon series, but still had that same crappy body mold). The original one sucks. I still have mine, although my son''s pretty much trashed it. Even as a kid, though, I thought he looked anorexic, and that weird hunched over position made him pretty much useless when it came to fighting with the turtles. I also never liked all the weird gimmicks that came out for the turtles. I still got plenty of them, but at the end of the day I always preferred the four basic turtles over any of the others. I'm hoping they'll release a classic version of Shredder sometime down the line, because I'd love to have one in my collection.

    I agree with you 100% on that TMNT commercial, the voice is off too, it sounds Michealangelo. The toy line took a nose dive, for sure! :/

    God. I haven't seen Saved by the Bell since probably 1992. I remember watching it and thinking they all looked so grown up. But looking at it now, they look like babies.
    There should be some kind of law against using Beach Boys songs in commercials.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  Před 8 lety +3

      +skystarless The episode in the promo here was originally from "Good Morning, Miss Bliss"...essentially a pilot season with a few of the same characters in middle school. So Zack, Screech and Lisa were a bit younger. Even during the first real season of "Saved By The Bell" some of the cast looked very young...but by the end of the show they all looked like they were college aged.

    That first one is Rosco the Raccoon from the "Ranger Charlie & Rosco" show. Local children's programming that aired in western Washington from 1988 to 1994. I remember they covered all topics from not wasting water when brushing your teeth to "bad touching."

  • @yusakug
    @yusakug Před 8 lety +4

    That Teen Talk Barbie...Is that the one that was controversial for saying things like "math class is hard"? I believe this doll went on to be parodied in The Simpsons episode where Lisa buys a talking Malibu Stacy doll, and is offended by the simplistic and idiotic things the doll says, so she decides to track down Stacy's original creator and make her own doll..

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  Před 8 lety +3

      I looked it up and it was indeed this doll, but the actual quote was "Math class is tough!"
