      Mellisa Bogard what is true is that madame cj Walker (with all due respect) wasn’t the first black millionaire..it was Annie Malone..whom she worked for, and she did in fact steal her recipe. She just changed the scent. I say this with the utmost respect for both ladies..this movie is not accurate Annie wasn’t a colorist like she’s portrayed and it’s a shame that they made it seem that way

    • @misssterling3094
      @misssterling3094 Před 4 lety +26

      @@NicholeG404 You're correct about Ms. Malone not being a colorist, but I've also found that neither of them stole from one another. The recipe for adding sulfur to petroleum jelly was one before both of them. There was no beef between them, but I guess Netflix just HAD to sensationalize and add conflict. I wonder if Mr. CJ Walker was really like he was depicted? I liked it overall.

      Nichole Collins Annie Malone wasn’t the first millionaire . It was Madame, Annie didn’t get big like how Madame did. It’s in the “record book” Madame was the FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALE MILLIONAIRE... But the only thing that’s was correct was yes, Madame did steal the recipe but she just did it better... and obviously went a long way with the product... and as far as the movie going far with Annie being a colorist or not.. u never know if she was or wasn’t.. u didn’t know Annie Malone , so how would u know?

    I'm annoyed i even watched it with all the nonfacts.
    She wasnt the first millionaire, she didn't invent the hot comb. She actually did do sales for Annie Molone.. Annie malone was also a manufacturer, school and product creator including the hot comb. Annie had 75k sales emplyees. The daughter was married three times. This series pitted two women against each other and disgraces one over the other. Back to history class. Can't beliece this granddaughter was down with this depictions. We can even write our own stories right.

      When you give your true story to Hollywood..
      Hollywood is known for changing the truth into lies for more entertainment...
      I remember seeing Tina Turner's interview on how they changed her story too, on Ike...Tina Turner said she was shocked on how they changed her story without her permission

      Annie Malone was NOT even biracial. Like Madam Walker she too was the daughter of TWO black parents, both formerly slaves. There was no evidence of these two women beimg at odds due to colorism. Lies. Also, there is no evidence to supportthst A'Leila Walker was gay...another fabrication among MANY others.

    I'm sorry but if she actually co-signs this sham of a series.. She's a disgrace..
    Why couldn't they just stick to real stuff? They are confusing people who believe everything they see on a screen..
    They tainted another women's legacy with this, why?

    • @JloveLamar
      @JloveLamar Před 4 lety +1

      Movies should only be a starting point, IMO. They don't go fully into depth, and they have to fabricate things to keep it entertaining. There is a reason why we're watching the film and not a documentary on Miss C.J
      Walker. She states in the interview that they only took a small portion of her book and out it on the television screen. I think now is the time to start reading books about her.

  • @RLucasReviews

    Why are so many trying to diminish Sarah’s accomplishments? All I see under her videos are..she wasn’t the first female millionaire...she didn’t invent the hot comb....she stole Annie’s formula....she would be nothing without Annie. C’mon, why are y’all trying to bring her legacy into question? She did a lot and this Netflix series is bringing her life and accomplishments before people who would otherwise never know her name. This woman is in charge of MCJW’s legacy and she has NO issue with the series. You don’t have to bash MCJW to bring attention to Annie Malone. Please, let Sarah Breedlove shine.

    Question. Does walker have another child besides her daughter? From my research she only had one child and her daughter never had any bio children. So, the walker bloodline died when her daughter did. Who are these great-grandchildren for? Curious. 🤔

    Quick question... Madam Walker only had one child that NEVER had children so the true blood line stopped there. If Mae Walker was adopted, how is this lady claiming to be blood to Madam CJ, when “technically” the blood line stopped at A’lelia Walker?
