This life is good, you can find happiness in almost everything around you, in the smallest of things, like the worms coming out of the ground before sunrise, the birds song welcoming the morning, or how they dance in the puddles of spring. Life is blooming around us welcoming in the new year, but you can see it in other places then nature. Its already around you, within you. You just have to know how to look for it. Each of those people, casts their own light on this world. Like a candle. They have friends, family, other strangers they only interact with in fleeting moments. Either to be held close to them in memory., or lost to the sea of years that we live. The good ones, shine the brightest. Like the friend who will open their home to you when you're in need, the stranger who feels compelled to speak just because he knows another person is in pain. And there are not so good ones, dim people. Sometimes More analogy then metaphor 😂 but imagine the life a dimly lit person lives. What is it, that has snuffed away at their light? What pain afflicts them so much, that when they cannot handle it or face it themselves, they try to pass it off to a brighter candle. Try to dim somebody's else's candle so they don't feel so bad about the shine of their own. So they don't feel as alone or alienated in this world.
Now think of yourself. Think of all the pain, and torment you've faced in your life. Everything that has ever broken you, or nearly broken you. Realize that you've overcome it all. That even if you let your flame waver in moments, it always seemed to burn twice as bright as you came over the other side of it. See, because where a dim candle, shares their pain by trying to dim others. A bright candle shares their light along with their pain. Illuminates a hurt person, and tries to help them burn brighter. Not because you expect thanks, or gratitude in return. No. Because you know what the pain is like, you know how dark the world can feel when your own light starts to dim. So you bathe those in darkness with your light when you have it! And you bathe in the light of others when you're feeling dim. This is how you know who your friends are in this world. Those candles that choose to share their light, rather then try to diminish your own. So wear a smile on that face! Take whatever pain you're feeling now, and share it with light. With love. Even if the vulnerablilty scares you. Because its the sharing of that light that makes this world a brighter place for everyone. And if we all live in a bright world one day, we may not even have dim candles left to hurt us.
