Dear Fr, Fr Bourke is a very brave man. The Irish State is in an undeclared war against Our Divine Saviour and His Church. The sooner our Church leaders recognise this fact the better. The minister voted publicly for the slaughter of the unborn therefore if he repented privately he must then publicly declare his opposition to abortion and do all he can to end this slaughter. This is repentance.

You don’t get to make that judgement, I’m afraid. You have no idea about the person’s relationship with God and with his confessor, nor does the priest. There’s a process around this, and the priest ignored it. A decision like this cannot be made by a priest without consultation with his bishop and the hierarchy. The priest is not brave, he is weaponising the Eucharist and trying to act as God in ultimate judgement. That’s extremely grave. The Eucharist is not a reward for do-gooders, we know that the Eucharist can bring us away from sin and protect us from mortal sin the more we receive it. The Eucharist is medicine, love beyond measure, healing, life itself. Christ said forgive sinners seventy times seven. Forgive, forgive, forgive, and bring people to see the error of their ways through love and good example.

Because the public promotion of any Mortal Sin is a grave scandal, it must be publically confessed and also confessed in Confession. When this public sinner came for Holy Communion he had not yet publically admitted his sin that he helped kill the innocent and that in the future he would work only to promote Pro-Life. Also Holy Communion received in Mortal Sin is NOT a blessing for that person as the Scriptures (and exorcists) warns us in 1 Corinthians 11:27-32.

Fr Gabriel did the right thing, and more should follow.
Catholicism is not a part time hobby, not a pick n mix option when it comes to selecting which of God's laws you wish to obey.
As I mentioned myself on a local radio station when we were discussing this subject, if you think you disagree with, or indeed know better than God unrepentantly, then you have no right to demand anything of his Church, and certainly no right to the Eucharist.
The church needs to stand for what it believes in, boldly. There is no ground gained in passivity nor retreat. The true the good and the beautiful doesn't change to accommodate contemporary opinions.
Thanks Fr Brendan for a great video as always.

The former is an automatic act under certain circumstances and not formally declared or may not even be know by church authorities. Formal excommunication is actually uncommon and it’s likely that some people have excommunicated themselves via their actions without even being aware and it will never be formalised. I was a parishioner of a terrific Fr Hogan, in Multyfarnham, in 2018 when, after the Abortion Referendum, he refused Holy Communion to Robert Troy, a pro-abortion FF politician. After complimenting Fr Hogan on his courageous stance his answered humbly "I did it to save his soul!" Whata a great priest!
But, may I suggest, there's a related more serious issue for our priests and bishops i.e. as guardians of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ which can only be received if recipients are in the state of grace. Our priests and bishops know that it's widespread that people, for example while at funerals or weddings, - including non-Catholics - present for Holy Communion while not being in the state of grace! Are priests and bishops doing anything to address this fundamental tenet of our Faith? At the very least, I would suggest, celebrants should announce before Holy Communion the importance of this condition and, should the state of grace not be present, they present for a Blessing instead of Holy Communion.

We live in an age of utter 'relativism' with its total indifference to authority. The question is 'why' any individual would knowingly precipitate such a crisis? Why would any individual with prior indifference to the sanctity of human life want to present for Holy Communion? Is presenting oneself thus not a less-than-passive-act, a further public assertion of the prior indifference but which potentially visits injury to the conscience of many others? Do we want to have the cake of relativism and eat the bread of life? Hardly! If we don't believe in the sanctity of life we probably don't believe in the real presence and view the Church merely as a human institution. In that case why would continue to participate? Is it for mere social gain?

Here in the US, our former Speaker in the House of Representatives representing San Francisco area in California has supported abortion rights and against any legislative restrictions passed by various states throughout her political career. Her bishop excommunicated her-her bishop. Soon after, she flew over to Rome and received communion from Pope Francis. Our current president goes to communion publicly all the time and again has always voted for abortion rights and against any restrictions. When the earthly head prelate of our Church ignores church teaching, we’re going to have confusion.

With The Help of God and His Holy Blessed Mother we will be blessed with more priests like this and you.
I have sadly been guilty of receiving Our Blessed Lord in a state of sin and I will be forever grateful that Our Lord Didn't Strike me down dead on the spot because that is what I deserved. I genuinely didn't do it intentionally but now that God Has Set Fire to my heart with love for Him I would rather die than receive Our Lord's Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity with sin on my soul.
There are two options here, either the T.D doesn't understand that receiving Our Lord in mortal sin is drinking hell upon yourself or he doesn't believe in The Real Presence of God in Holy Communion, both are horrific.
This priest has blessed this politician, he would see that if he had an actual faith in Jesus. So the fact that he is going to the Bishop to complain tells us everything we need to know about the character of his heart.
Let us pray for him, Jesus Died for him even though He Knew the sins he would commit, the same as He Gave His Precious Life for all us sinners 🥰 God bless

Moral obligation trumps legal obligation, I would think. God is so good. I am here in America and as you know we are coming up to an election. I am so struggling with should I vote or not. I am 60 years old and since I have been of age to vote, I have voted. However, here I am with three candidates who two of which support abortion no matter, and one who supports it by existential circumstances and gave the decision back to the states (which I do agree it must be up to the states, but that is another debate) What is grieving is that one of the candidates RFK is Catholic! and is pro choice! once he came out and openly declared that, I messaged him, he won't see it but I had to anyway, and told him that I was encouraged by his reasonable approach to the issues that are huge right now, however because he is now pro choice I can not in good conscience vote for him. So Father, thank you so much for this video. it has put into context my dilemma. Holy Mother of God Pray for Us. Father, I ask your prayers for my and for America.
