    My girlfriend and I first got together during the heaviest exam session I had (talking crazy long studying hours for weeks without days off, was brutal 🤕). Realities of medical school sometimes!

    AsSalama'laikum Adnan! This is a very important topic. My wife and met and got engaged when we were both applying to med school. It was not more involved since we're practicing Muslim. When we "dated", we had a "wali" with us (parents, family members or elders in our community). We got married, with our parent's blessings!😊❤ Four kids and twenty-five five years later, we're STILL very happy together😍, thank the Lord (Alhamdu'liLah)! There's always challenges in a marriage (😤😲😠😰😵😭💔💸🏚). However, we just prayed🙏🏾and, TRY our BEST, to work things out. It's been a wonderful life!😊I REALLY like your channel!👨🏾‍⚕️👍🏾

      I agree! I respect how you kept everything in line with your values and made it work (and are still happily married)! The hardships of marriage scare me sometimes. I’m glad things have worked out well for you! Thank you brother, I appreciate it! 🙏🙏

    Glad to hear that med students still have time for relationships... I think similarities between the couple would be helpful v

      You always have time for things really important to you, but not always as much as you want, imo. There’s definitely benefits to couples with a lot of similarities!

    Could you make a video about paying for medical school? I guess you take out loans for tuition, but what about housing, food, etc.?

    Hello, I need advice as a incoming freshman who’s going to a community college and transferring to a university. Me currently I struggled a lot in highschool and with every subject, I wasn’t a good writer and a good reader... I also still haven’t found out how to study and memorize, reinforce information, what’s important and not. I need help Adnan thanks!!

    • @DrAdnan
      @DrAdnan  Před 4 lety +3

      I’d recommend going to a study skills workshop or course, or getting in contact with your local university study resources center if you can. If not, there’s various techniques you can search for and use online, but these require you to be self disciplined. Techniques like spaces repetition, memory associations, and active learning are good places to start along with building up your focus and productive time blocks via pomodoros or other techniques

    I think being in the same profession helps...I had a friend who was a dentist who married an engineer...so the guy got his dream job package in a state where her program wasnt being offered so It created some friction. Like my parents are both doctors so it helped them just be more understanding but then tbh they are quite similar in nature, have similar interests so in the end compatibility and the willingness to compromise is imp.

    • @DrAdnan
      @DrAdnan  Před 4 lety +1

      If docs are really specialized sometimes they’re geographically limited as well though. Even if they’re not, they may not be able to find work in the same area. I’ve seen things work out both better and worse with couples of the same profession. I agree shared interests and values are important though. If both your parents are doctors, I bet they’re making you continue the lineage 😂.

    • @studywithmedstudent4459
      @studywithmedstudent4459 Před 4 lety

      @@DrAdnan yh tbh it generally comes down to common interest but even more to compatibility and mainly willingness to be open towards each other and compromise. I guess her partner wasnt so much like that so she sacrificed. Lool yh I wanted to be an advocate like I even selected all the college and unis I would apply to but they were adamant on me being a doctor.. but I am happy in this field...like tbh esp if u have a corrupt judicial and police system...being a lawyer can be a lost cause...I realized as doc I could help more...like I remember in the quran there this ayat about if u save a life it's like u saved the nation..so it that's motivating.
      Its the thing with Asian parents...be doctors...have kids that are doctors and marry them to doctors 🤣🤣😝🤑🤮😁

    • @DrAdnan
      @DrAdnan  Před 4 lety

      Naima Tariq that’s true, compatibility and compromise are crucial. I’m glad you still enjoy the field you’re in! Yeah, docs can save or improve lives in a way that appeals to the most direct or literal interpretation of that verse. Mhm, they def want a strong all-doctor family haha. I think the emphasis on doctors is a bit overhyped esp in the US, but it’s a solid career.

      @@DrAdnan In the uk it isnt plus it's so difficult to get into a medschool in the uk like I remember from my college only 2 ppl got it so yh. And alot of their graduates want to be surgeons so it's good if you ever want to be a physician and move to the uk ..plus the physicians get paid higher than surgeons which is strange. Haha lol they made my younger brother go to medschool n he hates it.

    • @DrAdnan
      @DrAdnan  Před 4 lety

      lol I’m surprised surgeons get paid less. Forcing kids to go to med school is a very common Asian/Middle Eastern thing unfortunately haha
