I play DI since day 1
For a year i was totally f2p.
And than last couple months i started to spend
And i reallized something.
Its actually doesnt matter ,how much i put into it,because ive just making myself as a victim to the game algorytmh.
The game intentionally designed like this,spend as much as time you can,be no lifer to catch up,spend so much money so you can become Strong
(which is damn relative since there is always bigger fish)
I play the game because i like ot,but ive lost long time ago the feeling "oh gosh,if i dont do this and this,i fall behind,i have to i NEED to do it"
This no longer make sense because the game have a catch up system now which is cool.

I stay in diablo immortal Because the people i knew.
But not because the game design.
And im pretty sure im not the only one.
We all fucking tired of the scummy moves blizzard made in the past time
They never ever made something actually satysfing,just only a part of it,and i damn hate it.
How much money they want from all of us to finally listen to the feedbacks?
And about the f2p part i disagree.
A f2p game can make WAY more money.
(Look at path of exile or warframe)
Because it will grant playability for a wider audience.
The problem with modern gaming, developers dont care about the community,they only see us as a sheep.
A f2p game with good system does actually make more money than a full pay to win game.
More people = more server time= more server time / hour = extra money...

100%!! really similar to my comment. This game has so much potential. Monetization is what it is, but one thing is for sure amongst us all, this game needs to have us EXCITED again! That” I need to do that” feeling NEEDS to come back.
I've been saying that for a long time now; it doesn't matter how much money I put into the game. It makes zero difference and that doesn't encourage anybody to keep putting money in. Actually, the more money I put in the worst I do because their algorithm has me fighting against 10K and 11K whales in the battleground. What really pisses me off is the 3K and 4K people have awesome matches and they can get to legend very easily on the leaderboards. I used to be in the top 10 every season and now I'm like number 49 or something where the people who spend hardly any money are all the way up at the top. Once again, it really doesn't encourage me to spend any more money.
People don't complain about the updates they complain about how ever update is broken and bugged. They complain about tempest because it was super OP and forces you to play the OP class. They complain about update because it's very shallow with little to no real content. And the complain because u can see more then any game there has ever been that this game is only to get money. And have zero care about making a good game for players
Actually i don't feel the Tempest's OP-ness. I tried it but i still prefer my necro and blood knight.
I miss the bk op days or when burn first came to my old barb till it was originally nerfed lol

Well said Echo. I love the game and I’ve played Diablo since Diablo II Lord of Destruction, which I spent 10+years with passion. I love the grind and I was absolutely ecstatic when Blizzard finally came out with the mobile version. Being a working adult, it was obvious to easy to decide to spend moderately in the game which was exactly what you had mentioned, one less beer or meal here and there.
I totally agree with what you said “Remember why you started to play” and “Especially you’re choosing to do it inside a video game”.
The last part was r3ally epic. Hope the fans out there could really digest in your words of wisdom and they could find that same joy and passion that started out.
I do it for myself and the clan. I'm no whale, but I have fun nonetheless. I enjoy the progression, and I enjoy video games. Have fun, and don't worry about the whales and who grids more than you. Troll the trolls and slay demons. Have fun, gamers!
Great video, Echo. In life, if you want to have good mental health, you need to have goals. If you can align your goals with your passions, then you will find contentment and success. I have always been a gamer. I am a father like yourself, so I can’t sit in front of a screen and grind for long hours. I am still passionate about gaming and always will be. Immortal suits my lifestyle, allows me to be a dad, and also to fulfill a passion of mine. So that being said, I often grind to fulfill my goals, and not because it’s fun to do an activity repeatedly. If goals were easy, they wouldn’t be fulfilling. So it’s all about splitting up the grind into healthy, consumable bits and meeting those goals, without sacrificing what’s really important in life, which if your family. So to me, it’s not so much about “are you doing that because you want to be.” It’s more complex than that. The real question is, “are you sacrificing what’s important on life to do these tasks?” If the answer is no, it’s “A OK;” as long as it’s part of a personal goal/passion you have.

I play Immortal casually nowadays mostly to keep up, and I kinda need a break so I don't get burnt out.
I would probably give up DI, but I'm impressed with how much they reinvested into the game with content.
This video is probably what a lot of people like me needed to hear. Sounds stupid but made me emotional in a somewhat hard period of my life.
I realised that the overwhelming negative community is what made me frustrated about the game so much. Yes the monetization is crazy, I’m Canadian and a 200$ orb pack here costs us 321$. Imagine Americans who complain about heavy monetization don’t even know how Insane it is for us lol. I’m a 5k rez player and I’m already at thousands and thousands of dollars spent.Why? because The thrill of the game and the excitment I felt playing was unreal!
When I started playing 2 years ago, learning about immortal vs shadows and all that adventure that would come with it got me SO excited. Used to get goosebumps in shadow wars against the avatar, or in rites. It was years looking for a game like that, focusing on pvp and climb your way to the top with ppl you care about!
That excitment is what’s slowly drifting away for me. The immortal vs shadow, in my opinion, needs a HUGE revamp. The game title itself “ Diablo Immortal” is even telling all of us that. I need to get excited again with why fighting to be an immortal is worth it. We need the challenge of the immortal to be fixed, to actually be fair, so we can have a chance at a blessed reign. It’s been 2 years and it always been either no chance for the immortal, or too easy.
I wanna get EXCITED again like I was in the first year playing this game! like where the excitment and fullfilment means more than the monetization! Example When those capes came out I went crazy! A year after and we still at 1 blessed reign being #1 shadow clan on our server. I think I’m speaking for a lot of ppl who plays the game in terms of “we need to get excited again! “
F2P players also need that excitment, they need to feel that they are accomplishing things!I do think Blizz did somewhat of a great job on obtaining that in a very paid 2 win design. This game has SO much potential for growth, the immortal vs shadows has so much potential to be huge and make us excited again. Our wings also disappeared on assembly, Bg, and other things. Aren’t wings like the whole part of the game? People pay to get em, and we cant see them if we have them on?
Enough talk.. Praying for the best and praying for us all to be excited again!

That's the first time I've seen you sit down in a Diablo Immortal video. I knew this was serious. At times the game does get stale when we don't get events that actually help our builds and we actually see the growing progress daily .
How free to play friendly is the game? I don't mind spending $20-$30 a month for a game, but I really don't want to drop $10k to be relevant in content.
Gaming nowadays is basically find the meta and min/max it. Echo, this is an excellent video/message just reminding everyone to take a step back every once in a while and enjoy gaming!
If every event contains simple objectives like for example: kill 100 monsters, or complete 3 dungeons... it's not an event, and that is what every event seems to be tasked with.
I used to play 10-12 hrs aday for the 2 yrs. And now I play 4-5 hrs aday now,due to the stupid updates in my opinion and I’m happy with that. I wish the updates were better and more rewarding, but that not the case

ever since they changed paragon values, its kinda killed my passion to play. Going from lvl ~1300 to ~250 just felt bad man.

It's way more complicated than I like but I've learned a lot from various videos. I certainly would have left without the additional information. I don't like the various currency options. I want to get gold and use it for everything.
I enjoy the game because i get to play with other players that i enjoy playing with. Great players that have goals and create moments that make the game great.
Lately, when you imbed background music, it's too loud making it harder to understand you speak and what you're trying to convey.
I stopped playing because I couldn't answer the question: why am i doing this? Is there a goal, cosmetic or power wise? Not really all of that would get unlocked by more money and I just don't game like that. I put in a bit of money which got me a measly cosmetic and low power. I can't tell Blizz or Neatease to change direction of course, but I just wish there was a way to engage with the game that wasn't so money focused. Even if that required me to pay $80 or $90 up front like a traditional triple A title.

Was fun. It's just not anymore. I fall asleep within the first 30mins every time I play no matter what time it is or how alert I am. Family, work and other things are more important to me. Been a fun ride but I'm hanging my hat up, Echo, take care. Good luck with future endeavours.
I’ve given Blizzard enough of my money. It would be nice to see a well run game and have them give back to us, the community, for a change. I’m tired of seeing the bots. If blizzard cared about the community it would focus on clearing out the bots. It’s not fair to anyone who enjoys the game and tries to legitimately use the in game features to progress. I can’t continue to support, financially, a company that isn’t willing to deal with major concerns. For now and until they fix the issues I will be F2P.
If you want the issues fixed, stop giving them your money. We have all the power as the customer. Blizzard make a better game, one that is something to brag about like the games in the past.

Absolutely catching up and because I feel I need to in order to keep up. I have a ton of other things to do other than this game. Rebuilding a vintage vehicle, work on my house, work and the list goes on. It’s tedious and I find it impossible to level equipment and gems. Many clans are intense and others chill. I like the chill ones with accursed towers. Full disclosure I haven’t and won’t spend a dime on this game or any game.

Love the video, is an honest "conversation" about priorities and time in life. Sometimes the game feels like an obligation, sometimes I find myself grinding even if I'm tired because I'm feeling behind. Like an addiction, and games work around this, that's why there are so many events & rewards available so you go in the mindset of "just one more".
I been thinking about the amount of time I'm investing in something that is a "virtual satisfaction" and how many other things I can do like spending time with the family. And also in the inevitable moment when you don't want to play anymore, because it will happen.

I, however, have seen a different approach from another youtuber, the mighty Jingles, who tells his viewers that he will go on a vacation and that during that time there will be reduced videos since he needs to take a breather from the youtube work... You still dont get it. No one is complaining about updates or enough content, theres heaps of updates and content to do. The bad thing with this game is that they dont have the decency to respond to people who have been wrongly banned or lost items in the game. You just get a generic answer and that is the end of it. Plus, WHY keep adding stuff into the game when it's so broken. On our server, you can't run dungeons because you move in slow motion
I'm only 3000 reso (close to what you are) and barb and get 20-30 kills quite often in battlegrounds, you should try it again sometime, just need the right build for it. its fun.
I play for fun. For example in d4 or poe check out the new content and perhaps some of the challenges for some cosmetics. Once bored simply move on to another game or other activity. Balance is key!
Black Desert Mobile for all I've played mmorpg so far has stable server, great content and still good both PvE and PvP.
Diablo Immortals okay just still need lots of improvements.
The game vastly eats phone battery. Might be the bad heat where i live and very bad connection in rural area. So i constantly rubberband lag and get disconnected
So why does Riot Games who makes LoL appear very successful as a non-p2w game? I'm no expert but aren't the only things you can buy are cosmetics? and yet LoL is huge.
I don‘t understand why you HAVE to stay above paragon level… seems to me it‘d be better to just keep up to or be slightly below paragon level. Is it a PvP thing? I never PvP so maybe that‘s why I don‘t get it.

Im 100% f2p with 1.9k reso and I've had great */5 star drops this year in the game that ive been forced to get rid of most of my 2 stars. I have a vipers bite, mothers lament, 4/5 Bsj, 3/5 (Roiling, seeping bile, bottle hope,starfire, gloom) the Starfire shard is the only one i bought on the market, the rest were drops from rifts

I was dropping $200-300/week buying currency. Now i notice they don't drop legendary gems in the Elder rift. So you are buying currency to buy gems that you can sell to get.....a different currency? It no longer makes sense. Game is fun and addictive, but starting to get repetitive. I'm almost at Hell II.
If scrappy doesn't play anymore, why not make a new clan name to spice it up?
I used to play free to play mobile games(now there are payed games like gta san andreas,total war ...etc) long ago until I bought ps4, now I can't play them at all..I can't even play free to play games on ps for some reason I can't stand them anymore...I can only play single play games.
Good video! I am also a big fan of DI! I am thankful that it is p2w bc our wonderful whales pay for all of these fun updates! And I am lucky to be in a whale clan despite only being 4200 reso myself, bc I get to go immortal every six weeks and enjoy the difference between the two modes: shadow/immortal. I like that the game is social and really enjoy my clan mates. I’m glad you’re out there making these videos! ❤

In my server normal gems sells for: sapphire 250 aquamarine 150 the rest 100. Looking at how things sell there its a lot better. The f2p their doesn't seem to capitalize the cheap 5star gem , looks like complaining is a thing rather than playing lol.

*I complain about events being nothing special - they require doing the same things you'd do whether there's an event or not to complete it... it needs to contain objectives outside the norm for it to be considered fun and "different"*

Nice video but..... I still dont see how the market is broken. Not all of us in the community have whales buying us crests. Being able to buy lego gems with platinum helps the low/mid spender. Echo, being someone who only spends $5 per month on the battlepass shouldnt you be promoting a way for the low/mid spender to progress their account?
Going back to the days where a 2/5* lego gem needed for food to upgrade said lego gem was 64k platinum would suck. And that is if someone could even find said 2/5* lego gem in the market.
The market finally seems fixed for the low/mid spender.
I don’t think the gems will go back up. I’ve seen other mobile games that experienced the same decline
for 80 bucks i created a character i like and just farm and play for fun. You dont have to spend hundreds of dollars.

Echo, great video. I only play when real life permits. I spend maybe 20 bucks a month. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge Diablo fan since D1 on cd. I can totally relate to the teacher analogy also. My wife left TN DOE (TDOE) because of politics. This game doesn’t make decisions for me. I hate most of the dumb events, so guess what? I don’t play them! I play what I want, when I want, and spend what I want. If as a gamer, you feel compelled to compete to be the best by the rules set by a game, I hope your actual life is in order enough to allow for that time, energy, and $$. And if it is, power to ya get after it! Your message was well said, and I wouldn’t even be mad if you took a break to reflect. Peace out! I mean $175 is a bit much-even for pay to win-for a fashion item. They’d make just as much putting the items at a decent price, because then more people would be able to afford to buy them thus more sales. The prices they currently have seems more suitable for a game with very few cash shop items and items that have more of an impact on the game overall; rather than just a cool fashion item that is hot when it first comes out but replaced with another hot fashion a month later. If they lowered the phantom market price to even just $75, I know id certainly consider buying more..

I play for fun. I am not even on par with server paragon level, i am Paragon 361 with 35 700 combat rating.
If you really are invested and have a voice that Blizz listens to, why not make more videos about the imbalances that are making people so upset and ultimately quitting. The player attrition is dramatic as servers continue to deplete. Maybe having a content creator than can speak to these things could be a catalyst for change they revitalizes it for a much longer time than another meaningless in game event that players get bored with on day one of release.
Tbh people complain abt the stuff they really care abt..im not a barb user myself and i kinda hate it getting nerfed, why not just buff the other classes to match its level. In this way monk will get a revive too and people can choose whatever class they like instead of searching abt which class is best for pve/pvp etc on youtube/reddit..the game seems dry af. Not a good free skin giving event, market is doomed to death, gem drop rates and restrictions, p2w mechanics, bugs and the issue is these stuff never ever ever gets fixed. I myself hav a trash phone and i play with 30fps sh#ty graphics but i nvr complain abt that bcz ik its my fault but ill cant overlook what devs r doing to this amazing(potential) game..its just a timepass game for f2p players like me so i dont take it seriously at this point, ima uninstall whenever i find a better alternative game or a better device to try a large varity of games. I've been playing for over 2 years now, and now I'd say I'd prefer a little less grind. Especially if you want to have a good rank in the battleground, a lot of time goes into it.
i wish they can make this game a play to earn game... so that players spending so much time playing can also earn by playing this game... or a player to player trade system to trade in game currencies or trade some in game items... hehehehehe...

I wanted to like this game, they didn't let me. 2 perm bans in, still no clue why, I just do single player runs. No point building up again, I'll just lose it all without reason. I only play when it's quiet at work, but I uninstalled the launcher at home due to their neglect of a 20 year player. I enjoy what I can but I ain't rewarding their behaviour.
So interesting. Just posted to my wb chat that i decided to take a break from the game. While i love my game friends, it feels like a chore latley and takes up so much of my time. The pvp part i used to enjoy is more and more pay to win by every update. Its not worth the frustration. Ill have an indefinite brake. Maybe we find something new to play with my friends. Kinda sad about the time, energy and money i put into my account tho. But that is on me.
Im so sad, This game is amazing, The concept, the art, the gameplay, its all so fun. Its like dream fantasy come true. But they are ruining the game every update, why are they doing this. Why do I care about their game more than them
I've found it to be boring over time. Obviously they can't create any content, that doesn't involve grinding. Virtually everything in game, is a grind. Everything designed for massive growth in game, comes with a huge price tag. Heck even cosmetics costing a lot of money. Playing as a f2p player, having to spend endless hours a day grinding, with a carrot hanging out of reach, gets old. Collecting barely any legendary gems, along with barely any worthwhile platinum, makes it pretty stale. Sure, collecting legendary gear, and essences is accomplishable, sure getting green gear is as well, but it's also an endless grind of itself. Legendary gear in game, is a joke compared to Diablo 3. Very little imagination behind it, and no major difference between most of it. No unique appearance, etc. Just increasing numbers, with some limited bonuses, and little benefits vanilla stuff.
Gonna be very honest. If I can hit the delete button and get a 100% refund I'd do it asap. I wish they would have dissolved the DI team and went all in on D4....so sad.

All this feel good whatever. Let's sit back and remember this game made over 500 million dollars in the first year, but now we are playing on severely laggy servers. Every little thing lags. I play a lot with friends on vc, I'm lagging, they're lagging. It's not my device, my internet... yada yada yada... It's their garbage code and hamster driven servers.
Given it's been at least 2 months since the merger that servers have been seriously lagged, and this nonsense continues unabated and worsens... we have every right to gripe. Blizz runs the servers, not Netease. This is all on Blizz. Why should we feel badly for complaining.
Yes, it is a good game; but equally yes, there are tons of unaddressed issues. We are still dealing with bugs since day one. We dont get free cosmetics to do pr for blizz. And not all of us are as casual as you are. Maybe we should be. Some have spent big money on this game and right now, it's a dumpster fire in many respects. If nobody complained, imagine how bad it would be if it was left to developers to actually play their own game (there's a joke) and bug fix when/if they get around to it... (Joke #2)
Sigh.
Anyway, friends made and to game with are the BEST part of DI.
