What a great jig it’s adjustable you can control the length so you end up with a great finish and no problem with clamping. That is a jig I’ll be adding to my collection. I m looking forward to trying it. Thanks for showing the build

Excellent idea. Such a simple yet elegant idea. This would negate the use of a biscuit cutter and yet provides a much stronger solution for jointing 45* joints. 10/10.

Excellent jig... impressive. Like it like 👍. Just that the spline used shouldn't be edge-grains , for wood doesn't have strong resistance for force along the long grains. Its strong across the long grains... so spline should be end-grain joined... does that makes sense? However jig in itself is flawless and flexible 👌

I hope the joint holds over time, because the inserted spline will not move but the carcass will expand and contact with changes in humidity, perhaps a better joint when using sheet goods.

Or you can just buy the $30 tilt base and make a sled for it that slides in two planes, similar to what you did here. That way your router bit angle is adjustable from 0 to 45 degrees.

A lovely simple solution but I'd never clamp panels in the centre as they will bow ever so slightly and tend to open up the joint.

An interesting and nice jig yes and I'm sure it would have a practical use in some project but for that box demo it really offers nothing. Those inserts won't make the joints stronger than they would be on flat 45 sides glued together. They actually might even be weaker structurally.

Один вопрос только: а ламели правильно нарезаны, ведь нагрузка на углах на излом, волокна вставных ламелей не лучше распологать вдоль воколон основной древесины? Да и в случае намокания не вспучит угол из-за расширения дерева вставки?
